In Episode 1012 of the Harald Schmidt Show, Harald and his production manager talk about this being the first and only time an artist was allowed to not perform live on the show. They also say it was horrible and that they'd never do it again.
To Haters: what do people expect? This is just her style of playing music. Stop comparing to the original! And stop dissing her already! I just love her(talent and personality alone). Look at how great she is.
I don't see how this can be called the Devil's Trill. Taking 45 second from a 17 minute sonata and repeating it and not even keeping the original rhythm - THIS IS NOT TARTINI'S SONATA! Sorry for yelling
it sort of looks fake. i listened to it a couple times and you can't possibly trill and play a few whole notes at the same time. i thought she might have a 5 string violin but, i think its just 4, there might be another violin player in the background, but i dont see one.
If you're going to insult the artist, please go elsewhere. If you were paying attention, no where does it say or does she say that she is playing "Tartini's Sonata: The Devils Trill." It clearly states when purchasing this song "Vanessa Mae's adaptation of The Devils' Trill." So again, don't bother posting if you're going to be rude. Thank you.
I thought it was a perfectly valid expression of opinion. I wasn't insulting her... if you were paying attention. Anyway, I think it's a horrible adaption and a misrepresentation.
It's probably half-recording, half-playing. This song is quite hard to preform, especially with multiple violin parts. Though I know some people play songs over old performance/live TV videos because "the audio was not that good". I wouldn't blame her.
To the doubters: Vanessa-Mae was a true prodigy, mastering the violin by age 11 and even blew he minds of her teachers at that age, and there is speculation that she sold her soul to the devil for the talent, so do not assume she must be faking it just because what she is doing looks impossible.
She's faking it, and I know because what we're hearing is the album recording, an acoustic violin. A Zeta jazz fusion electric violin like the one she's playing here doesn't have the tone of an acoustic violin, which is what's giving it away for most. Mae is incredibly talented, and I have no doubt that we're hearing her, but it's not live: it's synced, which is a damn shame considering her abilities.
Stephen Decker Maybe, but maybe it's possible that electronic synthesizer equipment can make it sound like an acoustic violin. Anyway I'm too mesmerized by her beauty to notice the violin sound.
Thanks to Fishman we do have that kind of technology, but not when she was playing. At least not for violin. Check out her playing Classical Gas live, and you'll hear the difference. Like I said, it's a recording of her playing, just not live.

I tried playing the devil's trill once. My violin exploded. NEVAR AGAIN.
Also Harold Schmidt looks like the German David Letterman.

Sounds exactly like the Studio Version...I'm little bit disappointed but well, this is one of the hardest-to-play pieces ever written...

Quero a partitura dessa música e da SABRE DANCE.Alguém tem?
Does this song remind anyone else of Castlevania music? Or am I the only one?

didn't say she wasn't ;) I said I don't like it as much as the original:P
i think the violins gonna catch on fire if she plays this 1 more time!!!!
There are so many bowing technics, you must try dude! Violin is amazing!
I don't doubt that she's playing something there, but this is the recording. She is miming here.
