Hey Gavin, thanks for comparing the 2. I haven't seen anyone else compare it this way. I was leaning towards Firecut because of the B roll footage but I'm sure there's another AI tool that'll do it for me if I need to
I might have to do another checkup on these tools soon, I'm sure they've changed a lot! Hopefully this video helped you understand them a little better though! Lmk which one you pick/picked
Can you explain what it's based on. I utilize rode caster pro (one track.), rode wireless pro mics and sometimes one overhead shotgun. Will this work for multiple camera angles with one mastered audio track?
Great question, I've spend the last 3 days on and off after work and learned how to utilize RC Pro and Audition to get 3 different .wav files from each of the 3 microphones / and the various multi cam set up.
Hey, Gavin! A question off the subject of the video, I have the same microphone as yours, Shure sm57, but the voice recording quality is not as good, could you tell me what equipment you use? Thank you in advance! Cheers from Brazil!
Hey! Ofc! I use the klark teknik mic booster Cm-1 and the focusrite scarlett solo. Then I mess around with it in post. I made a video on how I did that as well :)
I'm a videographer and editor that usually does most of my own shooting of events, sometimes multiple cameras then I go back and do the post multicam in Premiere then in and out the various speakers and songs into clips. I started to hear about Firecut Ai and was interested. Watching your vid I see there's other similar plugins that do about the same. Alttough from what I've looked up about Fire cut as well as your video showing these these other options it seems that the utility of these Ai tools is for podcasts or talking heads is that right ? Like if I have event footage can any of these tools identify speakers in an event and/or musical selections performed and either ai do the multicam for the editor and/or clip out the distict segments from event footage ?
@@offdazemedia I didn't see it cut/edit any of the audio. It only applied edits to the video... so - doesn't look like great solution for audio-only podcasts.
It’s funny because if you’re just editing video, a normal person would only take 5 minutes viewing the sound waves. But, podcast editing is more audio focused and when you’re doing multicam footage, less than a minute editing is great, but it’s not like that’s the only thing to do and honestly, it’s the least time consuming anyways
I use autopod multicam editor, and for the life of me I can't get the setting to work the way I want. I like the wide shot to be shown for long periods of time (10-20seconds). But it mostly cuts to the speaker regardless of what "wide shot frequency" I have set. Any advice?
update: AutoCut as of Aug 17, 2024 did a full 1hour 20 min podcast in 3 minutes. 3 Cameras / 3 Microphones set up. Not sure if you would like to check it out yourself.
Then you got a finished podcast, lol. Jokes aside, this wouldn't be necessary then. If you created 1-2 more camera angles from your 1 camera angle, then you could do this.
Monthly fees are quite annoying but... 1. They solve problems and save people hours of time every day. 2. They have operating expenses that they need to cover. Any additional revenue might also be put towards research and development to improve their products, but I doubt plugins like these do much of that.
@@GavinHerman Not sure how monthly fees "solve problems" or "save hours of time" and before monthly fees were a thing other companies also had operating expenses and did just fine when you bought the product with a one time payment.
@@joetheunknown8413 to clarify, the software they build solves problems and saves time, not the monthly fees. Also things are much different now, there’s much more competition than there was years ago and hence you need to constantly be improving your software to keep customers. This is where monthly fees help. I don’t love monthly fees either, but they are a necessary part of what a lot of these companies do.
Thanks for the comparison! I was considering getting one of these.

Yeah, that's a tough one. These tools use audio waveforms to make the cuts so they're pretty limited
Would love something like this for audio only podcasts
I don't see why you couldn't just use audio tracks and ignore the video.

how does it work with only audio?

Yeah I’ve had this issue as well. I just do it manually at this point, would be nice to be able to specify things like that
Firecut is better than autopod as it’s half the price, if it takes 5min for it to edit it then I’ll just do something else then lol

Don't buy autocut, its so so bad
This is so stupid. no link in description for any of these or tell you what they are, if they're in the software or online. come on
Links are in the description?
