    I am really saddened when I think of what happened to Bob Probert. He was a true warrior and he paid the price for it in so many ways. A tortured soul he was. RIP Bob Probert.

      A tortured soul? Did you know Bob?
      Bob never took care of himself. He never saw his doctor, if he did, he might still be alive today. People close to him bugged him all the time to get to the doctor but he refused to do so. He was seen often with a shade of blue on his lios and his hands, still no doc. He had his days with drugs and alcohol, he was a smoker, but I wouldnt say a tortured soul. When he passed away he was on a boat with his family.

    The difference between Bob Probert and any other heavyweight fighters was that Bob Probert could flat out play at an elite level, even earning his spot on an All-Star team. As an Edmonton Oiler fan, we have had good fortune to have some of the best heavyweights in hockey, but none of them could compare to Bob Probert.

    • @willbranson3216
      @willbranson3216 7 дней назад +1

      Very good point! Probert got an impressive 29 goals in 1987-88. If had been freed from his enforcer duties and allowed to play pure hockey, he surely would have gotten even more.

      THANK YOU!
      I heard GL bragging about how he never got knocked out, got stitched, had a clean shot against him, etc..
      Yeah well you didn’t play when the the true enforcers like Probbie, McSorely, O’Reiley, Semenko, Kocur, etc.. were in their prime. Not saying there weren’t tough dudes out there with him but c’mon.. THAT was the TRUE era!!🤘

    • @jayoz9583
      @jayoz9583 Месяц назад

      Laraque was useless as an enforcer. Anyone could manhandle a skilled Oiler and he did shit. He didn’t get in one fight he didn’t want to, and didn’t push the issue. In other words say “no” when he says “wanna go” and that’s that, go back to running Oil 1st liners. Debrusk was exactly the same.
      Why trade GL if he’s the best enforcer, what was the return? Nothing for nothing. Best fighter (we’ll never know) isn’t what best enforcer means.

      @@4spdragtop you might not want to admit it here, that’s cool, maybe you never noticed before either and that’s cool too, but maybe from here on out, you will see how many times Bob leans forward to lose his sweater and then starts chucking them. Bob fighting guys who did their best to wrap and pull down on his sweater to keep it on, lasted the longest. @hastingshastings72 yes Bob "undressed " lol, him, Ray and Mcsorley did it, BUT to say that is the only reason he won fights is either narrow-minded or naive. This fight on particular he was WAAAYYY beyond his prime, and it showed.

    The other thing is the greatest coach in history Scotty Bowman has no use for Probert or Schultz but brought in Joe Kocur off the scrapheap in San Antonio and put Kocur on the Grind Line with Draper and Maltby and he played 37 playoff games winning two Stanley Cups!
