The Manix2 is the knife that really brought my attention to Spyderco. Finally picked up the XL Manix earlier this year. Lives up to the very high expectations for great ergonomics.
Yeah its a great one, with the titanium cage it would be soo much stronger, then the scales would really take it over the top, but i dont like the thought of the plastic cage breaking
@@NeevesKnives - I haven't heard of that happening, but on the other hand, ti has to be 10x stronger than plastic.
Is it worth buying the XL if I already have a Manix 2?
@@wigglywrigglydoo - I thought so. I have 5 Manix2s and still bought the XL, of course the XL I got is in M4 and the price was right, so it was an easy choice for me.
@@Abby_Normal_1969, thanks Abby. I've been eyeing the s110v but kept running onto posts about ppl snapping the blade from medium use. Might consider M4 when it's back again
Such a great channel. You both are down to earth, amazing and both super duper knowledgeable. You're lives are top notch.
Thanks Alex
Titanium scales are going to be sweet onthis Manix2XL !!! When I finally got my M4 Manix 2XL’s I was very surprised at how fast it became my favorite Spyderco. I was surprised that it had the same thickness as the standard Manix2 and that it wasn’t a pocket hog like thought it would be. It’s been getting pocket time over my PM2, Para3, Smock, Amalgam, Shaman & standard Manix2. It just gives me confidence in its ability to hold up to hard use plus that awesome large leaf shape blade is fantastic. A whole lot of M4.
I completely agree i wound up getting the scales and cage on my regular manix 2 and im loving it, ive decided to keep this one as is, but might eventually get the cage, these knives are super solid
Awesome. So Happy to see that! Awesome. Loved the knives! Thanks!
Hopefully you enjoy the ones you received let me know soon how its going
Neeves Knives they’re great. There were some scratches on the pivot of the hooligan but I’ve taken 3k grit sp to it and given it a brushed look. Kinda nice. The Para3 lw has grown on me and I get it as far as the fidget factor goes. More so than many of my other spydercos’ (the smock still rules). Thanks for the trade. Your shout out has also lit up my channel a bit. Thanks!!
I got one, with the black blade. It’s big, it’s slicey, it’s awesome! 🎉
Such a great knife size and function. Will be a great project and awesome when go finished
Manix 2XL is my favorite EDC folder I've ever owned. Find the sprint run M4 blade steel , Upgrade to carbon scales , the Flytanium ball cage , back spacer & liners !? You have arguably the best EDC knife of all time !
Damn that sounds fire, I definitely have to, id love to have the m4 version, but the one thing id change is ti scales, man this is going to be fire if i can getm
@@NeevesKnives I hope they do a tanto blade like on the para 2 for the Manix 2XL , could you imagine that !?
@@pauldayton5285 id love to see a version like the gayle bradley with a hollow drop point, if they did i guarantee it would be a huge hit
@@NeevesKnives I'd buy one of those as well ! Who do we contact over there at Spyderco to make that happen? Lol
@@pauldayton5285 idk but it needs to
I have the Manix 2 XL in CPM M4 and absolutely love it. Scott at Big Bore Knife and Gear did an awesome anodizing job on the Ball Cage and scales. Freaking awesome knife.
Nice!!! Thats awesome so you basically have my knife just anodized 😆
@@NeevesKnives I have it on my IG Rusty_Knife_Lover channel. Absolutely awesome knife with laser engraved skulls.
The lock on the Manix is to stiff when you first get them, but they do soften up a lot. Sounds like a very interesting mod.
Yeah since i got this one second in new condition its already softened because it feels perfect
The manix xl is high on my want list great video 👍
Its pretty awesome im definitely loving it, i know i was late to the manix party period but i still made it
And you can get titanium copper or brass for the scales and ball cage
That manix2 xl has been on my radar for a long time. I might have to get one now.
Yeah i think its a winner if your into larger knives, also its a larger knife that works
@@NeevesKnives I can't wait to see it once you have all the mods done. It's gonna be a tank!
i got a fully modified smock and absolutely love it could never get rid of it
"Family party, - yelling" well that makes me think of at least 2 possibilities. ha ha ;-) I recognize that stubborn streak you mentioned, it abides with me too. I have been pondering the Mannix 2 but hearing so much about the XL I'm wondering if that would suit me better. Just a thought.
tom brown takes slightly larger than normal hands. 😁
Its a big knife but very comfortable so you get great ergos and the blade is useful with most things knives are used for
@@OneMinuteKnifeReview that's one reason I've been considering it. Gloves in size extra large are a good fit for me. Thanks for the advice.
Spyderco never disappoints ! Love the sprint runs Bento Box Shop sells ! Bravo !
Heck yeah, this has been my go to knife since it was released. It's not quite as easy to disengage with just the thumb like Axis folders are, but whatever.
I'm quite sure you're aware, but these knives are a bit challenging to deal with when putting them back together... that and the press fit for the scales at the lanyard hole does make changing scales a bit of a challenge as well.
Yeah i know they can be challenging, im not to worried about it, ive been working on challenges since birth 😆
I thought it was going to be as easy as the axis lock. My fingers got some workout the first month I got it. I only have the spy27
You keepin the steel the same?
I did. Cut it with what?
The Manix is my favorite, my XL is the only one without a Ti ball cage (besides the LW’s obviously), because Flytanium has been out of them. XL was the second one that I purchased and I now have 7.
Wow! 7 im late to the party but im loving this one no less, i know id like a regular size but Im starting with this one, I can only imagine how strong this would be with the ti cage and then with the ti scales, no doubt way stronger
So where should i get my cage from?
Neeves Knives I’m just patiently waiting on Flytanium or White Mountain Knives to turn up with some before too long. They are a rare commodity at this moment...
@@mayscat44 i saw some not long ago, they might not have been flytanium though
@@mayscat44 blade hq has the scales rt now that are in flytanium
It's gonna look great! Hurry up and get it done. Later!
One Minute Knife Video! Lol. No worries. That’s for the shout outs!
Noproblem bud! Thank you
@@NeevesKnives 👍
I did exactly what you're planning to do, with a purple titanium ball cage. I'm waiting on purple titanium screws, too. Only little problem I have is I can't get the blade centered. It came to me like that, about 70% 30%. I don't know how many times I took it apart and put it back together trying to get it centered.
As long as its not scraping and its smooth i wouldnt worry to much about it but there are some tricks to getting it centered
I put metal cage and carbon fiber. MXG clip
Nice! I think thats a great way to make it even stronger
Thats my next spyderco for sure!!!!!!
Nice! Id love to know how you like it, its very comfortable in the hand, and the lock feels very strong
I like this a lot. Dunno thought Manix2xl vs Shaman
Great review buddy
Dude I cannot believe I didn’t think of the manix when u said u wanted a titanium knife with something similar to the axis lock but without omega springs! So shout out to ever said that!! Lol 😂. When u get done with it, it will definitely be awesome!
For sure! It will be so amazing to have it all titanium eventually, I know the cage is kinda a btch to put in but i gotta doit
holy crap i just looked up the strider and that price is intense!
If you buy one today, yeah. Mick quit doing production runs years ago if I'm not mistaken, so now you would be stuck with custom work and the price of custom is always insane.
I had a production SMF a long time ago, and tbh I wasn't very impressed, the framelock slided a bit and the thickness impaired the cutting performance imho.
what is the name of the other spyderco knife in this video?
My Titanium cage on my Manix 2 XL sticks on unlocking.
Bad?
Yes, sometimes it takes a few trys to unlock.
Flytanium under 150 for the scales and cage
Nice! Thats what im going for then
Do they even make this anymore I can't find one anywhere
I dont know, i think they just come out in batches
Knifecenter has them in cruwear & smooth g10 for 170 something. Just got mine.
i thought youre gonna talk about the manix 2xl, or maybe "more" about it cause of the title? 😂
Newb question. Do you lube phosphor bronze washers?
Yes
The Manix 2 is one of my favorite spydercos no doubt, however the original button/cage was so annoying to use and will cost you $50+ for a damn piece of button, so I gave up
My Manix2 XL and LW are two of my favorites. BTW, does anyone make lighter springs for the Manix2 line of knives?
Not that i know of but theres a way to make them easier to use without taking it apart
OCD-4-EDC on RUclips sells them. He made a video. You prob found them by now.
Look at me with traditional knives
Your getting old its just what happens 😆
Eh, everyone ends up with a Spyderco or two. I dislike the company but I still have a dragonfly 2 and want a tusk.
Why do you dislike the company?
I’ve owned one myself for about five years. I’m not going to say I hate it, but it’s not worth the money you pay IMO. It has a tendency for blade play, and I’ve read many reviews from others claiming the same. The locking system is good for “tactical” use, but it’s the reason for the blade play. I don’t recommend it for the price they ask.
Mods are easy to do ,
When Spyderco doesn’t throw red threadlocker at your knife...
True!
Does anybody know where I can get some custom scales for a manix 2 xl
Try etsy or flytanium. Rc blade works, karbadized might make some as well
Hi it cam can u show my knife?
Maybe next time bud
Imagine a titanium scale on a griptillian 😍
That is another one that I eventually want to get, I love the griptillian so im definitely going to, i want it to be a stonewashed then an aftermarket clip that would be sick
Neeves Knives ..... *searches sharp dressed site for titanium scales * 😂 dammit my bank account just crying in the corner
You dont have enough cash to buy a knife and you want to buy a bunch of silly accessories for a knife you traded for. Get your finances together.
Luv that mannix2 I finally got one and stays in my pocket
