So glad these came out. Didnt have to wait 10days for shipping either. More like 12hrs.
Oh wow! 🤯 they got yours right out.
@@jd4edc Got lucky apparently. Maybe FDE was an over run.
I recently installed OG goat scales in the rifle pattern on my Manix 2 REX 45 LW. It was no walk in the park. Zero play, perfectly centered. Absolutely love it now.
I’ve been thinking of picking up some AWT scales for my own M4 LW as well. I didn’t know the Flytanium ball cage fit in the new scales so that is good to know as well. Thanks for the video.
Glad I could help, and thanks for watching 💙
Sweet knife 🔪 thanks JD4EDC
Thanks for the video JD4EDC. The "leftover parts" inventory at the end was useful, too. If you're looking for a deep carry clip, check out the clip on a Milwaukee Fastback Compact Folding utility knife. It's very similar to the Spyderco factory clip but slightly longer. On the factory LW scales, it lands on the Spyderco medallion. It fits both the LW scales and the AWT scales.
Thanks 🙏 I just so happen to order a fold over wire clip from Amazon 😂 that’s a great tip though. I’m going to share that with people that ask me. 👊
RGT yall!
Sweet. Looks much better than the factory. I recently pick up this
exact model and also ordered the AWT scales in Magpul with
ceramic ball, light spring, and deep pocket clip. Hope it turns
out as nice as yours. Thanks for sharing this because I just
realized I need to order some KPL. Cheers!
Glad the video helped in some way 😁👊
@@jd4edc Received them today. Installation went well.
Thanks for visuals on that. Fit and finish is good. Not
very happy because the person filling the order there
is color blind. Not the color I order. Not even close.
I can live with it. It does looks better than the factory
plastic toy looking mint ones that it came with.
Feels better in hand too, and perfect centering.
Thanks bro!
I did almost exactly what you did here. Same knife, scales, cage, and bead.
It’s so tight I can’t get it to open freely.
I’ve loosened the pivot screws, added lube, cut a coil out of the spring, and worked it like crazy. No avail.
Adjust the stop pen screws in addition to the pivot. A lot of people don’t realize these all adjust the pivot tightness.
@@jd4edcthank you! I’ll give that a shot right away!
You didn't forget the washers did you?
just finished mine thank you those silver support frames confused me. Also I used the lw spring. Deep carry clip was a good move.
Sweet and congrats. Great upgrade IMO 💚
Little different than the regular model but 👍 looks pretty straightforward
It really wasn’t bad at all. First time is always a little slow going to figure it out. 🙌
Thanks JD!
Well done my guy and looks good a little off center is spyderco lol
It really is isn’t it? 🤣
Man i need some of those scales for my rex 45
I really like them, easy recommendation.
👍👌 Looking at my Rex 45 saying exactly the same 😂
AWT just made many people very happy
@@arthur9103For sure. This Manix LW set i just got is my 9th AWT. They make awesome products.
How come nobody has a awt coupon code jd what up with that they are in my cart just looking for a code anybody 😂
Looks like mint chocolate chip...nice job !
🍦 bruh, it kind of makes me want some mint chocolate chip ice cream every time I carry it 😂
Alright brother I finally did it and ordered my awt scales for the rex45 the fact they are in stock unlike original goat I keep hearing horror stories peoole been waiting months
Sweet. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts 👊
Will do brother
Alright jd I got them and installed and wow it's like getting another knife they are sweet
@@bighamz1175 💯 bro, they are so worth it 🙌
I cannot get the ball cage to seat properly when I add the second scale. It just jams up. Ive almost ruined my scales trying to get this thing together. I had to order a new set of screws. It has been a real struggle.
Did you purchase additional washers? I can’t tell if those “extra pieces” near the pivot were the original washers or frame support. Since their(awt) website gives you an option for washers when u buy the scales, I wondered if they were needed. Thanks great video
No, my washers are always on a new knife so I see no point to buy more. I also have over sized washers should they ever wear out and need replacing. 👍
Surprised you got the ball cage to work. I was told that they don’t work on the LW models
I believe they put that statement on the page because until very recently the manix 2 LW were pin construction and not screw construction.
Are those anodized or cerakoted and what color did you choose?
Thanks for the video, JD.
Cerakote and Squatch green.
hey so I think I know where you got the ball cage and the ceramic ball bearing but I dont know where the lightweight spring came from. does that come with the ball cage from flytanium or the ceramic ball bearing?
The ball cage kit from OCD4OCD.com comes with the spring
How did the flytanium ball cage work with the awt scales. Flytanium says the ball cage will not work with the lw version with awt scales. Did you have any problems
They say that because the lightweight were not always able to be disassembled. The ball cages are all the same size.
Thanks for the response. Got one ordered.
@@jd4edc i just emailed them and they told me it was because there is nested liners and the cage needed to be a different size so it wouldnt work because the overall dimensions are not the same. They have the tritium inseert cages for $7.50 and I didnt order one for my Torx updated Manix 2 LW because of it.
I wish they made those scales for the XL Manix
They do
@@jd4edc since when? I will get some
appliedweaponstech.com/spyderco-manix-2-xl-bananix-scales-agent-series-linerless-cerakote/
Hopefully you can’t copy off the comment. RUclips took away the ability to do links in comments 😞
great job and nice knife
Thanks Kathleen
I was looking at their scales for my Smooth G10 Manix 2XL, but they look so slick and smooth. That is exactly what I am trying to move away from in the S Florida heat and humidity. Any other options anyone has seen for the Manix XL?
Applied weapons tech odd the only one I’ve seen personally. Maybe original goat or Ripps garage gear
I read that the ball cage woudn’t fit on the LW Manix 2 models. Did you had any problems?
No, I left everything loose while putting it together and slowly tightened things down while checking the action.
Where did you get the scales and ball and cage? Scales are so hard to find for the LW
They are linked in the description 👍
@@jd4edc I looked. I didn’t think I saw any links but. Ty for responding. Why did you not want to use the LW spring in the kit you got with the new cage and does the new aluminum cage stick out any further? I feel the oem is so close to the frame. And do you notice anything with the ceramic ball over the stock ball? I just got my first two SpyderCo knives yesterday and one was the Manix 2 with the updated hardware and I got a Alcyone in grey carbon G10. It might be a value line knife but it’s nice.
@@Ryan.S924 for the spring, personal preference. The light spring is too light feeling. The ball cage sticks out about the same but has more aggressive jimping for better grip. It’s a fantastic knife.
The slotted ball cages without the tritium are 10$ atm on Flytanium
@@zexnynex777 i saw that and I messaged them and they said it would not work with the my manix 2 LW.
So you just forgo the the goofy snowman washers?
Yeah it’s odd that there some parts left over but it all works.
@@jd4edc I imagine it's because they needed the extra washers to make it metal on metal with the frcp scales but the aluminum handles eliminates the need I guess. I was a little salty when I first cracked it open last night to see it wasn't the same lol, glad I just put it together, everything fit great and the action is still great with very little play. Def like my manix way more now
How much weight do they add?
I think it comes in at 2.3 now. I think I weighed it for someone else in the comments but it’s been a minute. It’s still really light. 💚
youre extremely luck your wire clip screw came out that easy. I just tried this lastnight and the D shaped Pin that the torx screw threads in to had so much locktite in it that its just spinning inside the scale! so im screwed. Brand new kinfe!
Reach out to Spyderco, that doesn’t seem right that they had so much in there.
@@jd4edc it’s ridiculous. And I was told it’s a common problem with these and instead of replace the scale and replacing the hardware and using less Loctite they just give it a Chicago hardware and ship it back. SMH.
Just had that happen. Going to dremel a tiny notch to use a small flat head in mine. That was the fix on the forums.
@@clintonbrooks3611 yeah that’s what I ended up doing. Basically prying upwards on the screws head while rotating it out.
@@clintonbrooks3611 then I bought some liners and scales from a G10 S110V Manix 2 and looooove it.
Nice JD but today is Friday lol
