- Bruce Welch pays tribute to his old bass player Jet Harris, who had sadly passed away in March of 2011, and announces "The Man With The Golden Arm" to be played by former Shadows'bass player Alan Jones as a tribute to Jet. Backing is by "The Rapiers" with lead guitarist Colin Pryce-Jones and former Shadows keyboardist, Cliff Hall.
This was videoed at Shadowmania 2011, on Saturday September 17th, 2011. Shadowmania was held a The Lakeside Country Club, Wharf Road, Frimley Green , Camberley, Surrey Heath, England, every year from 1998 until 2012 with the exceptions of 2004 and 2009 owing to Bruce's unavailability due to reformed Shadows tours. - Видеоклипы
I’m 80 now, and sure miss those days of cliff Richard and the shadows, don’t you sometimes think the world was a better place then? Did we ever imagine how life would be in 2024? So much trouble and strife.
Jet Harris, a true legend. Miss him so, so very much.
God bless you Jet 🎼🙏
Saw Jet with Marty Wilde brilliant guitarist, one of the best,r.i.p sir.🇬🇧🙏😢
Rest in peace Terence
Great comments Bruce
I’d love hear more about Jet and Licorice in the early days . Brian Bennet said that they both of them could really drive a band with their bass guitar playing.. ( Which was a brand new instrument at that time)
Yes I heard Brian interview and I’ve been hoping for more if that information. It’s especially true interesting, since the Bass guitar was in its infancy in the late 50s.
I love Jets bass lines on: Wonderful land; The Stanger; Skeepwalk and many others.. thanks for posting
Jet Harris was a brilliant bass and guitar player I don't want to pour cold water over anything but the booze was his down fall. As I said before he was a brilliant musician. Alan Merseyside.
Maybe someone else apart from Jet was responsible for Jet turning to drink ?
Miss shadow mania so much just a great day for avid shads fans and treated to rareities that would never get played at a regular gig.
Saw Jet a couple of times....not only was he a "Great" bass player but he had a really dry sense of humour.....He played some brilliant bass lines and was ahead of his time....a sad loss of a guitar hero and funny man....
I had tickets to see Jet, but he died a week before the gig, which was a crying shame.
I'm so sorry to hear you missed him at that gig. Did you manage to see him or meet him at any other time? I was extremely lucky to chat with him not just at Shadowmania 2008, but on at least 3 occasions when he played, or was support for Marty Wilde and others on his visits to Tunbridge Wells. ♥
❤Love those red Fender guitars!
And a Burns there also!
❤❤
I wish I knew who that lovely man with the glasses is
Alan Jones (Bass) in the middle or Colin Pryce-Jones (Rapiers Lead Guitar) on our right …..
Yes Jet was drunk all of the time especially with the public knowledge that Cliff was sleeping with Jet's wife, Carol. With that in front of them in the Shadows, Jet had to go. Very sad- he was a great bass player and with Tony Meehan made the rhythm section of the Shadows very unique ( Bruce was also part of that of course) Just listen to 'Find me a Golden Street' as an example.
The hypocrisy of Bruce is incredible they asked jet to lave the group even though another member of the group should have left
They asked him to leave, because he had a drink problem that was affecting his performances. It's not hypocritical, at all. People get booted out of bands for a lot less.
Jet's drink problem was the reason he left and I would suggest Bruce is very kind in what he said. I was in the Cavern when Jet fell off the little stage rotten drunk and throughout the performance Hank & Bruce covered for him very professionally. Nobody is irreplaceable.
Wasn’t it about Cliff sleeping with Het’s wife? I never knew the full story..
and why did Tony leave?
Oh dear a man of god doing that ? Tut tut.
He wasn’t a man of god then , that came later.
Bruce is so two faced..
well that was crap was it not
Bloody awful.
