  • I didn't get 100% right, I look forward to tackling it again. The part 2 Vid shows improvement.
See it here: • I got more aggressive ...
Reefton Spur is one of the greatest of the Melbourne-area rides, with a 95% corner ratio along its 19 kilometer length. Corner speeds are fair to medium, and the bitumen is “grippy” with some exceptions. There are a few bumps, while cars are fairly infrequent at an average 1 per 10 minutes.
The road follows ridge-crests which look out over the Upper Yarra Catchment Basin, and is surrounded by alpine forest, but although there are many great views over the surrounding landscape, you are likely to be too busy to catch more than a glimpse of most. The uphill ride (from Reefton to Cumberland Junction) is more pleasant because of better corner visibility. Other nearby roads (such as that from Warburton East to Reefton) are also great roads in the area.

That road is great. I have seen some crazy shit up there in years past. On summer weekends there used to be 50 bikes parked at the bottom, 50 at the top and at least 50 going up or down. Dudes having head on collisions and crashing left right and centre. It's a much better place to ride now, very quiet.

Exactly, that's why we ride it on a weekday.

Must've missed you guys, I was there yesterday and today. If you pause at 1.44 you'll see the black marks. It's a very regular occurrence, coming the other way it's a decreasing radius corner and catches the unaware. I used to use the 2 x 35kmh signs as a marker but they were removed about 12 months ago after the fires went through. All you get now is a 50kmh sign 3 corners away. Generally soft landing over the edge as the towies have pulled a lot of bikes from there.

This vid was from 2 weeks ago on a Tuesday near the end of our 6day high country ride (more vids to come) - Yeah I see it, we where a bit slow exiting the previous corner.

Reefton up and then Black Spur down or repeat in the other direction as it does make for a great day of riding. It’s tight and twisty, just don’t look too much at the trees otherwise you will form the type of relationship that is set to fail. Nice video. 👍😎🇦🇺

Thanks, was my first time riding it, I loved Lake Mountain just a little race track did better on the 1050 RS on the way back after my sighting run on the Tuono on the way in.

@@DukeOfTwist The first time is always tricky as you covered going through several corners when you can’t see what’s around and in some of the corners they can actually tighten up somewhat unexpectedly. I remember the very first time I rode it all the way back to 1992. Simply Awesome and I still enjoy it today.

Arguably the best roads in Victoria. Reefton and Black Spur. Some corners can catch you out.

They're real nice, I really like the challenge of Jamison - Eildon road being my favourite although gearing on the Tuono didn't suit being 15/40 so I'm going 15/44 so I can get drive in 2nd on the hairpins.
