Something metal with a flat surface to smooth out any rough edges.

yes, id like to see a more hands on video of how you work the melted plastic. I have a 4" crack on the bottom hull
It doesn't really get a lot more detailed. You just need to drill the holes, heat the damage, heat the new plastic, and then twist in to blend together.

A lot of times a paddleshop will have plastic in abundance. Also have some links on Amazon for plastic rods if not available. Any of those will suffice!

Sounds like a manufacturers defect in material and design. Bill the manufacturer !!$$$$
When you pack the hull for support, from inside or outside, DO NOT create reverse pressure. Your repair may bulge out. Been there, done that....more than once. Create just enough contact pressure to support your repair area.
Things happen. Full disclosure, Wilderness Systems actually replaced the entire hull at no charge. Our shop does hull repair for life free of charge if purchased from us. This was just a how to because things can happen, and it's easy to do

They are all over Amazon and some of the manufacturers sell them color matched
