I think something we don’t remember is our bodies are not symmetrical. If we were Taylor’s first I think we would be making different sizes for different sides of our bodies. I’d be really interested in taking a Taylor’s course to understand all that stuff. Stunning top lady.

Love the placket behind the bows. Other versions of the bow ties I’ve seen didn’t and that just didn’t seem to have a wide use to me. In fact love the whole design. It’s a fabulous top and you’ve used a fabulous fabric in a great colour.

Your top looks amazing in that fabric, and on you! My measurements land me in the same size variations as you! I recently heard this referred to as a diamond shape! 😁 I rather liked that, ha ha! I used to think I was an apple shape, but i don't have some of the classic features for it, so this diamond reference makes sense to me. 🤗

Love, love the red and really love the pattern. I was seriously impressed with the Peonie dress instructions and how it went together so I think I will buy the Fleur today (the placket is the cincher)- so please don’t say you don’t influence people😂. LOL over the thick set reference😂😂😂- my Dad said I was thick set like my great grandfather- it is a bit of a family legend because my Dad was not the most tactful person. Useful summary of the pattern thank you and I agree with you that more info on what pages are needed to print would be useful. And yes, I miss my machine when I am away too!! Awesome color on you Ruan, love the pattern, the ties would drive me insane...lol White would look great, but I would dye it pink. I'm not a white person. will look beautiful I'm sure. Yes the dress version would be great too. Glad you had a great get away with fam.

I finished my version yesterday in white dobby fabric. It’s lovely and such a great sewing process; I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m just unsure about the proportions on me (I’m reaaalllly short), so I need to work out the right length for the bodice and peplum for me and adjust future versions. I think the sleeves are a bit long for my body, too, so that’s another adjustment, or I’ll try the sleeveless version. I also wonder if the dress would suit me better, so I don’t have that bulk around my widest part? For taller people, I’m sure it would be just perfect as it is. Yours looks gorgeous and I love your fabric!
I totally get what you mean. Making it with a drapey fabric might help too x

I know what you mean about missing your sewing when on holiday. We are going away to the beach for two weeks, and i am planning to see if i can fit my machine and overlocker to take with us! And i want to have this pattern cut out and make it up while we're there! I love this red version on you Ruan! Absolutely stunning!

I’ve just got to add the peplum Tommy Fleur and I’m really pleased with how’s it’s looking and fitting. Nothing has been too tricky. My machine even behaved when I was sewing the edge of the ribbons! I agreed that it would have been good to have the instructions tell you which pages to print for which pieces as it was 60 odd pages to stick to together, half of which I didn’t need. Yours looks beautiful in that red anglais!

Your Fleur is flippin fab! My AL pattern arrived from FG today, they even put a photo of the garment on the envelope which is just soooo useful. The Peony was one of my favourite patterns to sew up last year and I think the Fleur will be a favourite for this year 😎 cannot wait to get stuck into it 🤩🥳
I definitely get the need for a SR floor light for the cutting table! The Gemini table lamp is way to heavy for me to move from sewing to cutting space but I couldn’t do without my Gemini now, we are partnered for life! 🤪🤷♀️

I’ve just made the dress version and I absolutely love it! I completely agree with about the pattern prices for the bust cups. They really should tell you which pages to print for what view and what bust cup. Also they could give dimensions for the skirt rather than having to print off about 16 pages!!!. It’s just a rectangle anyway! Regardless, it’s a fab pattern and looks amazing on you❤

Fleur is a fantastic pattern, I made mine up in a chocolate pooh brown cotton lawn!!! 😉And I simply love it! I think I need to make it in a red too now! Yours is gorgeous.

Brilliant tip to use the selvedge that way! I have an embroidered fabric that has a really wide selvedge and now I know what to do with it!

It’s a lovely top Ruan and a good review. I haven’t bought this yet although I fell in love with it. I’m a slow burner and like to see other versions before I commit. Plus I have 2 new dress patterns to make. The Ripple dress by so different and the Roscoe blouse/ dress. I think I just pressurize myself if I take on too many plans. In October at the stitch festival there will be copies of this pattern so I’ll wait until then. However I love your version and a very helpful review❤️

Gorgeous Ruan, absolutely gorgeous! Could the neckline be graded? Do you feel it could be a bit lower? I would prefer, for myself, it to be a bit lower? I would love to the make the dress version with those lovely sleeves!
I love the neckline where it is but I’m sure you could lower it slightly if you wanted to. You would just have to change the placement of the ties slightly and make sure you graded the modesty panel down too 😀

Hi love your videos and love your colour and fabric choices. Can you help me and explain how you print a pdf pattern as I’ve never used one before and if you take the pattern to the printers on average how much does it cost and is it a cost effective.
Hi there - you have two options with a PDF - you can print it at home on A4 pages and stick them together OR you can send it to a printer like Fabulosew who can print out the AO size pages - this costs £2.35 per page - hope this helps 💖

I hate PDF patterns aswell & yeh but ya have to buy both the PDF & the printed shop copy which is £7 extra so cause u gotta buy both the total price comes to about £20 ish hope this helps hun 😁 xx
