After getting into better bourbons I started 2 blend bottles, 1 with only 4 Rose's. It's got 2 single barrels, sb, sb select and a lil 4 Rose's 80proof... absolutely awesome. The other 1 was a last drink of any bourbon bottle... I recommend sticking to certain types, ie high corn, or wheaters, ryes lol
Now that would be a fun video. Do an "Amateur Blender Whiskey War". Each of you make your own blends of each of these, along with the actual, and see how you rank them blind. I would be curious if one of the blends beats the actual.
I really enjoy making blends. I don’t do it often, but I usually find them to be delicious. I recently did a 50/50 blend of ECBP A121 and Belle Meade Reserve, let it sit for about 10 days, and found it to be incredible. I currently have two infinity bottles... one for high proof bottles (basically 110 and above), and the other is more of a catch all. The high proof one is fan-freakin-tastic!
Sounds like you are on the right track with those blends. For that very special "Uncle Daddy" Pappy, hope you can get that same accomplished artist who drew up the label for the Infinity bottle. You guys need some white lab coats to do all this blending justice. Maybe with a "BJ" label on the pocket. Cheers!!
I use an old Rip 10 bottle for my PMP as well. Have 2 107's left and only 1 W12 and will get at least one more full PMP bottle out of them. The original recipe of this blend may have been to recreate Weller Centennial 10 year
I have been doing Poor Man's Pappy Barrel Strength. 2/3 Makers Mark Cask Strength and 1/3 Larceny Full Proof. Let it sit for 4 weeks, shake every other day. Pretty good IMO.
Fella's, poor man Birthday did you go bottle = bottle for the blend? Or less? What did you blend / age in? Our little bourbon group is looking to do birthday bourbon, aged in a small medium char barrel.
Sup guys!! I’m really glad you did the pmp, although not sure what it means when you haven’t compared it to another Pappy (10,12,15).. since you guys don’t have it of course ... I guess maybe a good follow up would be if you changed the pmp blends ? To see which one is the best PmP🙃
We've had an entire bottle of the 10 and the 23. We both agreed we liked this blend more than we liked both of those offerings. We haven't had the 12 or the 15 though.
"Welfare birthday Bourbon" hahahaha 🤣😂😅
My blend that you should try...80% Weller SR, 15% Woodford double oak and 5% OWA...Pappy van Weller Reserve :-)

I sometimes watch these 1 year old videos and man they have come a long way in terms of production
What about 2 years later? 😂
Even further, they're doing great continuously improving!
I use a 1/2 gallon for my infinity bottle. More room for dumping and it feels baller.
Was looking forward to an open bottle flip with the Birthday bourbon. You won't Dan.
Still one of my favorite BJ videos of all time. Just unbelievably funny.

Love I have a lot of blue ones at work. Spoiler alert we might go hard into trying to mix some stuff soon.

All I know is it's delicious. Cheers!
Seen a blend on Reddit of 3 parts 1920 to 1 part Stagg Jr. I think I may have to try that one.
That sounds interesting
Sounds like a waste of SJR
@@nolenlifts4661 it's pretty good tbh

That really sounds awesome , do you just put it in a bottle or in a 1 liter oak barrel .
@@anthonyavila4027 I use 3 old whiskey bottles.
Good video
Made a Poor Man’s Four Grain Weller SR: OGD114 2:1 (500ml SR and 250ml OGD) sit for two weeks
I feel like we've been told that before and have never made it. We'll have to try it at some point
Just blended 50% old forester 86 25% old forester 1920 and 25% wild Turkey rare breed. Gonna let it sit for 2 to 3 weeks and see what happens!
Slowly catching up on all these lol ... My fave WT blend: equal parts Rare Breed (116.8), RR 10 year (90) and MK 17 year (86.8)!!!
That's a heavy hitter tossing in that MK 17. (Price wise not proof)
You're not wrong lol
Here's the thing, this Dan guy is a gosh dang blending somm!
He's not, don't let him fool ya
@@BourbonJunkies Here's the thing, I'm on Shook's payroll 🥃
What is the decanter you guys use? And would you recommend it?
We usually just use empty bottles we have lying around.
@@BourbonJunkies didn’t even think of that. I just saw your bottle and thought it looked cool. Thanks!

Soooooo my local distributor has both old foresters in stock for around 50 a bottle... is the mix worth it?!?
A lot of people really like the 1915 mixture. For sure worth trying it once, let it rest for a week or two though!

Truth, it is so good
I've seen people hocking 1915 label sets.
BUY A FUNNEL! UGGGHHHH
This videos a year old 😂🤣
