One thing everybody failed to mention is that Solo pinned Cody making him #1 contender for the title at Summerslam. I'm glad they put that on last because it was the best 6 man tag I've seen since Punk and FTR in that joke company. If you have time and can find an upload, watch FTR vs Bullet Club Gold (Jey White & Juice Robinson) 2 out of 3 falls from Collision last year...
That Womens MITB was mental. The bumps they all took were incredible especially Zoey from Iyo and the one Chelsea took through the tables. Also had to laugh when Tiffy waved at Chelsea after she pushed her off the ladder. Toodles😂
Zoey almost broke her neck
The Zoey Iyo bump looked legitimately scary
Youre 100% right about MITB being less important under the HHH era vs the Vince era. During Vince, we were STARVING for things to matter. MITB represented that because it actually led to things in the “story” changing. Under HHH though, almost every match means something now (even the ones on RAW and SD). That alone makes MITB less important, but it is still one of my favorite PLE gimmicks they do.
@@dicehands 2011 was the only important event
I'm in the minority here but the reason I personally was annoyed there were no returns or swerves with the 6 man match is me trying to justify why it's closing the show over the world heavyweight championship match. Cody wasn't defending his title, there were no major swerves it was just a regular bloodline match. If you wanted to Debut Jacob Fatu sure but then just make it a singles match. Don't show me something I can watch on Smackdown and sacrifice a possible womens title match or once again making the World Heavyweight Championship seem less important.
You're in the majority
People hate on solo way too much , if he wasn’t doing what he’s doing now the whole bloodline story would’ve ended at wrestlemania
Solo should pin reigns imo. No rock involvement. They have war games and solo pins reigns in it
Ive only watched wrestling for 2 years, but i was in heaps when cena brought out that towel saying ' my last time is now '
Lol
@@fwf31 hahahah
I’ve watched John cena since his debut and I felt nothing
@@pleaseshutup7053 To everyone in this world, watch out for this badass over here.
@@pleaseshutup7053I really liked him as rapper cena that one of my fav characters in wrestling ever as a wrestler hes alright hes not great but has had some great matches
I disagree, just because the briefcase helped one storyline doesn't mean it wasn't a waste.
it didn't help the storyline, it was already red hot. If they wanted punk to screw Drew, it should've happened during the ladder match so the briefcase could actually be a plot device
Yeah I don't think they handle the entire event very well, makes no sense for Drew to win the briefcase and even less to cash it in right away, really just seems like a cop out to remove the wild card from the table which is a let down for the fans. Hope you guys still enjoyed the show, just wasn't what I had hoped for personally 🍻
@@alphisbadatbloons the spot brought seth into the feud. it brought a different element into the story even more. again, if you just expect the briefcase to be cashed in after a by a midcard talent. then it's going to get repetitive.
It wasn't a waste. It progressed a storyline. How many different stories should it have progressed? Lol
@@snegsbegs that's your opinion, I'm not explaining anything to you
The fact that Iyo did some of the moves she did with a Dream Match next weekend on the line with Utami in Marigold is wild.
to me, your take on the briefcase is absolutely spot on. It's not an elevator, its a storyline developer.
It is what they make of it. It can serve either or both roles of elevating someone and advancing a story.
Punk/McIntyre/Rollins at SummerSlam and holding off on Punk/McIntyre for their first encounter for Badd Blood in a Hell in a Cell match seems to be the right way to go. Punk/McIntyre has been feud of the year, and Ive been saying that since March.
They should of protected Bron, him losing clean to one finisher was the only booking decision I strongly dislike
I like how Sami has been protecting his finish.
@luciacastillo3098 I totally get your point and agree but I wish Sami had hit something big like his brainbuster plus his finisher
He just kicked Bron in the face when Bron tried to swear him. Then immediately did it again. Everyone keeps saying 1 finisher but as far as I'm concerned there were 2 back to back
He lost clean and also so easy. Its not like Sami Zayn totally destroyed him. He just hit his standard moves, with which he wins on a regular raw match. They just shouldnt have put Bron Breakker in his Match or Sheamus should have attacked Breakker before the match, which would have resulted in a wild brawl backstage between the two and the match wouldnt take place
@@luciacastillo3098that kick has not been that protected, it usually takes multiple to keep someone down
triple h confirmed on the post-show that drew's music wasn't supposed to stop the pin and that Priest was the one who messed up. I guess he couldn't hear the ref or something
HHH said the Ref's ruling is final and I will have to talk to him to find out what he saw that we didn't. Meaning the Ref had a storyline reason and that is LIV MORGAN. Trying to earn her way into Damiens good graces while protecting her boys that swore they would say out of it.
As someone at the arena, after 2 lights flashed like they do in drews entrance but the music didnt hit, priest didnt botch the music for drew didnt play
My biggest problem with the botch is that Damian looks so weak now. Not only can he not win matches by himself but we saw him get pinned by the superplex, falcon arrow combo that never beats anyone.
I called this in your last post, the CM Punk ruining Drew’s career schtick is so predictable now.
Interesting to see how this fuels Rollins’s next feud.
True who is Rollins gonna feud with at summerslam?
It may have been predictable, but it is what made the most sense to do. Don't do stupid shit just because it is surprising.
its a feud lmao its predictable bc they hate each other. bro you cant fucking please anyone
Predictable doesn't mean bad
@@pleaseshutup7053triple threat?
Drew has had tunnel vision for that championship since elimination chamber. He won it, for a short 8 min reign before losing it to the MitB holder.
I completely understand why he would cash in the same night he won the breifcase, and made the match a triple treat with the person he beat for the championship and the person he lost the championship to.
Drew thought he had taken care of Punk by sending him to the hospital last month, and had the tunnel vision toward the belt that he didn't consider Punk may be there to screw him over.
I'm not gunna lie...I'm also not trying to be negative but....I really didn't enjoy this show at all. This is the reason why I don't watch weekly shows anymore...I typically watch the ples, but if you're going to throw away the show card the way they did, then it doesn't really inspire me to watch raw or smackdown because they're going to do some weird booking for the ends of the matches. Maybe I'm just not "getting" wrestling anymore, but ever since WrestleMania, most of the stuff I've seen has been crap. Come on triple h, you can do better than this....
I agree with you. I thought last night's PLE was pretty bad. I'm not looking forward to RAW tomorrow as I usually am after a PLE.
@@Tasha_75 I was terrible.
I really cannot comprehend how some fans have the patience to watch raw and Smackdown every week I could never. The PLE have been banging tho even this one the matches were really good again
@@pleaseshutup7053because When you enjoy a product you want more of that product plus the weekly shows are great and tell the storyline leading to the pov
It's sooooooo obvious that Drew's music should've hit.
Bro was looking at the ramp, dude. It's not his fault.
I agree with what you said about my opinion. I should’ve worded it as “I prefer the briefcase to elevate other superstars, however, if it is used cleverly as a storytelling device, I would be perfectly fine with that.”
I'll just list my thoughts in match card order.
-Mens MITB was great but Jey Uso should have won. Drew didn't need the briefcase to advance his story with Punk, or to fit right back in the title scene. Jey Uso is supposed to be the top face on Raw but he currently has no path to SummerSlam and no grander feud or storyline. He keeps losing big matches in the main event scene and at this point he's being booked like a main even jobber who can't win the big ones without his brother. With Drew losing, the briefcase is off TV for a full year. He still could have been screwed by CM Punk maybe out of winning the case, and giving the W to Jey keeps the MITB briefcase in the WWE for however long they needed it.
-Sami winning and continuing the underdog narrative is a W for me, but it does feel weird to kill Bron's momentum like that. Losing clean might serve to humble him and push him closer to being a face again but it just doesn't seem like the right move right now. It just makes more sense for Bron to be the heel of the future gen and Ilja to be the face of the future gen.
-Seth vs Damian should have headlined. Not only would it end the PLE on the CM Punk pronlem but it feels wildly disrespectful to the Heavyweight Championship title to not let it headline. They let the WWE Champ main event the mat h without defending his belt. That buries the Raw title. I know it develops Punk's feuds with both Drew and Seth. But adding Seth back into the Punk-Drew feud makes it much less personal. It's like opening the relationship to save it from dying out. Also, I didn't even notice the 3 count botch in the moment to be totally honest with you.
-Women's MITB was match of the night by far and while I wanted Chelsea Green to win, I am overjoyed for Tiffany Stratton right now, she deserves this.
-Bloodline match was the worst match of the night. I love Solo Sikoa's work right now and Jacob Fatu looked incredible. But man, I hate Tama Tonga and the way he is always doing the Rock eyebrow every time you see him. I don't like what I've seen from Tama Tanga and Tonga Loa's in ring work so far. This isn't heel heat or anything, they just aren't doing it for me. Also thisnis the only match that I found boring st any point, the beat down of Kevin Owen's in the whole first half of the match just felt so slow paced and drawn out. But, I liked the finish and like what it does for the Smackdown landscape.
I feel like the super long reigns have warped how people think about championships. The purpose of the briefcase is to choose an opportune moment to become champion. People like Cody and gunther(if he wins) are seen as too strong to be beaten quickly but that’s where the briefcase tips things in your favor. In fact it’s the only way to realistically see the top tier guys drop the belt. So imo saying something like they won’t drop to a cash in doesn’t really make sense because that’s in essence the most believable way to drop it.
You thinking of it in terms of being a fan not in terms of being a booker because no way Gunther or Cody are losing by a cash in with triple h booking
@@Wrestle_Kingdomthat’s true in a sense. As a fan it makes sense that it’s the best way to go about it. But if our champs won’t lose to a cash in, what’s the point of having the match? They always emphasize how the winner gets a title opportunity any time they want but if we all know that they won’t drop to a cash in why bother having it? Shoutout to the women tho they put on a banger of a match and hopefully Tiffy can seize the moment when it comes
@@gohanf430 The purpose of MITB is to elevate a person or storyline same goes for rumble and elimination chamber. Also MITB is one their most popular PLE, It’s unrealistic to think a company going to get rid of one of their most popular PLE that brings in a lot of money no company would ever do that.
MITB still elevate talent last year we had Damien and Iyo successfully cash in and this year we got Tiffany we can’t expect every MITB winner to be elevated because that just unrealistic and way to predictable which fans already complain about. Also we seen WWE put the briefcase on someone that fans wanted to win and seen them cash in successful but it didn’t elevate them because of how both championships being too strong for that wrestler to beat, Liv Morgan.
The cash-in heat is going toward the writing right now, but they're surely going to spin that heat toward Punk at Raw. He's turning heel. This whole thing is to turn Punk heel.
I get what you’re saying about the briefcase but, sorry man I think you’re wrong about that. The goal of the briefcase has always been to elevate a new start first, only few times it was used for storyline purposes
The MITB is in fact an elevating item. However, on occasion it is used as a story pusher. It usually goes every other year for the men’s MITB, one year storyline, one year elevate. They are still trying to figure out the women’s side.
Vince era the ref would have counted the 3. It was a fireable offense. If you have the 3 counted. The wrestler fault for not kicking out.
To be fair to the person complaining about the amount of filler, literally, mathematically, just over half the time was spent on actual wrestling even less if you don't count the Cena promo. Ads and entrances should not take up almost half the show.
Ads, sure. But entrances are part of the show for me.
@@Dporticus That's fair, but you have to admit they could be a little shorter, just a few less seconds.
While it was clearly a missed cue backstage, as someone who was trained as a ref and has worked events with former wwe refs, the golden rule is COUNT THE PIN. No matter what, if someone forgets to kick, if there's a botch, you shoot the count. While it may not be the planned finish, you're not in the wrong for counting the 3. If you count the pin, the audience doesn't know anything went wrong. The problems arise when you don't count the pin, and it's obvious something went wrong (case in point). Storylines can always be adjusted.
I'm just burnt out on punk. He's almost doing the same type of thing he's always done, personally he shouldn't of come back and be pushed in to any main event spot, now coming back from injury he should of be told to start at the back and had a year of building him up,
I like your videos dude. Stumbled across your page through the algorithm. Me as a 38 year old and life long wrestling fan, I really enjoy and appreciate the way you approach talking about the business through a new fans point of view and perspective. You're very respectful in how you talk about the past before you started watching. Keep up the good work man, I'll continue to tune in! Much luv from Denver.
I appreciate that a lot. Thank you!
Very good take. The media scrums.. WWE hands down was way better. I'm most of aEw fan.. however it's getting harder to Like aEw. Some fans can't take criticism - people like you makes me rethink WWE.. Tony Kahn Walks out with the talent it's weird..
WWE's talent is looked at as no babysitting and More important.. that's My thoughts 🧐💭...
I like this show.. 😎👊
The media scrums were dope with cm punk in aew legendary I will never forget watching those
brauns theme was a major improvement compared to all the other recent wwe themes, i don’t know if it was created for him but it sounds like a real song from an outside band
One thing I haven't seen discussed - if things worked out properly, it looks like Seth was meant to be pissed at both Drew and Punk. Priest was meant to NOT kick. That means Drew's music was what cost him the win. Replays would show Damien wasn't kicking when the music hit so Seth was robbed by Drew and commentary could have highlighted that. Then Punk costs him also and creates a scenario where Seth is pissed at both. As it stands, it looks more like he's only pissed at Punk.
Great video man! Excited for what's to come with Cena's run, personally I think he needs his time to be put over, I would love to see that 17th title run, but I don't want a super cena moment, I want him just go in and do business, he's shown he's that guy time and time again. I'm excited for it though!
I think the Vince era had a lot more "throw everything at the wall," whereas HHH is narrativelt very lean, which is where I think some people have the impression that it was "needed"
First-time matches should never be a stipulation match. It's booking 101. The dude who suggested that needs to go listen to Punk shooting down a reporter at the Clash of the Castle press conference saying he and Drew's first match should be in Hell in a Cell lol.
I really hope they have a segment tonight on Raw with Finn coming clean about paying off the ref. to "help" Damian since he didn't want them coming to the ring.
Also I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it, the refs are taught to count the 3 if there isn't a kick out.
The only thing I didn't like was the 3 count botch, everything else in the show went how they planned it for the storyline. Just because a match had a different outcome from the one you wanted doesn't make the show shit. I'm here to watch the story they make not the story I make, yeah I would have preferred Bron to win but he didn't, thats just how the story goes. We need to be patient and just enjoy the ride.
they could explain the 'botch' by revealing on Raw that Finn somehow paid off/ threatened/ blackmailed the ref to save Priest cos he was told earlier in the night not to interfere. they're already angling towards a JD faction breakup (or at least Priest getting kicked out) so might as well run with Finn undermining him by getting the ref to save him.
I´ve been wanting to ask you something if you have the time. I returned to wresting a year after you, i subs to WWE Network and watched every single show and PLE since 2020 until today, do you did something to catch up as well?
Not really. I just go back sometimes and watch certain build ups that feature wrestlers I'm interested in now. Just to get a better idea of where they started out.
Best moment in the women’s survivor series-Charlotte and Becky hugging it out. It got a HUGE pop
I also grew up with Cena and I was honestly surprised they announced that he was going to be doing a retirement tour of sorts. I figured if anything they would announce only one last match. I don't know if I want that last Cena run with a world title but I wouldn't be surprised if they did it. I just hope it's not a bunch of tag matches like what he's been doing recently. I want to see him do at least a few singles matches.
The thing about the World Championship. The stipulation of Seth not being able to challenge Damien again is not a rare stipulation. It gives a good reason why Seth won't challenge him again so he can do other things. Plus Damien might not have it after Summer Slam anyway. As far as Damien leaving Judgement Day, that will happen. Prob aly when Finn stabs him in the back and kicks him out.
Production seemed a weird step behind yesterday. I think there will be a post mortem on that for sure. Shame, because it was a solid match.
Also Sami is a champ, he isn’t a monster, he is an every man and I am always rooting for him to win.
Lastly, I don’t think the male MITB cash in was wasted as some people claimed. No matter what happens, nobody will be happy.
The thing is Jimmy's motivation would be to get payback on Solo. It feels like it's getting to the point where we're gonna have to start bringing the pieces together for an original bloodline reunion for Roman, Jey and Jimmy. A Bloodline Vs. Bloodline wargames Match at Survivor Series is rumored to happen and it's about time to start floating Jey Uso back over to smackdown, reunite Jey with a returning Jimmy and then have Roman return at SummerSlam and reunite with The Uso's in that little three month period between summerslam and survivor series.
On the topic of cena, back in 2007/2008 ric flair said that the next match he loses he would retire. Each week when he wrestled he would barely eke out a win. Shawn Michaels was able to pin flair at mania in 2008 and ended his career. I don’t think they’ll do something like that with Cena but it’s still a possibility
I honestly feel bad for Damian. Someone screwed up the timing of Drew's cash in so Damian and the ref looked stupid, and the Judgment Day drama became a third wheel so Seth could get inserted into the CM Punk v Drew feud
@Dporticus Not sure if you know this but John Cena is tied for the most WWE Titles ever won landing him at 16 Championships, tied with Rick Flair. It would be cool to finally see someone beat the record for once as Rick jumped ship to AEW a little while back.
Another heater of a video 🔥
With Seth/Priest it was either a production botch and they were supposed to hit the music sooner, or Rollins botched and spiked Priest on his head making him forget he was supposed to kick out. Either way I'm not sure why people are blaming Damien Priest or the ref for it. Neither scenario is on them.
Some people have their mind trapped in 2005 when Edge won the first MITB. Honestly, it did elevate him to main event status. But that is far from a common occurrence. It's mostly been used (as you say) as a story telling device.
Truth is not many other midcarders that have won MITB and then STAYED a consistent main eventer afterward.
The 6-man tag ended fine. It was supposed to be a good debut for Jacob and to get Solo a much needed big victory. It accomplished what it was supposed to. They can save a return from Jimmy, Roman or Rock for later. I feel it probably didn't suit being the final match on the card though. Second to last would have been ok and the women's MITB match would have been a great main event.
The reason why some people might think Roman or others could come during MITB is because of the need of immediate results to happen. Luckily, WWE administration and creative think long term and will keep us entertained during the last semester of the year.
Last I knew (it may be different now under HHH), the ref has to call it down the middle. Otherwise they get fined or fired. WWE depends on realism. It's an actual rule (was under Vince's watch, anyway)
Rollins and Priest did a Falcon Arrow counter, counter, Falcon Arrow to finish the match. I said to my friend I wonder if Rollins couldn’t get Priest on the first one coming off injury and they added the counter counter to play it off. And maybe production was thrown off not thinking that was the spot for Drew to enter. Could’ve been so many different things but I do think it was productions fault. Though Priest should’ve kicked out regardless knowing he was going over.
There is only one way to make WWE look good in this: make this a storyline. Liv Morgan payed the referee to not let Damian Priest lose. On Raw they should suspend the referee for a few months (in storyline).
the ref would’ve counted the 3 and they would’ve just dealt with the switch if the match didn’t have major stipulations on the judgement day and seth’s future challenging damien as well
I don’t think they should just force another women's match onto the card just for the sake of it. Bayley keeps getting put into title matches without much build and so I like that they're going to have some decent time to tell a story between her and Nia before SummerSlam without shoehorning Bayley in somewhere on the show as some sort of filler. I hope Bayley gets some in-ring promo time too, because most of her matches since winning the title have been pushed via backstage segments. She deserves a better stage. I suppose they could have held off the Liv/Zelina title match for MITB, but considering the quality of matches they had at MITB, another match added would have diluted that and I see no other women's feud that would justify being on the card either.
I wouldn't go as far to say Solo looked like a chump but I enjoyed the irony that Solo was saved a couple times just as Roman was often saved by the Bloodline. Solo looks down on Roman for needing his family, specifically him, as much as he did to secure victory but he's finding out that being the Tribal Chief is a big responsibility and the target you put on yourself isn't to be taken lightly. Heavy lies the crown, or in this case, 'ula fala.
The 6 man tag was the main event for many reasons. The one reason you and everyone else failed to mention, the main reason is that Solo pinned Cody. That means Solo vs Cody is 99% going to happen at Summerslam. Also, we didn't need any more women's matches. The MITB match was more than enough
This is the 3rd PPE where there was a "botch" or a questionable decision or move. I just wish we had clear decisions because it pulls into question or dimishes some of the bouts but I guess thems the breaks
5th, think about the last 5 PLEs.
Triple H clearly stated that Damien botched… not sure why everyone is trying to excuse Damien when he clearly missed his cue
Folks pick and choose when they want to believe what's said in press conferences.
Whenever I say "but hhh said this..." in the past I get hit with "well he's just saying that. Doesn't mean it's actually what happened"
So idc what he said anymore lol I'll give my own opinion and move on like everyone else.
@@Dporticus I think we do have to pick and choose when to believe what’s said in press conferences because not everything coming out of their mouths is true.
That being said, there’s no reason for Triple H to lie and make one of his world champions look bad instead of blaming some random guy in production that no one’s heard of is hard to believe for me. To each their own though
Believe there was no other women's match so as not to have anyone think there would be the possibility of a cash in that night. That has been the situation with the women the last few years. Every time there was a women's cash in immediately on the same show.
I'm with you and say this was not a "waste" for the men's MITB either. You are right that it has become something of a crutch since it was created back at WM 21 in 2005!
Glad they have been attempting to make it less predictable over the last few years by having some fail.
The first hell of cell match at bad blood in 1997
A little disappointed that it’s not being held in St. Louis. Especially since it’ll be on the date of the anniversary. Kane better make an appearance at least 😂
Drew vs Punk won't end on one match, nor the standard 3 i feel. This will be an ongoing rivalry
When i first saw that shirt and towel i texted a friend "FUCK THAT TOWEL, FUCK THAT TOWEL" but honestly, im just glad he gets to go out on his own terms, not many wrestlers do
Uncle howdy said “Now there’s false prophets berating, belittling their own family for their own gain. It’s disgusting. They must pay for their sins.”
That could be Chad gable with Alpha Academy being his “family”
But it makes more sense with all the “I don’t want the smoke they can have the fireflies back”
And the fact Nikki Cross has been in the ring with gable twice and they’re not attacking him anymore then the debut night.
Definitely targeting Uso
Both MITBs were great, but the women's MITB was absolutely great. It will be interesting how WWE handles the situation with Nia Jax (Queen of the Ring) and Tiffy (Ms. Money in the Bank).
I would have liked Bron Breakker to be champion, I think it was a great moment for it. As much as I like Sami Zayn, I don't like that decision.
Not much is being said about the backstage segment of The Judgment Day. Finn Balor is tired of Damian Priest. It is obvious that at Summerslam it will be Balor who costs Priest the title.
Solo getting a win over Cody gives him a much needed big victory and most likely sets up a title match at SummerSlam. It makes complete sense. Cody is somewhat protected by the fact that it was Jacob who really was the linchpin in that decision. Without him, the finish probably wouldn't have ended in Cody losing. It's ironic because Solo needed Jacob to win like Roman often needed Solo.
Makes no sense. Why would the ref stop the count when Drew’s music hit, especially if it was right before the hand comes down. The ref wouldn’t even have time to process the music
It's happened in the past, whatchu mean??
I always bet on Sami zayn. I wanted him to win and I want him to ein every match he is in. He should have won and he did. He is better than transitional champ material he needs to hold onto this and then win a world title at wrestlemania. He is that guy
From what i gather, the music was not supposed to hit until after the kickout, according to the press conference. It was a plain and simple mistake. Damien Priest didn't hear the first count, and was waiting for the second before kicking. But the second would have been the third, and the match would have ended, so the ref didn't make it, and Damien didn't kick. I'm sure Priest is beating himself up over the whole thing way more than other people are criticizing him for it
The PLE was predictable for the most part. But not every show can be nail biting, on the edge of our seats.
The woman's ladder match was the best. Chelsea's bump through the table was moment of the night for me ❤️
Yooo ima be at Cleveland summer slam too! If I see ya out there would love to grab a picture with you!
Flag me down if you see me!
So I have to disagree on a few things:
1. Sami beating Bron makes sense storyline wise. For weeks Bron has been blaming other people for his shortcomings. Whether it's Bronson reed, Ricochet, Adam Pierce etc. With this loss, he has no more excuses. His loss is his mistake and he has no one to blame but himself.
2. The cash in was not a waste. I've seen that briefcase go to waste multiple times in the past. Miz/Otis, Cena, Damian Sandow, Austin Theory. This was not a waste. It further heats up the rivalry between Drew & Punk while also involving Seth in this feud.
Hhh pretty much said the botch was on Damien in the post show.
Does anybody know how to talk about wrestling without bringing up “booking” anymore?
I don't have an issue with the booking with the men's briefcase. However, I do think there could have been 2 interesting scenarios with Jey.
1. At SummerSlam there is a beat down after the mainevent. Either the Bloodline beats down Cody after Cody beats Solo or maybe Roman takes out a champ Solo and Jey comes out to cash in.
2. Jey ultimately sacrifices his shot a singles title and uses that briefcase to cash in on a tag titles for him and Jimmy reuniting the Usos
The PLE was the same day as they buried Romans father, no way he was showing up at MITB.
The women's MITB match for sure was match of the night, but to say it carried the show downplays the rest of the card which held its own.
I didn't believe that Roman or Jimmy would show up during the main event and I'm glad they didn't. IMO, the whole purpose of the match was to boost the new Bloodline and Solo's credibility as actual threats. If Jimmy or Roman had shown up, it would have completely overshadowed Solo and the rest of the Bloodline when they so DESPERATLY needed a win
I think some people misunderstand money in the bank. The briefcase isn't a guarantee of a title reign, and if you don't get that title reign it's a "waste", but rather it's a story device. In this case, the device was used to reinsert Seth Rollins into the punk feud. It makes sense for Drew to cash in on the man who cashed in on him, and it makes sense for Punk to continue to meddle in Drews business, and now because of both men's short sighted goals, Seth is now involved and pissed.
Also, every year the women's case has been a short term holding, because it's tedious to write two people having the same story of holding the case long term and waiting for their opportunity to strike. With the men's case written out for the next year, that's more star power on the womens money in the bank, and opens us up to a longer period of time where Tiffany can be a menace stalking the title scene. To me, these booking decisions are sound.
I NEED Jey with a singles title sooner than later!! He had such a great part in the last 6m/year storylines and I think he needs to be rewarded. Also, the women consistently bring it in these PLEs
I truly don't understand the weird pushback against Solo by the IWC, it honestly feels like people are getting worked *shiver* because Solo is meant to be the guy you hate because he's unworthy of Roman's crown, but it's resulted in people unmovingly saying he "looks like a chump" and "has no aura" when he's doing some of the best work of his (admittedly short) career right now
I think they are going to use Bron's loss to build on. Where he has to combine more cleverness with his style. Or maybe step up how ruthless he is. Getting out played by a veteran is sort of a sports tradition. I think we are going to see a Cena/Bron feud. Culminating in Bron learning to handle things at the very peak. Cena is going to want to get someone over. Sort of like how Mick Foley helped cement Randy Orton as a legit star.
As for the Priest/Rollins thing... I feel like they should not use entrance music to stop a count anyways. No reason he cannot kick out then have the music hit, or as it hits. I know the refs are pretty weak and prone to minutes long bouts of being knocked out... but counting to 3 is a simple task.
They played up Bron Breaker hurting his knee during the match, and that's what kept him from executing his spear. So i feel like that protects him. His spear is being built as a kill shot, which is good. Seems like a Summerslam win for Bron is where we are heading, and I'm okay with that.
What do you expect when you make a midcarder your world champion?
Anyone planning to join Bad Blood here in Atlanta? Ready for a great Hell in a Cell, baby!
I pretty much called everything that happened during this show. Al the way down to which 3 members of The Bloodline would be in the match. The only thing I got wrong was Sami winning, and although I think it's a questionable decision, I don't think it's a wrong decision. Overall, I agree with all your views here. I've been arguing the same thing in my friend groups. I'm not as high on the Women's MITB Match as a lot of other people. There were a lot of miscues that just kinda took me out of it. Even still, it was better than the Men's BY-FAR.
Also, I hope I get to say hi at Summer Slam! I live just about an hour south of Cleveland so I'm VERY excited to experience a "Big 4"
It would have made more sense if just when Drew had his fingers on the briefcase or as he's beginning to unhook it punk hits him with a chair. The rest of the assault could play out like it did IRL, leaving Jay Uso to get the briefcase which he could have used to cash in on a bloodline member if and when one beats Cody for the belt.
Apparently Randy Orton and John Cena has never faced at WM so I would like to see that. Would LOVE a Kurt Angle vs John Cena too but that might be too wild
Let's compare CM Punk vs. Drew as a level system in a game.
At level 1, when you get 100XP, you go to level 2. If you get 300XP at level 1, you would go to level 3.
But when you're at level 90 and get 100XP or 200XP, you won't go to level 91 or 92 cause it's very likely to be just 1% or 2% of the total XP to level up!
And that's what happened with Punk and Drew this saturday. Their rivalry is already at level 90, and to make it even higher, they would need to inject a LOT of XP to make it progress! So, making Punk interfere in the MITB match or the Cash-in itself would make no difference for the rivalry itself. Maybe an AJ Lee would be that injection of high XP in this situation!
But looking at a more open point of view, Punk interfering in the MITB match would help others like Chad Gable and "Main Event" Jey Uso FINALLY become Main Event contenders!
I would like there to be one more match at these PLEs. Only one ladies match was lame. Overall the event was fun.
The briefcase is WWE's McGuffin
For the Jimmy/Roman/Rock thing re: what youre missing, three words:
*Bloodline. Civil. War.*
This is the one storyline that everything about Solo's takeover has been building to, and the one thing everyone wants to see coming out of Solo's new lineup. Roman's OG Bloodline with the Usos VS Solo and his new Bloodline, with The Rock as a wild card who takes control of the winning faction as backup in his runback against Cody.
I see that theyre playing the long game here, and I don't disagree with the operating principle behind it, of actually establishing Solo as a threat so that his faction vs Roman's actually has some weight, but that's why everyone was expecting a return of some kind, ESPECIALLY when Triple H promised surprises after it was announced that RKO-des V Bloodline was going to be the main event/closer.
for me it was a decent show i feel they could of done the same thing with punk screwing over drew in the MITB ladder match costing him the chance to win it and had someone else win the match, the WMITB was awesome and i would watch it again. The main event was good as well, jacob fatu reminds me of lance archer in aew cause they got similar builds and hair style but wwe has already shown hes a future star in one night something wwe is very good at.
The way you phrased “depending on the MITB” is sticking with me because it’s both right and wrong. It’s right because it is something consistently look forward to, because it’s one of the most exciting parts of the year. It’s wrong because was never a thing where it was exclusively there to fill a drought of content. MitB was exciting when WWE was at its best and worst too. It’s just an exciting stipulation that’s led to some of the most iconic moments of all time. It’s second only to the Royal Rumble in terms of setting a trajectory for major storylines and elevating people into new heights. There’s a reason WWE considered making this their 5th stadium show.
I can see Punk and McIntyre at Badd Blood in a Hiac match to blow off their feud
I don’t agree with saying it’s no one’s fault on the priest botch. In a situation like that, I feel like the ref just has to count out and they have to pivot the story. Have the fact that Damien was never able to win on his own haunt him and cause him to break away on his own and work harder. I just feel like that mistake invalidates the whole match. Ref should’ve just seen it through
I disagree with the take, but that's okay. We're all welcome to have our opinions. Personally, I would have liked to have the breifcase lingering for the added element of surprise. It's a complete wild card that can change things up when we may not expect it, and this entire outcome was lackluster and predictable. Keep doing your thing homie.
Totally fair!
At what point does Randy orton look like he's gonna have a heel turn I want to rewatch that match to see what I missed so can anyone tell me what to look out for please.
