      These cards were made to be more "fair" compared to cards today. Most cards now special summon themselves, are hand traps, effect that activates on discard, effect when in grave, effect when banished, negate, banish, pop, search, add themselves back to hand/deck.

      @@uuh4yj43 the best ones must be:
      special summoners:
      Il Blud, Gigaplant, doom shaman, blazewing butterfly
      darkstorm dragon is a heavy storm on legs
      heavy knight of the flame is cheap eater of millions
      the zombie and plant summoners have plenty of generic support and even had their own combo decks back in the day. you will need a deck that doesn't use the normal summon tho.
      (i did the gemini mission playing eldlich gemini zombies, it was alright a year ago and in low powered events)

    The problem with Geminis (besides having terrible effects) is that they are normal monsters on field and in grave. All the best and most meta relevant vanilla support targets normal monsters in the hand or deck, where Gemini are treated as effect monsters. Printing good vanilla support for the field and grave would buff Gemini and normal monsters at the same time.
    Otherwise they’ll always just be objectively worse effect monsters.

      Also, a lot of them don't support geminis. Because konami often just threw in a random gemini monster as archetype support.

      Three Words: Red-Eyes Gemini.
      Return of the Red=Eyes is like the ultimate support for Gemini resurrection, Gemini Ablation is the ultimate Gemini summoner.... TOO BAD it can be negated by Ash Blossom and she negates both effects which makes it even more negative if you want to tribute a effect Gemini and pop a card, Catalyst Field is honestly a necessity to summon Gemini monsters with no tributes as well as pop cards on your opponent's field, Golknight is an important searcher and useful to use for Catalyst's popping effect, so is Evocator Eveque and it also helps in resurrection, and finally Sublimation Knight to go into any of the Gemini monsters you need by crashing it into the opponent.... only if the opponent doesn't negate it...

The problem with it is getting out 2 geminis on the field tho

    There were just so many stupid choices made with Gemini: Why make every single double summon effect card apart from "Double Summon" remove them from the field at the end of the turn; why is Supervise an equip spell; why is the fusion not a Gemini or treated as one when on the field; why so many of them have OPT; where is the Gemini fusion spell.
    I still love them. In fact, one of the decks I used the most against my friends is actually Gemini (not even Chemi, but the first wave of Gemini monsters), but man do I hate the fact that they tried to overbalance an archetype _centered almost exclusively around normal summoning a monster twice._ I really hope they revisit them one day and hopefully modernize the archetype a little bit.

  • @flackenstien

    The problem with Gemini is not the mechanic, but the effects the monsters gain.
    They need to be stronger than any self-summoning monsters that don't take up your Normal Summon of similar Level. Like, a Level 4 Gemini should equate to a Level 6~8 Synchro in power. Instead Level 4 Gemini usually are on par with.. Level 4 monsters.. from 2008.

    • @joanaguayoplanell4912

      Mainly because 90% of geminis were made in 2008, and Konami saw they were so obviously awful it gave up on them besides on Red Eyes where they are glorified vanillas or on Chemicritters where they revisited the mechanic solely to be able to say they did cover all of them.

    Make Gemini good?
    1. There is good Gemini, Blazewing Butterfly, and Gemini Insect monster, which means you can send this card with Giant Ballpark and summon all 3 copies from deck. The effect is good, because this card can tribute itself and reborn any Gemini as effect monster.
    2. So, maybe it will be good if Konami makes an Insect Gemini that can work or search Giant Ballpark too. Besides, I want Giant Ballpark to be more consistent too.
    3. I already see Konami try to make another playable Gemini in FIRE Warrior type. So, FIRE Insect and Warrior Gemini based arctype would be interesting.
    4. Most important, the main problem of Geminis isn't in their summon mechanic. But their effect is mostly trash. They're slower than a trap and have limited "normal summon", and the effect be like "This card's name become Elemental HERO Trash". Bro, just give them "a little broken" effect because how slow they are.
    5. Gemini with hand effect, I think it will be okay.

    • @Badbufon
      @Badbufon Год назад

      it would be funny, but i genuinely doubt they are capable of doing good support for gemini.....or at all, really.
      for gemini it has to be off the walls absurdly broken to be even be remotely playable, and we are talking about the people who recently put a fire lock in a salamangreat searcher rendering it unplayable for competitive play, they don't have the balls to do so.

    • @johnlucas2838
      @johnlucas2838 Год назад

      While I do see the uses of Blazewing, Gemini Ablation just is better. It's like looking at Guardian of Felgrand vs Paladin of Felgrand, everyone will choose Paladin more because Guardian needs set up while Paladin sets up itself; Blazewing needs set up. Gemini Ablation does not, Paladin of Felgrand's brother from another deck is literally Sublimation Knight. Summon Sublimation Knight equip a Gemini from the deck preferably Golknight, crash, summon Golknight search and have a 2k beater, go into Catalyst or Gemini Ablation. As well... I consider the use Evocator Eveque as more beneficial compared to Blazewing, instead of sending a body to the grave to summon another body, this just whips out a body from the grave.

    Alien Hypno might seriously be one of the most underrated Gemini's out there. Not OPT and can literally steal all your opponents monsters and is an actual turn 2 boss monster. It requires some setup, but the Alien Link 3 searches enablers like Alien Overlord, or it searches Code A Ancient Ruins that allow you to revive a Hypno from grave while also providing the second Normal Summon to gain its effect.

    Best way they could have done gemini is to make them into effect monsters with an effect and if you normal summon it, it gains another effect. For instance how about a gemini monster with an effect to monster reborn a gemini monster for 1k LP and it's gemini effect makes it so the gemini monster summoned gains its gemini effect. Atleast make them useful on the field and not require another card to do anything.

    I find it weird that people say things like their effects are average at best, but the fact that the matter is most of these Gemini monsters have effects that boss monsters have and a lot of these are just like level 4 bodies. Like how many creatures do you know that can just destroy a creature once per turn for free? I'm not talking about a boss monster. I'm talking about what archetype has a level 4 monster that can be normal. Summoned that can just destroy a monster in the field once per turn. The only reason people say these things are average at best is because most level four monsters are extenders that give hand advantage or some s***.

    Yep glad to see us discovering every problem with Gemini at once: Their effects are mid as fuck, Chemicritters are actually kinda modern so they were printed with hard OPTs, none of their extra deck support cards can be Gemini because of what that tag actually *means* for card's effects. Extreme field reliance through a meta of Runick and now Tears, and the field boosts the deck to playable at best. There are no Link or Pendulum supports so we're stuck ED cards that are painful to even summon, such that HARD DRAWING POLY as the best enabler. Ablation is good but slow, same with Golknight.
    God I wish Konami put in a shred of effort into making these cards actually playable.

    2:52 - WTF were you expecting?!? A ghost copy of the card in hand?!? It's already *ON* the goddamn field! Of *COURSE* you click on the card YOU'RE TRYING TO SUMMON TO SUMMON IT, HOW IS THAT A BAD INTERFACE?!?
    6:15 - Calling Raptinus the "Boss monster of the Geminis" is like calling Kitkallos the "boss monster" of Tearlaments. Or, more accurately, calling Oracle the "boss monster" of Gravekeepers because they're both terrible monsters in their respective archetypes that even those who *PLAY* the archetypes NEVER FUCKING USE.
    Black Brutedrago, Darkstorm Dragon, Phoenix Gearfried, those are *WAY* more akin to boss monsters than shit like Raptinous.
    Furthermore... WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE FORCED TO SUMMON YOUR EXTRA DECK MONSTER *AGAIN* BEFORE GAINING ITS EFFECT?!? Because that's what you'd be advocating for if you wanted Raptinous to be a Gemini. You want an already unplayable strategy to be MORE unplayable?!?

    • @syrelian
      @syrelian Год назад

      A: The bad interface is the problem where it doesn't have any additional keywords to the Summon, like "Gemini" so its just confusing, like Geminis are in actual paper
      B: Raptinus could simply have the text "This card is treated as a Gemini card with its effects" added, and thus actually synergize with effects for Gemini support

    • @TheTaintedWisdom
      @TheTaintedWisdom Год назад

      @@syrelian "it doesn't have any additional keywords to the Summon, like 'Gemini'"
      There is literally no reason for that.
      1) You don't need to distinguish it from other summons, because even the most mouth-breathing, family-humping genetic defective can see it's ALREADY ON THE FIELD! I know people are idiots but how brain-dead do you have to be to not realize that if you're getting the option to summon something that's already on the field that the card is different?!?
      2) "Gemini Summon" doesn't even mean anything from a mechanics standpoint. It's just another Normal Summon ...that's it. The only reason "Pendulum summon" exists is because some cards can _be_ summoned a certain way and certain cards can _respond_ to Pendulum summons specifically. (That, and them being tied to Link arrows change how they function.) But calling it a "Gemini Summon" would just confuse people as to why they can still be destroyed with Trap Hole if they weren't normal summoned, or confuse opponents as to why their special summon negate didn't work. It just adds a label to something that doesn't need one to begin with. Besides, again, what kind of paleolithic-era-brained Neanderthal is going to look at an option that doesn't appear for ANY OTHER TYPE OF CARD OUT OF OVER 10,000 and think to themselves: "Hur! Dis must nawt bee da ting me am trying two due cuz it no spesiffically say 'Jemineye' awn eet."

    • @syrelian
      @syrelian Год назад

      @@TheTaintedWisdom Gemini Summon actually is mechanically distinct from a normal summon, for one, you don't need to Tribute to perform it for a Lv5+ Monster, which is a completely bespoke mechanic unexplained anywhere on the card, its just a ruling you have to know about this supposedly normal summon on a card that's already on the field, Geminis break a ton of rules and do it in the most obtusely written way with terrible terminology
      And its not like there isn't already a kind of Summon that isn't a Special Summon but has a name, Flip Summon

    • @TheTaintedWisdom
      @TheTaintedWisdom Год назад

      @@syrelian "Gemini Summon actually is mechanically distinct from a normal summon, for one, you don't need to Tribute to perform it for a Lv5+ Monster"
      Fusilier Dragon The Dual Mode Bease? Mist Archfiend? Majestic Mech? Beast King Barbaros? etc. There are *several* 5+ monsters that can be normal summoned without tributing.
      While it would be nice if there were tutorials in the game to explain certain mechanics that aren't laid out in the card text, adding "Gemini" to the summon text is not that.
      "And its not like there isn't already a kind of Summon that isn't a Special Summon but has a name, Flip Summon"
      Because... say it with me... it's *DISTINCT* from other types of summons. Most effects prevent _Normal_ or _Special_ Summons. So if you can protect a monster you Set previously, you can circumvent otherwise crippling restrictions by Flip Summoning.
      But you can't do that shit with Gemini summoning because, again, it's not a distinct type of summon, so you can't say "no, no, no, see, I'm not Normal summoning, I'm _"Gemini"_ summoning, and since Rhongo Bongo says I can't _Normal or Special_ summon that means I can just stick my fingers in my ears and go "lalalala I can't hear you." when you tell me I'm wrong and that's not how it works.

    • @syrelian
      @syrelian Год назад

      @@TheTaintedWisdom All of those monsters you listed explicitly state they can be summoned without Tributes, Gemini does not and has no other text implying it has special mechanisms to how it works, unlike say, Spirit Monsters or Toon Monsters, which reiterate the exacts of their mechanics on every card, because the existence of the card type is not itself an explanation
      A Tribute Summon is also still a Normal Summon, adding a word onto it doesn't make it not a Normal Summon, just because you're being willfully obtuse and ignorant doesn't mean you're actually saying anything meaningful
