    How I prepared for Army Basic Combat Training.
    Spiritually, Mentally, and Physically.
    It all starts with the Spirit and Mind and the Physical will follow.
    Find your weakness, make a plan and attack your weakness. Mine was strength and rucking so I focused on strength training and rucking.

      Brilliant! You are awesome!! If I don’t ride on the racetrack next year, that will break a 16 year streak!

    My journey is very similar to yours. I am 36 years old and will be turning all my paperwork in to my recruiter next week. I did great on the practice asvab and my recruiter says the age is no issue. The only issue was that I weighed 195 at 5'9" (that was a few months ago) I am down around 175 now. My question for you is if you could make a video or possibly just right out a training sheet on how you trained from a 14min mile to now averaging 7-8min over 5 miles! Very impressive brother! Thank you for the videos and keep them coming!

    41 year old. Enlisted after a decade delay due to family health issues/having kids. Always had my “why.” Wife told me to join since it is literally my last shot. Didn’t want to be the grandpa and catch heat for the age but who cares! Age is just a number. 89 on ASVAB, no studying… 599 on ACFT! All the grandpa jokes stopped after I was lapping the kids. Glad I joined even later. Army Reserves. 35Lima. Keep my federal job and do my weekend warrior work to give back. Biggest help to the running was my Zone 2 heart rate training. I spent 80% of weeks doing Zone 2. 1 day doing zone 3. Another day of Zone 5 with sprints. Another big tip I got was to do as much mobility and flexibility workouts! Stretching every single day as much as possible! Helps with the 35-43 crowd.
    Good luck to you and can’t wait to see how everything went!

      That’s awesome! Sounds like you are crushing it. Having support is huge. Glad you took the plunge and did it! I graduated at a 68w last week. Just waiting for Airborne orders now. Once that is complete I’ll be stationed with the 82nd in NC!

    I thought it was interesting that u aimed to keep heart rate low to lose weight. Can u elaborate??

    • @daboscharmy
      @daboscharmy  9 месяцев назад +2

      Great question! With lower heart rate training you burn more fat. Higher heart rate, your training VO2 max and anaerobic. You also train your body to become more efficient at using oxygen to produce energy. You can train longer this way therefore burning more calories and fat. Recovery will be a lot faster so you can train more. The risk of being injured is also lower training as slower speeds while your body adapts to the exercise and impact if your over weight.

      @@daboscharmy thank you, very informative! when I get back to working out, I plan to take this into account. I think it's probably good for training the mind too. I struggle with impatience, so I think that slow physical training can translate in to slowing the mind too.

      @@daboscharmy I was at fort campbell for the majority of my time, the 2 most common assignments for medics are gonna be “on the line” just means a medic for a platoon of guys usually infantry or scouts, or in a clinic/hospital under a provider.

      @@daboscharmy I actually hated the army for about a year and a half because i just did too much. I tried to do every single high speed school because at first I wanted to go sf, so pretty much back to back i went to air assault, airborne, ranger, and SERE schools learned a bunch but man take your time there is no rush, except for pathfinder in my case there was actually a rush because they were talking about closing the school at campbell

      Does having Airborne in your contract give you a higher chance of attaching to a line or not really?
