John Ramirez we already know marines are retarded. The most disgusting thing I saw at MEPS was all the marines during the duck walk with some disgusting ass toe nails. Fuck all that.
I was set to go to basic training, but my recruiter fked everything up. She had to be the worst recruiter. I took 3 years of ROTC in high school in preparation for a career in the military. I graduated at 17 from high school because my birthday is in July. Her 1st fk up, she sends me to meps in June. I can't be processed because I'm still 17 and had no parental signature. 2nd fk up she sends me back after I turn 18, only to be told at meps there isn't a slot available. 3rd fk up she sends me back to meps ready to go to boot camp, while at meps I'm told my slot had be assigned to someone else. I told her to kick rocks that I was no longer interested. I was trying to get into the infantry, to follow in my dad's foot steps. Looking back, I should have tried to go into the Marines. 1989 was a different time and Desert Storm would be for a few more years, so I guess the Army didn't care about getting every recruit available.
Your packet from MEPS should have all your important documents in it. All you need is that, your wallet, and your cellphone. i wouldnt bring anything else. One or two changes of clothes max. All your stuff, including your phone will be locked up from day one until you graduate, unless youre lucky and you get to use those phones once you get into the second or third phase. They will give you an Eagle Cash Card, with $300-ish cash advance from your first paycheck and you will be required to buy several items, underwear, socks, hygiene supplies, stamps, paper, all that. You cant use cash and you cant use your debit card. This was my experience in '11 at Fort Sill
...Arrived Marine Corps Boot Camp (San Diego) June 12, 1968... Obviously we had no cell phones... but we did have combination locks... Issued to us (charged against our pay, recruit BX...) Small one went on footlocker...larger bicycle lock went through safety on our M14s and fastened to holes in our racks. (By the end of Vietnam war had to be kept in armory...) Big-time warning re combination locks... You've got three minutes to grab something and be outside...and you keep fumbling with combination... Recruits often got tempted to lock, then do combination, just require a pull to open... How to get your wallet stolen out of your footlocker... . ...Worse... at the range we got a new-broom series officer... While D.I.'s had us at mess hall, he went through our platoon barracks and jerked every combination lock on rifles (at range fastened to rifle racks...) Half the locks opened and he had offending rifles removed to his office... When we got back, not only did the recruits get hit with this ghastly scenario...but our D.I.s as well...which of course doubled hell for idiots involved... We were ordered to get our rifles and fall in...in the normal spot... If our rifle not in the racks...fall in a separate formation... (My lock was pre-set...but Lt. must have jerked at wrong angle or something because, when I went to get my rifle, it was still there (and came off with slight pull...God was merciful to me that day...) -YP-
After getting through it and looking back. I would have brought a small travel bottle of dish soap to wash my camel back and other stuff. There was only hand soap available the entire time
I always wanted to avoid the Military cause of dry hands, my hands get extremely uncomfortable after touching water and them drying. I don't know what it is but they always have been that way since I was young so maybe I can bring lotion or vaseline if I consider the military route.
I went to basic in feb, don’t bring anything...they will either 1 tell you to throw everything out or 2 it’ll get locked up and you’ll get it after graduating..
My recommendation is to just take what your recruiter tells you. You will have to lug every thing you take until you unpack when you get off the bus. Plus, when you get out of basic, you will not only have your personal baggage you brought with you to basic, but you will have a military duffle bag filled with your basic military issue clothing. Now you have two bags to carry. There was a few people when I went to Basic, that after basic, they bought a bunch of clothes and ghetto blasters at the p.x. It was comical watching them carry three and four bags at the airport. Wait until you gat through with your basic and AIT before you start accumulating stuff.
Dont take shit but the clothes on your back and your wallet, you will get everything there!Take your phone and charger for Graduation day when you get it back, make sure your phone is 100% charged to make calls home when you can!
Phone (fully charged) (make sure you have a case because shit gets tossed around literally) Civilian ID Charger Running shoes Pants Shirt Plain Socks Don’t bring too much because all this shits going onto a cage room once you get to basic and you won’t see it for at least a month Near the end you will be able to get your running shoes out of your bag to use If you are real squared away show up to basic in RFI issued Gen 5 iotv Combat shirt Combat pants Dark eyepro OCP Boonie And wear Rocky’s Combat boots
Don't take tide pods, the black socks, the underwear, the civilian clothes, or mouth wash. They threw out the tide pods the first night, and they locked up all the clothes the first day its pointless tbh
My hands can get quite dry, would I be allowed to bring a small unscented hand lotion? What do you know about bringing a small tub of vaseline/chapstick for my lips?
Packing List? I don't know about you Army guys, but this is an easy question, nothing but the clothes on your back and paperwork. That's all you need. Everything else you bring will be considered contraband and either thrown out or you'll send it back home.
If you wear glasses, bring a spare pair. Army will issue glasses, but it takes a while to get them. Some drill sergeants will let you wear them thru the cycle. Extra tightly whities can not hurt either. This is my experience from fort fix in the winter of 1987.
When I went to Basic, several guys brought cologne. The Drill Sergeants marched them around the common area and had them spray it until it was all gone. "Make this place smell good" they said. Holding up the rear was a guy who brought his girlfriend's panties. They made him wear them on his head. I went to Ft. Jackson in '99. Small one went on footlocker...larger bicycle lock went through safety on our M14s and fastened to holes in our racks.
We had a guy in my platoon make a grand from doing fire gaurd shifts and cleaning lockers
Don't bring any extra luggage... Keep It simple Soldier. ADVICE: This is the start of your new life!!!;;
Holy shit, two days after I sign my contract, you stalking me? Thanks for the Vid
Thanks for the info heading for forth Jackson on the 29th
Backpacks are recommended over any duffel bags.
How come?
Leaving in 7 days, thanks for the tips!
Leaving this Tuesday to Fort Benning thanks
My recruiter didn’t give me no type of a list so idk wat to bring 😂
I leave in 3 weeks!!! Really nervous, good video !!
Dont take shit but the clothes on your back and your wallet, you will get everything there!Take your phone and charger for Graduation day when you get it back, make sure your phone is 100% charged to make calls home when you can!
Can I a bring a small pack back with a few things ?
@@xxsilver_gamingxx389 yes like travel size items, your bag will be stored away with the others so try to get a recognition bag for yourself
Mr. Nobody What do you mean by recognition bag ..
?
@@xxsilver_gamingxx389 a bag that will standout from the others
I believe you can have electric shaver black people can't use regular razors depending on texture of hair
Leaving September 3rd for Ft. Benning 11x Option 40
Know of more than a few well supplied individuals that brought in nicotine patches hidden in their private running shoes.
I've been to Benning, Leonard Wood, Casey, Hood Carson.
in 1984 there wasn't anything to bring. I was given what I needed.

If you don’t have ur drivers license, can u still join the military and get ur license in the military ?
Yes. You will at least need a state ID though. You still get that from the DMV but it’s just an identification card with your photo.

Don’t bring too much because all this shits going onto a cage room once you get to basic and you won’t see it for at least a month
Near the end you will be able to get your running shoes out of your bag to use
If you are real squared away show up to basic in RFI issued Gen 5 iotv

Dark eyepro
OCP Boonie

What's with the white? I'd understand black, but what's the thinking behind that?
Hard to believe he brought a condom
Just came from basic few days ago ✌🏼
ara shahinian Awesome! Good job on getting through it. I hope you have a good army career
mac burger I’ve already finished my AIT too. Now im a 12B Combat Engineer
I'd bring a pack of smokes and a lighter. For those times when they say Smoke em if ya got em.😁
** YOUR * MIND & BODY !
Don't take tide pods, the black socks, the underwear, the civilian clothes, or mouth wash. They threw out the tide pods the first night, and they locked up all the clothes the first day its pointless tbh
I don't remember anyone sneaking anything in but we did sneak and buy snacks and hide them while we were in White and Blue phase!! 1987..
My hands can get quite dry, would I be allowed to bring a small unscented hand lotion? What do you know about bringing a small tub of vaseline/chapstick for my lips?
You probably would be fine. If not then they would just make you throw it away when you start.
Can I bring a regular sized bible with my family’s addresses written in it and stamps taped in the cover or would it get put away in the civilian bag?
Shipping date September 21st! Thank you for the tips
Good luck man
to benning? im shipping out that day as well 11x
Just in time shipping out in just about a week thanks lol
You out yet?
Blinker fluid
Sarnt sed tu breng it
Packing List? I don't know about you Army guys, but this is an easy question, nothing but the clothes on your back and paperwork. That's all you need. Everything else you bring will be considered contraband and either thrown out or you'll send it back home.
“To all my veteran’s snd active duty out there” what about reserves? 😂
How about shades /sun glasses ?
Can you bring your own lotion to basic training? And if you can, my recruiter said you would have an hour to get ready
I think they allow non scented lotion.
If you’re not technically supposed to bring your phone then how do you get it after basic is over?
Leaving next Tuesday for MP OSUT
How did It go? I leave aug 18
Good. The cold at FLW was awful.
In 1979 all I brought with me was a change of clothes and a couple of packs of cigarettes
Would Hanes socks with a red “HANES” on the bottom sole that you can’t even see be authorized or no?
Nope. Even though you would not see it they are going to possibly check what you have in your bag and will get on you if they are not all white.
Leaving for Basic Training FEB 18 11x 😎
If you wear glasses, bring a spare pair. Army will issue glasses, but it takes a while to get them. Some drill sergeants will let you wear them thru the cycle. Extra tightly whities can not hurt either. This is my experience from fort fix in the winter of 1987.
Leaving to Ft Sill Sept 24th
