- Last night I was squatting next to the small metal grates trying to lit the magnesium tablets beneath them, and all for the sake of heating up a meal from a French MRE.
First time when I realized that instead of flameless ration heater there is just a metal grate and magnesium tablets, I was pissed off because it meant I'll have to record this part of the video outside. As soon as I listened to the sound of burning magnesium tablets accompanied by the sound of slowly boiling souce, I was back in a good mood smiling to my neighbor who had just been peering with confusion through his window at the weirdo camping outside in the middle of the night.
For some reason he did not smile back.

Yep, they're way better. I can't say the same for most schools.
MREs are not better. They have massively low water content which leads to some pretty bad *cough cough* constipation after a few days of consuming them. They are good when you first eat them but what they do to you is not good, trust me.

Interesting enough that this MRE is extremely colorful and full of coffee and chocolate.

French rations are made from the best products from multiple brands, and not barf made by a sole company.
They were composed by chefs to keep troops morale.
Some include exotic meals like ostrich with cranberry sauce.
There are loads of different menus and dishes, so you don't get bored.

@@Shadowofthesoldier ever since vally forge the U.S miltary has kept a standard of "they are fed" not well necessarily but enough to keep them healthy and on their feet. In the end a lot of things are left up to the miltary in terms of the feeding of the rank and file and due to the plethora of men in active deployment across battle fields on the world stage it was decidedly a bad idea to feed them pricy foods. It's crap and we all wish to feed them better but the U.S is to involved in everyone's issues (blame the U.N not us) to feed them like that.

Agree. So much healthier than the shit the U.S. serves. Muesli, tea, nice dark chocolate...all of it looked not only delicious, but NUTRITIOUS. American MREs are processed garbage full of sodium and saturated fat. You’d think $750 billion a year would provide edible food in the field....nope.

Comparer a une ration américaine notre ration est bien plus diététique
Il faut savoir que sur le champs de bataille (d’apres certains soldats américains) 1 ration française = 2 voir 3 ration américaines.
Je le sais car j’ai connu quelqu’un qui ma dit qu’un americain lui avait donné 2 des ses rations contre une ration française.

I think France has the best MRE so far... Lots of chocolate goodies lol. But there's also more variety of food in this package as well.
Well there's a reason french are known for our gastronomy. I've seen a lot of comments saying that this MRE look a lot better than what some of you eat at lunch everyday at school and I'm like "what the hell do you guys eat if you even eat something in the first place ?"

I think the worst thing about the US one is the presentation. I don't think the actual food on offer is that bad but i would think that it would be beneficial to moral to package it in something a little nicer than just shades of brown plastic. I mean this almost looks more condensed and is of course stackable unlike those plastic bags and it also looks more like something you'd have while camping and not in a trench somewhere.
Army has a saying "Eat it now, taste it later." We never had a lot of time for nice little meals out in the middle of nowhere, but it sure would have been cute to sit around a table made out of a box without a tiny little meals all dished out, lol.
I still crave an MRE every now and then. The blueberry cobbler dessert was on point!

I love the anonymity of this channel. Anyone know any other good channels that just show the object at hand and focus on whats making the sound? Thats really what I try to do too. People who focus the camera on themselves definitely make great videos too, but its nice to mix it up.
