Did this project myself last year. Took way longer than a couple hours. Removing my old exhaust alone was 3-4 hours. But I also removed the downpipes too. Getting the new one installed seems trivial, but I had a really tough time getting it lined up properly, especially the part that goes over the axle. That took another 2-3 hours. What I have now works, but because of the alignment issue, occasionally the pipe will touch the underside of the car when I'm turning. The mufflers also seem to sit lower than they should. Guess I need to spend another hour tinkering with the alignment again.
Can't wait to get my GT, I'm saving up my money and will buy one used probably in June or July. This is probably going to be my first mod. I'm definitely going to vlog all of it and make it beautiful by the end of the summer. I'm getting a lot if ideas from AmericanMuscle's website. Can't wait, it's going to be sick!!
The old 2v Motors sound so much better with a Straight pipe than they do with mufflers and cats. Plus for a straight piped exhaust your looking at like $100 for a full 3" system + tips.
@@ogrecknerryzaog7125 The cat back means they connect to the piping right before where the cats would be. The catbacks don't actually connect to the cats they connect to the x-pipe but they connect close enough to the cats to be labeled as a cat back.
I wish I could do that in my state. I have to swap out my muffler once a year just to get a sticker and I don't even think I can remove two of my catalytic converters out of the four I have. Maine inspection laws can be pretty strict but thankfully there's still loopholes. There's people around here that would still sticker my car even if it was a little bit tampered with.
I like the style because those mufflers are not legal to sticker in my state so what I do is right before I get a sticker just disconnect the sops and connect some super 40s which are legal and go get a sticker, then come back and switch back to the slps so I can keep the sound that I want. It's not like the car is going to be stupid loud, just wanted to make some good noise going down the road.
The cat back would be better only because upgrades the whole Cat-Back system to 2.5" which definitely improve the sound, thankfully my Mustang when I bought it already had a full 2.5" Cat-Back so thankfully all I need to do is buy the SLP mufflers and clamp them on.
I got the slp loudmouth cat back exhaust for my 2001 mustang gt and it keeps rubbing against the frame on the left side of the pipe near the diff and I’m not sure how to fix it cause I’ve already tried moving the pipes around by losing up the clamps but what every I do it just doesn’t stay in place and keeps moving close to the left fram pice on the right side exhaust pipe and keeps rubbing no matter what I do how do I fix it
Hudson Hardin “excessive or unusual” exhaust noise is illegal but theres no definition as to how loud excessive or unusual is. So pretty much if you put this exhaust system on you may or may not get pulled over, but I’d say fuck it and do it anyway
I live in the more southern parts of Georgia but I hear loud ass sports cars and trucks (loud enough to turn heads) cruising around I think you'll be fine just don't go speeding around if you want to avoid cops
@@Eon70799well it kind of depends. Even if your exhaust system as loud as long as you're being easy on the pedal in town and short shifting or clutch in when there's a cop around you should be fine, but if you're hitting the gas as you're passing them then of course you're going to get pulled over. Lol
I'd suggest doing it, because even if you have a loud exhaust that doesn't mean you have to be loud all over the place. If your car is a manual you can short shift so your car doesn't hit that RPM where it starts to blat or clap pretty loud, and if you're at a good speed if you see a cop just push the clutch in and roll by and you should be completely fine.
Just buy the mufflers and have a exhaust shop cut those huge cans off and weld these Loudmouth1s on. I think it's about $170 a pair depending on who's selling them.
Honestly I'm pretty sure everything's illegal in California exhaust wise. I'm surprised they even still let you people drive V8s with how psychotic the people that run that place are. I don't understand how car enthusiasts can live in that restrictive place. At least here in Maine we have plenty of loopholes but I can't imagine getting away with anything down there.
I wouldn't do anything to your V6 exhaust Bub. It just will not sound good I can promise you that. I just don't understand why you people by the V6 versions, I literally bought my GT premium hardtop manual Mustang GT for 3500 and it was in pretty damn good condition and it even already came with the 2.5" flowmaster Cat-Back so all I have to change out is the muffler to the SLP and I'm good.
@@juansuarez8302 Exactly. I've seen gorgeous Mustang GTs around my 2002 GT year from anywhere between 3000 to 7500 in really good condition and I've seen the V6 mustangs literally going for around the same price so I don't get why people choose the V6 especially considering the V8 can still get really good gas mileage.
Eh, it looks like it's mostly surface rust. My Mustang had a lot of surface rust but thankfully me and my mechanic fixed it and cleaned it up and painted it so it'll never happen again. Sadly that's what happens when you drive your Mustang in the winter time or you drive it too early after the winter. Got to wait until 80 to 90% of the road salt is gone.
Looks like mostly surface Rust. Looks pretty fixable to me, just some sanding and then throw down a really good rust protectant and it will never rest again.
Good ole North east rust under the car

How old are you???
GO FOR IT! I recently got my 4.6l 2 months ago and I already the loudmouth but yet to be installed, take care of your beauty once you get her

@Angel Rivera An exhaust with no mufflers, cats, or resonators.
Nah, problem with straight piping is you lose a lot of tone. At least with slps you add a really awesome tone to it.
Yeah corsa would sound nice, if they made systems for them models 🙄
i have the whole slp setup longtube headers o/r xpipe and catbach, sounds perfect around 3k-4k rpm just wish it would pop more
How do you have a o/r if you have a catback?

Need to turn off that traction before you launch sounds good
Where can I buy the hardware for this, where the h pipe meets the new exhaust
So would the whole cat back be better or should I just get the slp resonators
Any answers?
I was thinking about doing that but went ahead and bought the cat back and SLP X-pipe with the Hi Flo cats.

Can someone help me I’m confused I live in Georgia and I’ve read it’s illegal to not use a muffler so is this system illegal? Thanks

Would this exhaust be legal in NC?
Since every state's exhaust law is different, I would highly recommend checking with a local shop before purchasing or installing. 😁 -Zach
I have mines straight pipe with these. Sounds way better
Angel Rivera delete the muffler and straight put a straight pipe right through it and deletes the resonators
Could I do this same setup on a Cadillac DTS 4.6 V8 Northstar engine I know nothing about exhaust
Just buy the mufflers and have a exhaust shop cut those huge cans off and weld these Loudmouth1s on. I think it's about $170 a pair depending on who's selling them.
okay but is it legal in California?
yes because it only changes the piping after the cats so it has no effect on emissions
