- Let's talk about Shigaraki's childhood and how he went from an aspiring hero to the main villain of the series. Originally known as Tenko Shimura, he lived with his parents, grandparents and sister (called Hana). However, a tragic set of events came into motion, with All For One potentially being the culprit.

Crazy backstory right? It's wild to me that the main villain of the series actually just wanted to be a hero. ALSO, Horikoshi has made it pretty obvious that All For One is the guy who gave him the decay quirk; not just because of 1:13 but also because it's way too *convenient* of a quirk for Shigaraki to just have naturally (from All for one's perspective)

I think All for one gave him the decay quirk I think he was originally gonna be quirkless but all for one made him a villain and Him killing Nana made Tenko’s father hate heroes

The thing that got me was when his mother was decaying but she still ran towards him to comfort him while his dad just hit him while backing up that shows you the difference between the two parents love towards them

Still dangerous yes but the difference is that she wouldn't be disintegrated immediately upon simply touching the area effected.

That was never my argument lol my argument is that the reason she went towards shigaraki with his quirk activated is not only because she loved him but also mainly due to the fact she most likely didn't know what his quirk was so she wasn't aware she was going to get disintegrated by simply touching the ground.

This explains why Shigaraki says “I’m sorry father.” When All Might knocked out his face hand.
The second he said that I knew he killed his father because he abused him.

Yildiz Yildiz Anyone who read the chapter can obviously tell he intentionally killed his father he said so himself. Getting smacked by his father with the hedge trimmer made him snap.

1- shigaraki is someone who is extremely traumatized and broken, he just remembered his memories.
2- author s notes about that chapters, it said chapter 235-236 arent based on facts but perspectives. İts shigaraki s perspective and we cant say that shigaraki s perspective is facts . There is no fucking way "a 5 years old child killed his father on purpose." Do i need to mention that that alll happenned after watching all family s death? He was already traumatized in that moment. And he attacked his father, AFTER HİS FATHER ATTACKED HİM. İts self defense.
When it comes to shigaraki, people suddenly become ignorance. You should more pay attention to this character.
Anyone can say "shigaraki did it on purpose" cause not anyone understand trauma and children s mind. a lot of people like you dont pay attention to this character or dont understand how trauma works. İ get it. İts ok to not knowing these things but if you really pay attention to this character, you would notice that shigaraki is keep condracting with himself so you would do some research. Dont suddenly jump the idea that he did it on purpose. Pay attention more.
So pay attention to this character more, if you really understand the series cause he is very important character for this series.

He Did More Harm Then what His Mother Ever Did.. shigaraki father had everything that his mom lacked. But squandered it because he brought his problems into his family life and Took his anger out on them.

I feel bad for the Shimura family, including Kotaro Shimura/the father. He suffered just as much as Tenko/Tomura did. As a matter of fact, I believe the way he actions towards Tenko and Hana, because of his mother Nana and all the other heroes is one of the main reasons why Tenko/Tomura hates All Might due to Kotaro’s abandonment as a child without any parents to properly raise him and that he truly loved them by not wanting them to follow in their Grandmother’s footsteps. The reason his mother left him in foster care was because Kotaro’s father (Nana’s husband) was killed by an unknown villain (presumably All for One). In my personal opinion, there are other ways that Tenko’s transformation into Tomura could’ve been avoided. Some people may blame the father, because of being abusive, but I believe part of that blame goes to Nana for not taking care of him and quitting the hero life or telling Gran Torino about Kotaro. If she told him, then maybe Kotaro and Toshinori would be like brothers. Kotaro being the younger brother, Toshinori being the older brother, and Gran Torino being the father figure they would look up too. If that happened, then Kotaro wouldn’t be resenting heroes. Kotaro would later meet Nao (Tenko’s mother) and Hana and Tenko would be born and they would grow up to be a hero family duo of siblings like they wanted.

Shigaraki is definitely my favorite character in all of BNHA. His backstory, in my opinion, is the best one we’ve seen in this anime. His character is so amazing and detailed and meaningful. I just can’t help but imagine how different things would be if someone had only helped him during that hard time. He probably would have gone on to be a better hero than All Might himself with his devotion and determination to become a hero. Thank you for this video! It cleared a lot of things up for me! 💜💜💜

Literally - I think Horikoshi has tried to make that parallel very clear. Young Deku and Shigaraki even look very similar

I think if you looked into the nature of incredibly good and incredibly evil people, you'd find that there are a lot of similarities, but there are key differences that make all the difference.
Todoroki also could've gone down this path. With the constant abuse, as well as his mother pouring hot boiling water on his face, permanently scaring the right side, symbolizing how he rejects his right side. If Todoroki somehow manifested his quirk the wrong way, like accidently burning his whole family, then there's no doubt that he would've turned into a villain.

I feel like Tenko would be able to touch other people if he had the type of costume as Mirio has, since he cannot decay himself. Not sure if that would work though, just something I thought about...

I feel like the mysterious man that walked Tenko home is All for One (I mean come on notice the shady look in the drawing) and secretly gave the decay quirk to Tenko just to accidentally kill his entire family and also the fact that his father was beating him only fueled him to go nuts. All for One was just watching them all this whole time and secretly planning to make Nana's whole family suffer and use her own grandchild against everything that Nana and All Might was fighting for. Tenko might be probably quirk-less after-all. All for One is thinking way far into the future just make Tenko into Tomura Shigaraki and use him against One for All. All for One is just pure, unfiltered evil.
Additional note, if you think how All for One thinks he won't just provide his power and resources to a child just to make him his "successor"? oh come on It's All for One we're talking here, he's clearly planning something to benefit himself. I think All for One is making tenko a suitable candidate for him to transfer his conciousness and all of his quirks and switch bodies. Just like Apocalypse is doing in X-Men Apocalypse.

Notice how the narrator says " hmmmm?" When he talks about how the suited man brought him home, we all a little suspicious.
Except that the manga heavily disproves the theory of Tenko Shigaraki being naturally quirkless since:
1) It's been stated how normal humans can produce a child who gains a quirk later on in life
2) That a child who seemingly has no quirk despite being having quirk parents can gain their own quirk at some point
3) AFO knew about Nana Shimura's linage for years (esp. how she had her own quirk before becoming the 7th OFA wielder) which was stated when he fought All Might (the 8th OFA wielder) for the final time
4) AFO took quirks he found useful throughout his life, he wouldn't give away his quirks to some kid (all the Nomu had select copies of his abilities due to the Doctor)
4) AFO isn't pulling a X-Men Apocalypse given the current manga chapters

I’ve realised that society in my hero Academia is the reason why villains became the way they are. They all had dreams that were crushed so they took the path of a villain so they could get revenge. But not gonna lie some people could argue with the fact that Evendour (I cant spell his name sorry) could be seen as a villain or maybe worse than them due to him simply obsessing over fame and status therefore leads to corruption. Omg why did I ramble 😂
That's why I Horikoshi would create a villain that's supposed to be some sort of anarchist fighting for what they believe is true justice. He would create an amazing arc with that, because he would make the character feel relatable, and likeable. He'll maid the viewers root for the villain.

so Tomura’s quirk was said to be a “mutation type” quirk by the doctor or afo I forgot which..Im starting to think afo gave this quirk to him. Tomura was thought to be quirkless by his father. Afo just miraculously showed up after Tomura accidentally killed his entire family...as if he was waiting for him to do it. From what we know so far afo seems to know what’s going on without physically being present and this could be a quirk he has or maybe it’s someone else that’s working for him. This makes me think Afo located Nana’s son and waited for the perfect time to set out his plan by ultimately targeting Tomura, letting him kill his family, becoming the only person Tomura has, messing this boys life, and making him hate heroes especially All Might...this would be on another level of evil if this turns out to be the case

After knowing this and then watching the anime. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
the more i read and watch this show the more i cheer for the league of villains as fucked up as it is. it's probably because the majority of my friends growing up were outcasts and misfits to an extent (i was one too, i take the word weird with pride)
I know this is all sad but.... TENKO HAD A CORGI AWW! Also how he hugged it made me sad
God imagine when this part of this story being animated for s5. Not only that but new music (Maybe like "might+U but darker version")for that perfect scene where he just killed his family. It's gonna be heart wrenching to think about it...

I loved the design since the day I first seen him on the show covered with hands. His story wasn’t really touched on too much in the show. Great to fully understand his story!
From the same start, I knew something was off with him. I mean that he wasn't acting like that for nothing, he just looked different to me and that's why he became one of my favourites in My Hero Academia. I just don't know why, but started liking him even in the first season, guess that's why. He has so sad and touching backstory, and I personally think he's one of the best characters and they did him great. Thank you for this backstory, the part where he killed his dog accidentally was too sad... Great job on the video, this cleared things up for me! + sub

Well maybe he was quirk less, and all for one used this to his advantage by giving him the quirk, so that he could use his hate towards hi dad andake him join the villans? Who knows just a theory

I feel bad for the Shimura family, including Kotaro Shimura/the father. He suffered just as much as Tenko/Tomura did. As a matter of fact, I believe the way he actions towards Tenko and Hana, because of his mother Nana and all the other heroes is one of the main reasons why Tenko/Tomura hates All Might due to Kotaro’s abandonment as a child without any parents to properly raise him and that he truly loved them by not wanting them to follow in their Grandmother’s footsteps. The reason his mother left him in foster care was because Kotaro’s father (Nana’s husband) was killed by an unknown villain (presumably All for One). In my personal opinion, there are other ways that Tenko’s transformation into Tomura could’ve been avoided. Some people may blame the father, because of being abusive, but I believe part of that blame goes to Nana for not taking care of him and quitting the hero life or telling Gran Torino about Kotaro. If she told him, then maybe Kotaro and Toshinori would be like brothers. Kotaro being the younger brother, Toshinori being the older brother, and Gran Torino being the father figure they would look up too. If that happened, then Kotaro wouldn’t be resenting heroes. Kotaro would later meet Nao (Tenko’s mother) and Hana and Tenko would be born and they would grow up to be a hero family duo of siblings like they wanted.
Shouldn't Kotaro also check his attitude? Inflicting his pain and anger to his kid should never be justified

The only time we see Kotaro physically abuse Tenko was when he and Hana went into his study and saw a picture of Kotaro as a child and his mother Nana. However, whenever he or Hana would mention anything about heroes or hero-related would he would send them outside until they apologized. Those are two different things.
@@amangirma2001 and it's already unreasonable. Wanna try implementing the same treatment to your child? Sending him to the doghouse not letting him to eat dinner? Forcing your values despite how ill-earted and malicious it is?

Poor Shigaraki. This is why All for One isn’t that heartless, I mean he would have taken over the boy’s quirk but he didn’t, instead he changed his name and adopted him as his own.

So how strong is his quirk? Cause from what you showed from the manga. His family was killed instantly but when he touch Aizawa elbow. It started to decay slowly. It didn't instantly kill him. So I'm kind of confused.
Edit: I have been thinking about it more and maybe he can control the level of how much he decays something. Since his body is used to it now.
So his quirk is as strong as you saw in this video, but over the years he’s (unintentionally) suppressed how strong it truly is!

I actually read the manga and Im up to date with everything but not only did I have to keep switching apps since alot of them were being taken down, I had slipped some chapters by accident and some apps were confusing to use and I kinda skipped alot of dialogue too so thanks a bunch! I finally understand what really happened cause all I read was from when Tenko killed his dog and then his fam and I knew nothing of what was going on🤣
Also I love the fact that Kohei makes a reference to DC's Joker with the caption "All it takes is one bad day" that's a really awesome reference.
