the guy who said "wizards is doing nothing wrong, there's a lot but it isn't a problem" is also the guy who said "i sell magic cards, i don't know what they do." really activates those almonds
There is a case to be made for Improvised Club as the first pick. But that pack was, stacked. It is hard not to pick a good start from it. I would have to say Rosie > Old man Willow > Improvised Club > Merry. Just because Rosie gets out of hand in a way Willow doesn't, even if all of them are great.
Deathrite Shaman was once called the Swiss Army knife of magic, and that it is, hence my pick for the best one drop. And my favorite card is ALSO the almighty Siege Rhino. Also unrelated but I opened a surge foil The One Ring on my first collectors LOTR booster pack, super cool card… I sold it to my friend cause I’m not the biggest fan of the card.
I've opened a bit of this format and played Limited with it just a few times so I am basing this on medium-low insight. Merry is hard to set up the equip clause but the card draw is PRETTY easy, almost every single rare *and* uncommon creature in this set is a Legend. On that note I think Rosie is crazy reliably and only puts you into one color, and cuts most of the white out of this pack apart from the aforementioned Merry and the pricey combat-trick-body of Soldier of the Grey Host. So yeah TL;DR Rosie Cotton of South Lane P1P1
I love all the honest and generous answers for the "if you pulled the one ring" question. We truely have one of the greatest community of people. Right next to EDM.
Generous Ent is my pick because it lets you stay open in colors while also being a presentable body. Nothing else in the pack is particularly good except like old man willow but that's BG
"wotc is doing nothing wrong they're not printing too much product" "I don't play magic, I just sell it for a living. I don't know what these cards do" my guy. please stop. get some help.
2:16 that guy is either far to rich to have to ever look at his bank account again, or he’s been sniffing WOTC farts directly from the hot brown source
It is dumb that a dude who says he sells magic cards for a living but dosent think wizards is putting out to much product. Wouldnt go into buisness with that dude.
My first pick would probably Lembas Bread because I have a really bad habit of just going 'oh this is good no matter what I'm up to' that's why I ended up with 3 in my draft. Though they ended up destroying in my UG scrying elves so I shouldn't complain. Also Fish that shirt fucks verily.
My hot take: unban ponder brainstorm and preordain in modern. The fact that card selection = bad for the game mindset is absolute lunacy. And cannot be logically backed up reasonably.
@@FishMTG ponder and uro. Like I said in my comment above the fact that card selection=bad is completely flawed thinking. And if it’s ok to scam 2 cards on turn 1 for one mana than something like uro should be allowed to be around. But let’s be honest half the banking is horseshit because of the power creep that’s been introduced
Hot take: Commanders shouldn't count as dying if you send them to the commandzone, makes death trigger decks boring. Pet card: FLICKERWISP 1st pack draft pick: Old man Willow. It's minimum on curve, and a Sac outlet for removal? I love this card.
@@littlemisspipebomb4723 disagree, it was much more fun when it was a decision of whether I had the reanimation or I had to send it back to command zone. Child of Alara was perfect and I hate it now that it procs every time.
@@joelyfish4216 as an aristocrats player I disagree, also the old rules were just unintuitive for new players. I watched people mess up long turns just to find out they misplayed at the end, it's brutal as hell.
@@littlemisspipebomb4723 If the description of dying is "to travel from the battlefield to the graveyard" and going to the Command Zone is a *replacement effect* where "When it would leave the battlefield you may send it to the command zone instead of any other zone" then by my reading it should never hit the graveyard, as was the original ruling. I think it's less intuitive to say it goes to the graveyard for just a second and then moves again. It may be more intuitive for a new player who doesn't know what "dying" means in this game's context, but it's inconsistent with the rest of the game. For example all the things that say "if this creature would die this turn exile it instead" such as Pillar of Flame are replacement effects, and those all explicitly do not have the creature touch the graveyard for a second. The inconsistency is really what bothers me.
Respectfully wanting more women in magic isn't a hot take. Women just need to want to play magic and play in tournaments. I still remember my local store only had 1 girl in it and she was one of the better players. Where where friends but she did have to put up with a kinda toxic environment. There really wasnt a way to force other girls to come in the store to fix that tho.
so like. you can fix that yknow? my lgs has a like 60-30 split of men to women now, it's just a positive environment to play in! if i had to put up with a "kinda toxic environment" i wouldnt show up lol be the change you wish to see!!!!!!
It doesn't have the attributes that women want in a game. Women in general don't like TCG as much as men that's just how brains and interests between the sexes work. What's odd was a boy was the one stating it.

Love that everyone is saying they'd sell the one ring to Post Malone and that's exactly what the person who found it did
I mean that's pretty much the best Case Scenario, going to someone who cares about MTG, and LOTR, and a normal person getting like 2 mill
The person who sells cards, and doesn't play them, thinks Magic releases are in a good place. Shocker.
I was about to say that lol
the dude who said ragavan for the first question was so suprised you can tell he is the only one of them that plays actually competative.
This video was awesome documentary style MTG content. Didn't even know I was missing it. Fantastic editing and interviewing.
Hot Take: Bans and Unbans across all formats need to happen more frequently
Pet Card: Storm Herd
Lol....the Guy who thinks WOTC are doing nothing wrong only sells cards and "doesn't know what they do."

Fabulous video ❤ I love you Canada!
the lady who said that more women should be in magic is so cool!!! not that all these people arent- seems like theres an awesome scene in edmonton! :)
There was so much love and care in the editing!!!

More mono black artifact tribal support for modern.
great video!!! I hope to see more mtg videos like this

Rosie is definitely my first pick, I wanna play that combo with the treefolk

They want Urza's saga banned but right now it's the only thing keeping ring decks away from being tier zero
If I wasn’t a child I’d love to go to events like these
There are many many children at events like these but I understand what you mean
I dont know if itd be too much effort to put the cards up when they say it, i keep having to open up google to look up cards lmao
that's a nice hat
Isamaru FTW
Old Man Willow.
I love this kind of content and wish someone did this kind of thing in the states.

Love hearing Magic players opinions! Also love hearing card ideas!!
I love this
sad that no one said throw one ring in volcano. very happy we got one guy that said rip it.
My pet card changes on the format but anyone on the server knows I go crazy about Niko Aris.

Unban Oko. Enough time has passed.
I would pick Rosie, and if she wasn't in the pack I would take Stew the Coneys!
Chevy in the thumbnail! They're a fantastic judge
Is it possible to get decklists of the eight involved?
It's Old Man Willow. It's too hard to keep Rosie alive, and OMW is good in any deck.
Best one cost is permeating mass
If you like playing a combo deck you should just play Yu-Gi-Oh.
My hot take is:
bring back banding.
If it could be explained in a clear way, I am all for it returning😅
LOOK MA IM ON TV! MTG FISH CALLED ME A STUPID IDIOT! NO I DON'T WANT ANY MORE PIZZA ROLLS! MA SHADDUP!
this video has it all. also the forestcycler is my pick but idk
i wanna meet the girl who said trans rights :)
My boy knows about the yoked ox power
Squirrel dealer is my fav one drop. Hexdrinker and Pheonix Chick are great
