This video is a wonderful example of a boat's restoration where the owner isn't begging for money or free of charge parts. I remember one video where they actually posted a list of things that would 'make life better'. Well done. I cant wait to see the next video.
Thanks, Paul. I am doing my best. The videos are, as you surely can se, very amateurish. But I enjoy making them and do hope they also serve as entertainment and maybe a degree of educational. (do not buy old project boats based purely on dreams :-). Being an middle-aged man it is also educational for me as well, making videos. I hope to improve as time goes. :-)
With that Butyl sealed hatch.....mask up leaving about 1" around the the perimeter un taped.....scuff with fine grit....then paint that 1" and that will hide the Butyl under neath.....goodonya 4 using Butyl, better than silicone ,never goes hard, best sealant ever......Gavin
Thanks for your advice, Gavin. Like you, I also find Butyl to be great to seal windows, hatches etc. It is a bit hard taping the round portholes, but I will consider your advice in the future. :-)
Very inspirational! I have only started watching your series recently, and it is very engaging and well done. You must be extremely confident by nature to take on such a large project that seemed to expand in scope with each video. You have done a beautiful job and I look forward to watching the rest of the series.
Thanks for your feedback. It is an "old" video from when the channel was new and I had no clue of what a video should be. It improved later, when my daughter Sara took over the editing. :-)
Lookin good Blimp. I brought home my Tresfjord 28 earlier this week for winter project time. I am fortunate to have a trailer it can sit on during the winter. On my list is new prop and shaft, empty and clean the fuel tank and reseal some windows. I love your videos. Gives me encouragement! Your boat is looking very nice indeed!
Thanks Bradley. Hope your winter-work on the Tresfjord works out ok. Great to have space on dry-land for the boat during winter. Remember to protect your motor and freshwater-system for frost damage (if you have freezing conditions that is). :-)
I really like what you've accomplished with the exterior of your boat including color. Visually I like the longer windows there now, trying to visualize how it will look with round port-holes. Best wishes for a continued wonderful restoration.
Hi Robert! Yes, the present windows are great, but not watertight. These need special rubber-sealings, which might be hard to get. The circular portholes are easy to get, and easy to seal and reseal with spare parts. I sure hope they suite the boat, but only time will tell. I will keep the old windows, just in case. Thanks for your input :-)
Educational , Interesting and inspiring. What a journey - great work - well done and thanks. My little day sailer will be better for your guidance and advice.
Shes starting to look pretty fine Blimp ..thats a lot of work done..against the Northern summer clock. 👍🏼⛵ Well done but i bet you were gutted when that first paint coat reacted.
Thank you, Clive! I was indeed fighting against the clock, both for the weather and the yards kind slot-time. Yes I was VERY unhappy and first decided to fix it next summer. But then there opened up a weather-window with still quite mild temperatures, and the yard agreed to let me stay for that extended period (the yard was actually VERY flexible and friendly all the way). So then I figured I would be MUCH more happy if I could get a new coat before winter, rather then wait till late spring. That weather window was really the last possibility this year, so a bit of fortune too...! :-)
Thanks! One week ago the boat was actually frozen in and covered with snow. Are starting to wake up for the spring and further work on the boat. I have bought a lot of equipment and are planning the next video. Might still take some time I am afraid. But those who wait.... ;-)
Congratulations - you achieved an amazing amount in 89 days and to such a high standard, particularly as the conditions turned against you with the usual excellent timing. What was the story with the yard in terms of pressuring you to get out of the space - had they contracted with someone else for the space? Oh well, I have caught up already - so what’s next? Continuing in the weatherproofness goal (windows and the like)?
Thanks, Norman. The yard needed the space for winter-storage of boats. Next is rebuilding the engine foundation (is this the correct term?), as it is now just a few 2by4 pieces of wood, not able to withstand the engine vibrations. And yes, the windows will need re-sealing and partly changing. The boat needs to be dry on the inside. Then there is the teak-railing.... ;-)
Thanks for your feedback. I know about the text and we have improved in the later videos. Unfortunately in the last video a couple sneaked in, for which I am sorry. :-)
Hei, flott prosjekt, god jobb.
Hei Arne.
Hi Jim. The interior is gone due to rot. I will make a new interior. On one side bad as it was the original interior made for berthing 6 people, but also good as I can custom make the new interior to mainly me, myself and I. But my first video (very amateurish) have a tour of the boat, giving an impression of the old interior. Hope that helps. The video: ruclips.net/video/4sqicce51uY/видео.html
Hi Robert! Most of the windows are yet to be removed, which they will. They are all leaking. I have drilled out one of the portlights from the aft-cabin. Cant remember the size of the drill bit, but I did start small and increased until i reached the inner-diameter of the rivets. Maybe 2,5mm. I will probably replace all cabin-portlights with new. The wheelhouse windows I will keep (for now), but consider using bolts instead of rivets when reattaching them. Not as pretty, but easier to tighten up to get them waterproof. For the resealing the 4 portlights in the bow i used butyl tape. Will use that on the rest of the windows as well, when I get there...
@@hsobstad Thanks for the speedy reply. The portlights I was viewing (wheelhouse) had 2 rivets where the aluminum frame joined. Are those the rivets you would drill out? Many thanks, Rob
@@RobertBrynjolfson Robert. It seems to me we have about the same progress. I have seen the rivets to split the frame, but has not yet done that. So I have no experience to share yet. I will do the split, I guess, to be able to re-seal the window. So I cant se any other way than to drill out the rivets.
Thanks for your comment and input. Yes, I will learn how use non-gimmic tekst. I did not find the plane tekst, with satisfactory size and font first, and just continued to use the "gimmic-text". Sorry for that. You are not the first to tell me :-)
I like your project. A bit annoyed with the editing (if not necessary, than cut or shorten) and "tricky" text which makes you wait before you can read sentence.
Thank you for telling me. I´ve got lots of feedback on that, and have been asked to comment orally instead, which I have done in the two latest videos. I hope that is better. In the latest video the "tricky" text has sneaked in a few places (forgot to focus on that), for which I am sorry. :-)
Oh, the resanding and repainting...I felt your anguish.
Yes, I had to count to ten, more than once, and just focus on getting the job done. I work quite well under pressure and deadlines. :-)

You can be very proud of the fantastic job you've done. She looks amazing 😍 and I can't wait to see the teak back on her. Well done Blimp !
