    This is an excellent idea. The other thing it creates is job opportunities over a larger area of a given country. And for smaller cities, not just one big plant in one city. And less delivery costs for the manufacture.

      Plus, each microfactory might be able to produce spare parts for local repair shops or even serve as their own regional service center! Could be amazing :)

    I look forward to seeing where Arrival goes in the years ahead with an eye towards possible future investment. I want to see their trucks on the road first!

    The future looks more exciting each year. There's never been a time like this when technology is advancing at such a rate. Feeling very fortunate to be alive to witness everything in real-time. How do you feel about the future? Are you excited yet?

    Is the Capex competitive with those large scale consumer factories? Very smart eliminating the paint shop as that can exceed 1/3 of the Capex of a vehicle manufacturing facility. I can definitely see this disruption in comercial products.

    Roanoke,VA was once a rail car production and maintenance city. Arrival would be a perfect opportunity to use the skills, infrastructure and “open-arm” policy of Roanoke’s local government and residents.

    No Harry, the phrase that ticked me off was: "Microfactories could be the next disturbing force in the transition to electric vehicle" . My point was: this is not only about technology. Arrival has obviously an interesting take on things, and that`s great for alternative energy in transport and reduction of green gas emission. What I meant was, for example, Musk decided to get into the car industry to find meaning in his life, to try to make a difference in the world. He is using technology as a mean to an end. It`s usually the other way around. It is used to produce more stuff, make more money and the hell with consequences.

    • @WattsTheFuture
      @WattsTheFuture  3 года назад +3

      There aren't many people like Musk, and history would show this has always been the case in the world. At any given time, there are many great minds living amongst us, and sometimes only a handful of them get recognized on the world stage. I believe what Musk has done with Tesla is a huge disruptive force on the automotive and energy industry. Many others are tapping into the disruption for new business opportunities, but not all will succeed. While Arrival is still fairly new to the industry, it could prove to be a working concept that could one day start boosting the disruption that Tesla started. If all goes well for Arrival (and I do wish them all the best on their journey), there are big opportunities that I see lying ahead.
      In the end, what we are witnessing happening today is just a drop in the ocean of what is really possible in the years ahead. We can only imagine what the world will look like after the disruption starts to fade out and normalize the markets to the new norms in terms of technology, transportation, and energy.

    Harry, you do really good stuff, but this video is spectacular. This is such an exciting prospect, yet another thing that I thought would emerge in a more distant future. I consider myself on the more Kurzweil side of tech optimism, but I'm still blown away by how fast all of this is coming. Trying to imagine the world even 5 years from now feels harder and harder.
    Keep up the great work, I can really see this channel blowing up

  • @markchickenbutt8740

    Definitely an interesting concept. Problems could arise in different build qualities at different plants. But one big advantage I’m not seeing anyone talk about is customer being familiar with the product. In my area we have a Subaru plant so percentage wise we have a high volume of Subarus. People are familiar with the product and may know or know of someone working there. This would be a huge help to a new company. Just image if the made repair parts on site as well, then mechanics and body repairmen wouldn’t be as dismissive to potential customers because they would be confident enough to say well yeah we can fix that easily and with factory original possibly even next day.
    Because right now mechanics won’t recommend if they can’t get parts or have 1st hand knowledge of the product.
    So if they pair this with aftermarket compatibility, I bet they could really launch the company.

    Ability to scale is a key for 100x return. How Arrival will solve this problem?

    • @Lord_Falcon
      @Lord_Falcon 3 года назад +7

      Arrival can scale much faster than other car manufacturers because they can respond to regional demand quickly. Most car manufacturers take years to build large factories that serve entire continents but Arrival can buy any warehouse and convert it in less than 6 months. If demand for vans skyrockets in an emerging country for example other manufacturers have to ship vehicles in to sell which is costly and the end price is impacted by tariffs whereas Arrival will build a factory quickly in the area, bringing local jobs and the ability to customize for that market. It makes them perfect for government contracts because politicians love companies that create local jobs.

    What makes this vehicle/factory any more "sustainable" than other EVs/factories? Or are you just reading a press reliease?

  • @michelheinman2756
    @michelheinman2756 3 года назад

    It is really amazing think about it. In the Tech-Industry you always think smaller is better and more sufficient. But when it comes to future factory i always thought they are gonna be bigger and bigger. If you watch sci-fi movies its often the same, more imposing large scale Factories . Going smaller really might come with a large set of Benefits.

  • @AnthonyGriz

    MicroFactories will certainly form a large part of the global production future. The ability to remove the excessive transport costs can only help businesses to remain viable, and less transport of goods to their final destination, can only be a good thing!
