I married my High School Sweetheart and this was our song for our entire 53 years together. I lost her to Cancer a year and a half ago. I don't think I'll ever be able to hear this without breaking down. It was a hell of a ride, through thick and thin we always had each other.
So sorry about about your loss...you were blessed to be together for 53 years.Never married my high school sweetheart....however 50 years later still think of him and always close to my ❤️heart ....LS
@@alvirakriel1171 Thank you. When you marry your High School sweetheart you grow up together. We were 21 and didn't know much. I was stationed in England at the time, I brought her there with me and we had to make it on our own with no family or friends around. That was guaranteed to either make the marriage fail or be incredibility successful. It wasn't all smooth sailing but it was incredible.
Your story resonated a lot with me. I'm sorry for your loss, truly, but I am glad that you and your sweetheart both enjoyed the Beach Boys in their prime. You both had something people my age never had, and it was a very special thing - that cultural zeitgeist. My most sincere condolences, and I wish you all the best.
Paul, my wife and I loved this tune too; she died Wednesday morning, 3 days after our 55th wedding anniversary, from leukaemia. I too am in tears when I listen to it, but my god, what an amazing life we shared. I’m 80 years old, and I can’t ever see forgetting her either…
I was born the year this song came out 1966. When I heard it for the 1st time, even at an early early age it gave me chills. One of the prettiest songs I’ve ever heard. Needless to say I have loved The Beach Boys since. Just great feel good music.
that's the thing about the time's, is that they change. the environment was right then for this at the time. that being said, there's great music being produced all the time, all over the world, expressing exactly what need's to be said. the big trouble nowadays though, is that this music is either never heard by the "big dog's" or is intentionally ignored by them. it's not that current music is bad, it's that current "popular" music is bad, and it is made so intentionally. "Therefore it has been said: “Who could make scepters without spoiling the unblemished jade? And how could altruism and righteousness be extolled unless the Way and its Virtue had perished?”"
It doesn't get any better than this. I actually recorded a tape of Beach Boy songs as a teenager in the 1970s so that I wouldn't have to wait to hear them on the radio. Miss those days.
It really was a turning point because it was the first time they didn't wear their striped shirts. Pet Sounds was inspired by Rubber Soul by The Beatles and then Pet Sounds would inspire Sargent Pepper.
It just makes me want to be mooshy but aggravating at the same time. It has strong carousel made u look stole your snack vibes 🤗. Or it just makes me want to bug a boo bc he hates rides 😍🤭
your never too late for good music, that's part of the beauty of it. further, i really distaste the notion for being born at the "wrong" time. there never is a "wrong" time to make a better world. there are easy time's and hard time's sure, but to say that it's the "wrong time", misses out on so much of ourselves, and our capacity for self love and understanding.
Dont feel bad. I've always knew of "The Beach Boys" and came across some of their songs back in the late 2000's. It never stuck with me until I heard this song from the game "Mafia 3" thats based in the 60's I was like I kinda remember this song but immediately recognized the style of singing & knew it was this group. It's one of my favorite songs now
The Beach Boys had an unmistakably unique sound!! The studio version of this song is incredible. They were never able to sound like this again. They always still sounded good but different. It’s like they lost the ability to create that same sound as the original studio version. That’s okay. They have come close many times. It’s just that original studio version was absolutely perfect and impossible to ever match again!
I saw the Beach Boys live several years ago and realized that age has taken its toll on their voice but it didn't matter. The moment they started singing, beach balls appeared from everywhere and we all stood on our seats and sang every song with them. We all knew the words.. A Beach Boys concert isn't about what IS, it is a celebration of what WAS, even if it never was exactly like we remember it.
Watch "The Wrecking Crew", documentary made in 2014, to see Brian WIlson at work in the studio with the musicians who actually played this music so perfectly. That's why the Beach Boys didn't sound the same live. LoL
My guess is that they personally maybe didn’t like that sound, the Zombies have a similar story with their most loved album, which also has such a unique, trashy but in a good way sound, but from an interview I Heard- that they hated how it turned out and their later stuff sounded different as well. So maybe it’s the same situation (?)
This was the sexiest song as an innocent teenage girl growing up in the late 60s. You only thought about sex in a vague way but you knew enough to know that married sex could be fun, especially since The Beach Boys said it could be nice. And the best part is-they were right!
Their harmony was awesome! Actually, bring tears! It's one of my favorite groups!❤❤❤ it's funny, Brain didn't care to do concerts, but did a great job singing and writing in the background
this reminds me of the movie its complicated. when alec baldwin and glen close dance good movie. beach boys were the best where their unique voices so in harmony brings back alot of memories of my older sisters and brother johnny he love the group.
0:07 Wouldn't it be nice if we were older Then we wouldn't have to wait so long And wouldn't it be nice to live together In the kind of world where we belong You know it's gonna make it that much better When we can say goodnight and stay together Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up In the morning when the day is new And after having spent the day together Hold each other close the whole night through Happy times together we've been spending I wish that every kiss was never ending Oh, wouldn't it be nice Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray It might come true Baby, then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do Oh, we could be married oh, we could be married And then we'd be happy and then we'd be happy Oh, wouldn't it be nice You know it seems the more we talk about it It only makes it worse to live without it But let's talk about it Oh, wouldn't it be nice Goodnight, my baby Sleep tight, my baby Goodnight, my baby Sleep tight, my baby🎤🎶

To be honest there wasn't much music being made in the 1960s that sounded like this either. The Beach Boys sound is pretty unique.
One of the best albums ever made, if not the best.
