The pop corn does not need to be soaked like rye grain, the kernels are boiled until they are soft and can be bitten into, then it is strained and layed out to air dry for 30 minutes. The popcorn is then loaded into prepared jars or filter patch bags and sterilized at 15 psi for 2-2.5 hours.
2-4 ml of liquid culture is sufficient to establish an initiative phase of mycelium that can be shaken to speed up colonization.
The fully colonized spawn is then mixed with pasteurized straw or other substrate in buckets or other fruiting container.
After full colonization of the fruiting container, humidity and fresh air is introduced.

Honestly, I love that you're using very common subs, grains, and containers. Shows you don't need a fancy tent, just have to be clean and grow with care
I didn’t know how easy this would be! Thank you for sharing, how cool!
Thanks for watching ! 🙏
The time laps shots on the go pro are awesome
Thank you! 🙏
i like this one here !! great job , Thanks ! , simple , concise and to the point , no wasted words here ...''''
I really appreciate you 🙏
Very good video I learned a lot from it many thanks
Thanks for watching!
Those clusters are beautiful asf dawg💯🌎🌎
Thanks for watching!
using sorghoum seeds, how long should i pressure cook them? i am always having problems with the drying method also because i am struggling with the time that i should pull them out. Love your vids bro it helps us alot. simple yet quick no bs
Thank You

This is awesome, thanks for sharing! A few newbie's questions, does the colonized straw produce more fruits or do you throw it away? What other substrate can you use besides straw that's cheap and easy to get? Those chestnut mushrooms in your store look great, can I grow them using the 2 methods you describe in this video?
Yea they will continue to grow from the straw multiple times. May need to rehydrate it. You can use sawdust, chestnuts prefer sawdust as a substrate.
Do you have a tutorial on how to make the lids on the mason jars?

This is amazing. I was wondering what cheap alternatives I could use to propagate mushrooms.
Thanks for watching!
@@SporenSprout Does it affect the taste at all?
Do the grow chambers stay open or do you close them?
Thanks
Are mushrooms substrate dependent? ie, is one substrate better than others or are they mushroom specific?
@SporenSprout While the popcorn is in the strainer is that where the endospores are coming to life so they can get killed in the PC?
Yo you dont hide anything.. You keep it a buck.. Big up yourself fam.. Real talk 👊🏾.. Your blessings will come
Good ass video thanks bro 🎉🎉
Thanks for watching! 🍄
Thanks for the info. Re: removing the bag covering the popcorn jar every few hours - how long do we do this? And do you really mean every few hours, or is it more like every few hours during the day but fine to leave it on through the night while sleeping?
During the night you can leave it on until morning. The bigger the mushrooms get the more fresh air they need. So once you start to see pins you should increase the amount of fresh air.
Grain to grain transfer how long does it take for Mycelium to grow in popcorn grain? Great vids thanks 🙏
Should start growing after 1 week.
will they grow again out of the same holes? and if so how many times can they keep fruiting until it stops?
Yes it will fruit more than once per hole. Just harvest and mist the hole with water and wait. You can also soak it in water to rehydrate it after the second harvest to try for a 3rd flush
Thanks dude
It's very nice video
I have some questions
Is that magic mushroom ?
If yes do you have a nice trip ?
What the name of this one ?
This is pink oyster gourmet mushroom but the same process works for magic.
Is that about 3cc (ish) per quart jar for inoculation?
@@HarmonyHollowApiary Yes
So with the plastic container/bucket, do you tape the holes with micropore tape? Do the mushroom just push the tape out of the way when they grow?
Yes, micro pore tape will help prevent the holes from drying out and help retain humidity. You can also cover with a trash bag. After about 1 week you take the tape/bag off.
@@SporenSprout Great thanks. I just did a grey oyster bag, I want to try my mycelium this time in a small bucket with straw.
So after the mycelium growth nothing Hass to be sterilized to grow?reason I ask is the dirt
It’s not necessary
Great video! How's pink oysters taste?
Fried up nice and crispy, taste like bacon.
What is that you keep spraying from the small bottle?
Just tap water
I don’t have a pressure cooker. Is there an alternative method to sterilizing the popcorn
You could try steaming them in a canner pot of water with lid for 2 hours.
There is a very nice low-tech method that involves soaking substrate in Hydrated lime for a while, perhaps it could be applied to your situation. With that being said, I dont know how it would work when you want to inoculate a substrate with a spore syringe or liquid culture. I have only transferred grain spawn to a substrate that has been sterilized with the hydrated lime method.
Best of luck to you sir!
Want all that light kill it or is it specifically designed for checking on your patch?
No light isn’t a problem.
Is there another option other than using a pressure cooker?
You can steam sterilize for around 4 hours
Can I sterelize the corn for 1h with a normal pot and cover?
You can try for 2.5 hours but there may be contamination later down the road.
Can you add more straw and or corn to keep producing mushrooms or do you have to start all over at some point?
The same bucket will keep producing after the first harvest as long as it has water.
thanks for the reply. When would I have to add any nutrients, I assume that eventually the mycelium will run out of food?@@SporenSprout
@@jasonmiller8993 Yeah after about 3 harvests you should compost the straw and start over.
Can I use this method for any mushroom?
It is mainly for oyster mushrooms, other species may need more nutrients. Sawdust pellets supplemented with bran is very good for oysters, reishi, shiitake, and most others. But button mushrooms need compost substrate mixed with poo
Hello! Where did you get this short cutted straw you used in the video? How is it being sold?
I got it from tractor supply
What's the name and type of straw!?
In Australia we can get sugar can straw. It is already chopped in small bails from Bunnings stores. It is the tops from the sugar cane, it is full of sugars the mycelium loves the stuff. People use it for garden mulch. So try your garden Centre. I used to buy regular straw taken from large bails for my sons rabbit and guinea pigs from a produce place for horses etc. It is pretty cheap to buy.
Are you spraying isopropyl?
Yeah
Hello, is it the magic shrooms or different species?
The mushrooms in this video are gourmet oyster mushrooms not magic. The same process can be used for magic species though
after ill pressuredcook it theres moist inside is it ok?
It should not be squishy
thanks a lot
What's the little red bit on the jars plz ?

@SporenSprout ❤️👊🏻legend thank you kind sir
So what’s the tinfoil over the lids for?
@@l3r0wn to protect the air filter from getting wet
What was the wet weight yield of the growth you took from the eclair container and put on the plate in the video?
It was a while ago so I don’t remember but I would say a couple ounces fresh. You can get a lot more in a bigger bucket.
Too bad they don't taste like movie theater popcorn. I've lived or hung out in a basement most of my life and that's what the smell of shrooms reminds me of. But I have nerve damage that is getting worse and I'll try anything that is natural to help.
Woah, those look awesome! - never knew growing mushrooms could be so simple! What are the benefits of using corn compared to rice or any another substrate?
Corn is very clean and does not need to be soaked overnight like rye does, therefore it is faster. It also comes down to availability, you should use whatever is readily available at the lowest cost to you. Thanks for watching !
😮❤
Is that a tattoo of psilocybin? Looks a bit wrong for psilocin, the nh3 should be another carbon and two methyl groups, or smth like that(I'm actually bad at chemistry)
I think I've never bothered to understand the psilocybin molecule.
Anyways, I'm confused
It’s serotonin
is there another way that doesn't need a pressure cooker
You can make brown rice flour cakes and use a steam canner for 2 hours.
Can you eat pink Mushrooms
Pink oysters, yes.
A pressure cooker seems overkill and expensive.
Not really
With popcorn like this you could double boil it in a pot with water for around 3 hours and it does the job, popcorn like this sold at stores usually is already pretty clean and any contaminates will go away with the heat from the water
pressure cookers and instant pots are amazing and makes life better... yous is tripping.
How often will you do it. Once a year? I think doing it in the oven for a few hrs is just fine. I've done like 18 jars so far and 100% success rate.
If you're doing it daily or multiple times a year then sure, I would consider a used one. But it's a waste if money for just onece a year or every few months.
@@OutOfNameIdeas2 Oven is terrible.
Magic mushrooms????
It will work, yes.
