Thanks for leading me down the right path. Mine is a 2007 Pilot: The problem I was chasing when I found this video is that the parking lights wouldn't flash and the horn wouldn't sound when locking the vehicle using the key fob; no doors indicated open and the hood and tailgate were latched. We had just had the remains of a Tropical storm dump on us here in NJ. After removing the inside trim panel, I found that spraying the latch sensor mechanism with electronics cleaner spray apparently cleaned 14 years of debris buildup that was keeping the tailgate latch sensor switch from opening (telling the system the tailgate is closed). The debris was probably retaining some moisture creating a "switch closed" short circuit which looked to the system as if the tailgate was open. The alarm system would read this "short circuit" as if the door was opened while the alarm was set. Some times the solution is simpler than it seems. Total cost: 1 Hr, no parts, $0.00 (I already had the CRC electronic spray)
@@brianaustin1328 Looks like old grease buildup intermittently keeping the switch immobilized. Works right now because I opened then closed it again; will actually disassemble and clean it this weekend like I did with the tailgate switch.
I came across this video because I had a loose tail gate door connection. It turned out the upper bracket on the door itself was loose. I just needed to get access to the three screws that were holding the bracket in place to tighten them. It took me all of 10 minutes based on the video so that I knew how to access the area. I did not have to remove the entire door panel since I could simply pull down the panel to get access to the screws.
Might as well be 10 feet away from the work and the video was at night. Thanks for the attempt though. Good explanation. This must be my problem but i will have to look elsewhere for a video.
I have a similar problem, my wife's 2005 pilot won't latch when trying to close. Checked the latch itself and moves freely, nothing in the way from it not latching. So weird. I tried holding the door handle in the rear while closing and still won't grab. Might have to take it apart.
@@brianaustin1328 yeah thanks might give that a shot. I'm also going to check if the latch itself isn't loose and that's why it's not grabbing. Great video, got my head going and got some ideas now.
@@acepv68 I don’t remember off hand. Try this: with the hatch open unplug on of the connectors, then click the unlock button on your key fob. If you hear the back hatch try to unlock, you got the right one. If you don’t hear a sound, you got the wrong one. With the alarm unplugged, you still can lock and unlock the tailgate lock from the key fob.
Mine is a 2006 first wouldn't let me in the door I bought a wedge in a pump got in and now the alarm won't shut off..... Turning out to be the worst car ever lol
Thanks for leading me down the right path.

Awesome, thanks for sharing!
@@brianaustin1328 Now I have the same problem again and must do the same thing for the hood latch switch...no good deed goes unpunished!
@@brettmccloskey6792 I’ve heard the hood latch switch is a weak point. My 2004 doesn’t have one.

Thanks for the tip. I will go pick up some of the CRC electronic spray right now! Hopefully I experience the same success as you.

Thank you! I've been looking for a video about this. Seems like a lot of people believe there isn't a transmission dip stick.
This video is awesome 💯💯
I have a 03 pilot...you think I could take it to a lock & key guy for vehicles?
It’s not really a lock or key issue, it’s an electrical servo issue. These are just a weak point in this vehicle.
Is that a sweat on your hat? Lol
I have a 04 honda pilot white like yours but my remote locks the doors but doesn't beep anymore
That’s an odd one!

The striker plate is adjustable, try that.

@@c-los918 Also check the black plate on the hatch side. those large Phillips get loose over time.
Can I just remove the alarm sensor in the meantime?
You can just unplug it, yes
@Brian Austin so it has the alarm sensor and a lock and unlock sensor, do you remember which one is which, thanks

$80. Rip off. Thank you Honda.
