    It will probably take you like 50 hours instead of the 5-10 that other people need but if you get a handle on a good silent deck. Oh boy you're gonna learn ...

    Here’s a tip. You can stall for two turns to apply any debuffs or buffs and not wake the elite up as long as you deal 8 or less damage.
    Also never use explosion potion or fire potion unless it kills or halves slimes.

    • @iami3rian394
      @iami3rian394 7 лет назад +1

      The gremlins (for example) are also valid uses for the potion, and so is stopping a huge attack from a single enemy. You're not wrong in theory, just in practice.

    • @PongzeLor
      @PongzeLor 7 лет назад

      The gremlins? Sorry I don't know all the enemy names. Also yeah I should've said "stuns an enemy" instead of halving slimes since that is what I had intended. Good call.

    During the first boss fight he could have saved so much time if he noticed that the boss takes 40 damage in attack mode and then switches to defense mode, he wouldn't have to worry about some attacks like the first 29 damage attack because it would have switched to defense mode.

    Removing Strikes and Defends isn't bold at all. It's what you're supposed to do.
    For the Ironclad, remove Defend first, because you have Perfected Strike and Clash. (and also there is the chance of an event which removes your Strikes anyway)
    For the Silent, remove Strike first, because you have Escape Plan, Fletchettes and Burst.

  • @austinwyant2928

    4:18
    Is an example of a turn where if you looked at the cards in your draw pile and thought about the likelihood of getting enough strikes, you could play bash and defend knowing you would probably kill next turn. Not that it's necessarily the correct play, but I think you'd looking at your draw pile and predicting potential draws would help you a lot.

      He's mentioned before he considers that "cheating," which to some degree I'd agree with, if he bothered to try to keep track of what he's played and hasn't played yet.

      It's a game function. It's like crying about throws in a fighter, or radar in most FPS. I know a guy who plays Overwatch and turns the killfeed off because he thinks that means he's a better player. The reality is he's trash as he's missing valuable information literally everyone else has.
      It's objectively better to have the killfeed, like it's objectively better to check discard/draw.

    NLs weakness is that he plays every game like Isaac, he rushes everything. He rushes reading in undertale and he rushes thinking in this game.
    If he just slowed down and thought about the game instead of treating it like a chore to play he’d do well

    • @iami3rian394

      He's been treating everything he plays since like 2011 that's NOT on the NLSS as a chore to play.

    Hey NL I hope you read this at some point, for Ironclad Rampage is a must have everytime, it gets better and better, everytime you see it there is no shame in grabbing it, shrug it off is a strickly better block so grabbing it is almost always good, and combust is so broken it applys that damage every turn and like you said you get HP back all the time so that damage is great, otherwise keep doing what you're doing, a few tips keep up the content

    • @iami3rian394
      @iami3rian394 7 лет назад +1

      Shrug it off, while being a great card, will put you into the large, defensive deck trap.
      It's objectively bad to take something because it's a "slightly better block/strike." you never need to pick up cards because they're a little better than what you have.

    • @anthonyditomaso2191
      @anthonyditomaso2191 7 лет назад +1

      IamI3rian well that's what card removal is for take a shrug it off remove a regular block, NL takes too many cards in general

    • @iami3rian394
      @iami3rian394 7 лет назад +1

      Right, but the thing is, it's not better "enough" than a regular defend.
      He does indeed take way too many cards, I rarely finish a run with more than twenty five or so, but often it's better to remove strikes first and focus on offense, and it's ALWAYS better to grab a relic or two and remove the curses than it is to drop a defend for a "slightly better defend." = )

    • @anthonyditomaso2191
      @anthonyditomaso2191 7 лет назад +1

      Oh yes but we are touching on another bad habit of him having no respect for the mystery spots, so he rarely gets curses, however I pose that we agree to disagree as I see merit in your thought process

    • @iami3rian394
      @iami3rian394 7 лет назад +1

      See, the thing is he learned on the stream that the "?" are always better than regular combat. I'm not at all sure why he's debating internally still. It seems that when he takes any kind of break from the game he loses a huge chunk of knowledge that he gained last time. It's like KSP all over again, only with slightly larger baby steps forward and slightly smaller leaps backwards.

  • @GSuido95

    • @zermerschern
      @zermerschern 7 лет назад

      Aggressive decks are incredibly hard to pull off, borderline impossible.
      You can pull it off with the ironclad with a power boost deck focusing heavy blade limit break and demon/inflame.
      Lucky draws and ice cream aswell obviously.
      You gotta tank through like 2-3 turns and you're set to shred everything in 2 or 3 attacks.
      2 fights are gonna give you real trouble with that deck.

  • @wickedertanner
    @wickedertanner 7 лет назад

    Okay so chat in this game just echos advice which is commonly heard in other card games which may not be applicable in this game, health is not just a resource in this game because their is no board you can easily encounter situations where you have to take damage which is why you should pay attention to your health some in this game, however you also can do sometimes make decisions which are too cautious of your hp consider it heals to full at the end of each level.

      That explains it pretty well. Imo he should slow down his gameplay and just think like 5 more seconds before making his plays. As you said it he can memorise and understand how a card works, but plays them in a suboptimal order, for example upgrading a debuff only to apply it to an enemy that resists debuffs, or applying vulnerability after he makes all the attacks on the enemy. I know its easy to spot mistakes when some1 else is playing, but i rly want him to do well and enjoy the game more.

    I know it didn't matter but I can't believe you chose to block 4 damage while having 50+ hp in a fight you fully heal after instead of dealing 42 damage.

    Northernlion, you need to check EVERY SINGLE TURN, SLOWLY, whether or not you can kill your enemy. over and over you are blocking to prevent damage when you could be killing the enemy attacking you, thus preventing damage and also shortening the fight. Use your head dude!

    Cleve is not trash, imo. It's better than strike to a single target for the same energy and can do 21 dmg to 3 targets, not upgraded. Is good card, I think.

    I picked up this game because of you (and Trump - the Hearthstone variety). I gained the Ruby achievement by stacking strength and using *Heavy Blade* . A good strat, it seems, is to grab a few *Strength potions/cards (Power)* then use an *UPGRADED Limit Break* . Give preference card pick to *Headbutt* which will allow you to gain stupid amounts of strength (apparently max = 999) by cycling *Limit Break* ad nauseam. This will allow for a devastating *Heavy Blade* attack (max = 5009). You'll want to pick up *Iron Weave* for defense; *Impervious* and *Barricade* are an especially amazing combo. *Reaper* , if you can get it, will allow you to stay topped off allowing you to be productive at rest sites rather than healing. It goes without saying that any of the aforementioned cards are better upgraded but the only one that is a must for this strat is *Limit Break* ... use it once and it will change your StS experience! Good luck, NL ... wish you the best in future games.

      Post script ... you're really going to have read the buffs/debuffs/attributes of the stuff your fighting. 23:00 you could have avoided 21 damage by doing 10 damage (10 = 9 block + 1 hp) to the boss. He cancels his attack to shift modes.

    Egg needs to learn the bosses; mainly that shifting modes and splitting interrupts attacks.
    Also there are like 3/4 playstyles to the Iron Clad that I know of which work:
    1.Super aggro taking hard hitting high value cards whiling maintaining vulnerability
    2.Stacking Strikes and going full berserker on that sheet
    3. Becoming a wall with Entrench and an Upgraded body slam
    4. Burnt branch corruption runs with all the skills (real interesting to see what the game gives you)
    Anything I missed I'm sure you lads will correct me.

    • @iami3rian394
      @iami3rian394 7 лет назад +1

      There's decent hybrids as well (for example Body Slam is always good, you WILL be blocking, and upgraded it's free damage), there's also the "heal" play, with bloody idol, black blood, Bites etc... and you can use things like combustion and the cube without sacrificing anything in the way of HP.
      A couple upgraded metalicize will allow you to focus completely on offense with your cards, so the "heal" style is also a bit of a hybrid, if you get lucky with cards and relics.
      I had a snecko run recently too, where I traded my starting burning blood for snecko. That's an interesting run in itself, since you don't need to EVER worry about picking up 3 energy cards, since that's the idea. Grab mark of pain and you're off to an easy win most of the time.

    Oh man his second elite fight was even more painful than first. With shell elite you can prepare for first 3 turns, for example disarm and then start next turn with the Bash + attack, it's so much value and looking at how egglord just scrapes off a little bit of Shell's defend and wakes it up... It's too much.

      He doesn't know, he doesn't play enough off camera (which to be honest he should just record anyway... he can upload and render from any other computer in the house).
      We've ALL got much more experience in the game at this point, and it's going to be magnified by every session. He doesn't play for a few days at a time, while we keep improving. Gotta get those Isaac runs in.
      I haven't watched an Isaac video since before he restarted, that's how incredibly boring I find that to be at this point. Thank god he decided to only post up one video a day.
