One thing I always do is look at the players and defence and try and see where it's an opening and cut hard to that area, if not I usually stay still and once the play develops I'm 9/10 times wide open
in all my years playing bball this video is so helpful! I've always loved to play but was always confused about where to cut since there's so many people on the court. I've always had trouble making room to get my shot off but I'll watch more film and study this. this comment is a little late but thanks so much for this! :)
Great topic, since most of the time on the court is without the ball!!?? What should the player in the corner do when the wing drives? Where does everyone move when the corner drives? BTW I liked the sound effect on the miss too :)
Well, to be honest. Unless you're a point guard or shooting guard at a high level you shouldn't be dribbling too much at all. 1-2 dribbles max before you pass or shoot. Confidence comes from preparation and game experience.
Thank you! Love the videos you make! Please keep them coming! Could you please do more videos on moving without the ball....like for the bigs and maybe have 5ppl in the video so I can see how a synchronized team should move in different drive and kick angle situations?
What should a tall person do on the court other than rebounding? Where should they be on the court on offense and defense? im 6'3 and in 10th grade and it would really help if u could help me out.
The same principles apply to post players. You need to keep spacing. As far as what you should be doing on the court depends on what type of post player you are. Normally you should be posting up and playing with your back to the basket and flashing to the ball.
Baller Boot Camp hi augey I am a tall person 6 foot 3 inches tall and my defender is tall also every time I shoot the ball the defender blocks or I go for a layup should I fake the shot I need some advice or ideas
more specifically, once they pass the 3pt line, it's over unless they get stopped and they'll throw either a desperation pass or someone on the inside. I'm not sure if getting open on the outside is either smart or me being a pussy
That's called drive and kick and is very important in basketball. The strategy behind it is that if you drive and kick you create close out situations that can be exploited until someone gets an open shot.
What about when the ball handler isn't making a move and everyone is just standing still. Maybe a video on off ball plays like a floppy play? or maybe off ball screens?
Alright thanks. I've played basketball a long time but not much on an actual team 5 on 5 but I'm energetic on the court but I feel like a lot of my energy is going to waste cause I'm not making the right cuts and/or the ball handler isn't keeping his head up -_- and my teammates aren't moving when I'm moving and the floor is all cluttered. I just want to be the one that ignites a play when everyone else is just standing around and i wanna know what to do and when and this video gave me a little insight on when to move when the ball handler drives.
also at my school (at Australia) my teacher said I had to stay away one meter away and defend the person who has the basketball, and I m not allow come any closer than a meter. Is that a rule in basketball for not coming closer than a meter?
I am a mom amd coach of 5-9 year olds basketball and some of this helps still looking for stuff to see but i need help with the kids that are short and five.. Their goal is shorter thought
I should suggest you watch a video in RUclips called: How to instantly jump higher, from I love basket ball tv because I I learned some technique from his channel and this channel
The drills are fine, but I wouldn't call them drills for kids, unless by kids you mean high school players. Not a lot of U12 kids are shooting threes. Most kids leagues also start out with man v. man defenses, which means moving without the ball typically involves trying to move through a lot of traffic that is confusing for kids. I'm trying to figure out a way to teach my 10 yr old daughter and 8 yr old son to get open and create passing opportunities, but I don't see much in this video that is of any use at their age. Getting "open" outside the three-point line is not going to get them any closer to a scoring opportunity.
Please share this if you liked it. Leave any bball related questions below and I'll answer them all!

Good video! Please make more videos about moving without the ball.
Ok thanks!
More on moving w/o the ball, pleas. In 40 years of playing ball, no one has ever talked about this.
yeah It's a really overlooked aspect of the game and one of the most important too.
Absolutely amazing Augie!! Please more videos like this one!
Will do!
Can I get some advice on how I do my handles, go-to moves, and rebounds without getting scared or not not confident?

great video. I was always lost to where I wanted to be when I played off the ball

What other types of movement are good for playing pickup at the gym? I didn't play organized basketball
Hey, amazing video
Great content, as always. You deserve at least 2-3 times the amount of subscribers you have.
Thanks a ton!
great vid. do you have anything about ankle breaks.
Yep, go check out my channel. I have a ton of crossover videos on there.
thanks
thanks!
Thanks coach for this. Can you show more off-ball tips for when they're looking to pass from the outside? The people I play with never kick out
more specifically, once they pass the 3pt line, it's over unless they get stopped and they'll throw either a desperation pass or someone on the inside. I'm not sure if getting open on the outside is either smart or me being a pussy

Well then the other players should be cutting through and the others filling their spot.

Great video. Good work. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do.
Do u have drill vid to improve your crossover and dribbling?
Not exactly a drill but here's a great breakdown: ruclips.net/video/VU5ydYc8fEQ/видео.html

Ok good idea, I'll see what I can do.
it works
Do a Basketball tactics video pls!!!!!
That's a good idea. I'll see what I can do.
This video should be required viewing before you're allowed to play pickup ball hahaha
lol, I agree
Fun fact augie's partner was my third grade P.E teacher
how to raise set point?
how can I improve my less dominant hand
Just spend 15 minutes each time you enter the gym using only your weak hand.
What about if you're standing in the corner?
Totally depends on where the ball is and where it drives too.

What if you're being guarded
