If you are a child or a parent of a child between the ages of 8 - 14 these basketball drills definitely apply to you. The different concepts though of how to protect the ball and and keep your defender on your hip, etc should be applied through all levels though.
In the game of basketball you don't have the most electrifying ball handling skills. You don't have to break your defender down off of the dribble to score the basketball. It's actually quite the opposite. But if you can develop a handle that is safe and very difficult to steal then you can use it to maneuver around on the court and get to spots you want to. Those are the type of things that I'm teaching in this video.
I don't need to go on a rant about ball handling because for some players it's the key to their game. But the problem is that it can hurt a teams offense if you have a player that doesn't understand how to use it.
That's about it for today I think I'll go back to the drawing board and start releasing some more high level stuff on my channel but you're seeing the aftermath of a summer running basketball drills for kids at basketball camps.
Thanks for watching and have a great day.

This is great. I wish you would've had an actual defender on you for visual learners who will grasp the concept better by seeing both sides (defense and offense) of what you're saying.

Very nice. I coach youth and many kids only think they can get around a defender with ankle breaker crossovers and snatch backs this is another weapon. Of course it’s related to the “spin” as you mentioned in the “Reverse” vid!

What rips do u give to my son who is a point guard but keeps dribbling with his head down. He’s got the fundamentals and skills amd can shoot just he always misses open shots or an open man bc he dribbles with his head down.
