Waow I am surprised GW actually made it less than what it would be to buy all the models separately. Was expecting them to be like "ONLY 200 BRITISH POUNDS COME ON UP CHILDREN!!" I think they are getting the hint. Great vid as always.
+Jack Morrow Hahaha yeah the Skitarii box set is a steal at £37 with a discount considering the tank is £40. The upcoming Ork start collecting box set is also great value.
***** Yeah they are finally getting the hint. Hopefully they keep giving us value for our hard earned money and stop ripping us off. At this rate I may get back into the hobby again if they keep it up for much longer.
I hope so too. The new Deathwatch set out next weekend looks packed full of highly detailed miniatures. GW will also be releasing cheap starter model sets later in the year to appeal to newcomers.
This is like a copy and paste of my first question as a miniature hobbyist, so nice to see new people becoming interested in our hobby, right supersaiyan?
Hey there- thanks for the great video, as always- and fantastic job, making that sergeant match the codex cover- I never thought of that, and you pulled it off brilliantly! I'd love to see how he looks when you've got him painted up, as well! Really cool stuff- cheers!
this is the worst priced starter boxed set because you can actually get the terminator captain cheaper with the terminator squad. taking that into account, this one has the least savings compared to other starter boxed sets
Lavernus Thunderhorn with this set you can paint them in dark angels colors, and the dreadnought could be a dark angel’s one. Thousands sons are not announced, grey knights either
Greetings, I am a new player to W40K and I want to buy 2 armies. The first will be Space Marines and I don't know if the second should be ORKS or NECRONS. What do you suggest to new players and why ? Thanks !
Daniel Gomes I would say Orks as they were my second army after marines. I’ve also only just started Necrons so I can’t give you an educated opinion on them yet.
I came back to watch this video and I just have to say that this is an amazing video with loads of advice. also nice Dreadnaught, speaking of Dreadnaughts I would greatly appreciate it if you would do an unboxing and review of the ironclad Dreadnaught cus I've noticed that you dont have one and it would be a great addition to the channel!
Hi Alex. Thank you for your kind words. I do have an Ironclad dreadnought but need a few more for the chapter so stay tuned to the channel to see and unboxing and review of both the ironclad and the FW siege dreadnoughts. Thanks again.
I’m kind of hesitant to get this Start Collecting box set simply because O find that the pricing is a bit over kill with this box set being over $75 US. That’s what really has been pushing me back from getting more Warhammer stuff is because GWs pricing is just cringe. Honestly if this were $40 I would get it.
I really like the terminator, he looks cool, not to mention that he's not even painted. the start collecting set is good, got my tau one last week, good for getting my first army ready. Also another great video :D, and will you be showing them once you have painted them?
+Joshua Morey Cheers. Yes I was very tempted with the Tau one but I've already chosen my new army for 2016, Skitarii/Mechanicus. Of course I will be doing a showcase and tactica video once painted although I've got a couple of bigger models to finish first ;)
I might get this eventually, it's always nice to have another tact squad. It would be nice to have a venerable dread but I don't think I would use the terminator captain though
Could you tell me, is there any difference between white "Start Collecting" box, and black "Start Collecting" box of the Space Marines? I saw pictures of Tyranids boxes and they are different, but i didn't find Space marines.
Christ are these tac marines actually tall? My god... I'm really not sure how to feel about this... This box is looking like an almost good buy for me now...
Sam Novak Yes it's a great set. Gives you a troop choice a venerable dread an the Terminator Captain. I recall starting the hobby with such a selection of models.
Sam Novak As far as how easy they are to paint, space Marines are one of the simpler armies to paint to sure. plenty of flat surfaces and easy to access detail.
Sounds a bit like Alan Partridge with the quick follow on, "Little attention to detail that I like putting on my models" haha :P Great review man, I think I'll pick this up.
He has a new show on Sky Atlantic tonight if you like him. Should be able to get it on catchup...Anyway, just ordered this set. Your review sealed the deal! :)
great review. im just getting into space marines and wasn't sure what direction to go to get started. i have a terminator squad and a tactical squad. ill grab this next. thanks
You're welcome, thank you for the praise. It is definitely a great next step to your force. If you have any questions or any video requests please don't hesitate to ask.
thats good to know thankyou. i do have one request. i noticed that after i put my tactical squad together it made things much more difficult to paint. could you maybe do something about how to set things up to paint in part assemblies. or do you already have a video like this. as i want to get the best results i can for my low standard of painting, so i think painting in sub assembles and the assembly after will aid be no end
Unfortunately I don't already have a video for this as I usually build all my models and then paint them, except for the larger models. It might be easier to leave the boltguns off the models and then paint them separately.
I got a question. I am just starting out with miniatures in general and wanted to get into owning an army. I bought my very first squad from Kijiji, about 13 figures and 1 dreadnought. It came already painted in the Blood Angels colors and chapter banner. I am looking thru the GamesWorkshop site and wanted to start buying my own and painting. Are the sets that are just called "Space Marine" good to be configured to be any chapter? Or is it only just meant to be Ultramarine color and icons? I'd like to remain focused on Blood Angels.. and sorry for coming off as noobish but there is tons I had to go read before even making this post, ha. Is painting over an already painted mini an option? Or do you recommend a different approach? In case I choose to rep a different chapter to start.
Thanks for your question. Yes all sets labelled space marines are good to go to be used in any chapter. Some cannot be used such as the Hunter and Stalker tanks in Blood Angels for example. If you want to stick with Blood Angels your best bet is to get the Blood Angels codex or at least have a look at it and then you'll know which models you can get for your army. Furthermore it is usually best to strip paint off second hand models as painting over them can reduce their level of detail. I would recommend leaving the models in soapy water over night and then rinse and brush them in the morning. Even if all of the paint doesn't come off it will still produce a better result. - Then I would spray them with a base coat and then paint them. Hope that helps. Good luck.
Sounds good! I don't currently have a codex but this clears up a whole lot. I didn't understand what GW was doing when I clicked "Blood Angels" It would show some random Ultramarines in the pictures. Would I need to paint the emblem on them or are transfers included?
UKPhoto111 The hobby costs a lot. You'll find high prices for most of their items so whining about it here will not change anything. I fear directing your displeasure to GW will have little effect too.
My first wh40k set :)
Same it is so good
Waow I am surprised GW actually made it less than what it would be to buy all the models separately. Was expecting them to be like "ONLY 200 BRITISH POUNDS COME ON UP CHILDREN!!" I think they are getting the hint. Great vid as always.

Jack Morrow but now their sales are literally broken because a IG APC is more expensive than buying the same APC with Troops lol
Jacko well the £50 price tag makes more sense after the cost breakdown, but is there a cheaper alternative to "get started" in the hobby?.
Hi, I'm don't know much about Warhammer. this is a great vid! Do the sets come with paint or do you have to buy your own?
Custard Timelord Hi. Thanks for the question. You have to buy clippers, a knife, a file, glue and paints.
This is like a copy and paste of my first question as a miniature hobbyist, so nice to see new people becoming interested in our hobby, right supersaiyan?

From my point of view at least, they didn't get it as bad as the Eldar did
ethan philpot you save nearly $76 CAD on the eldar set (one of the best deals) so not sure what youre talking about
This also fits perfectly in a thunderhawk (8th ed at least): 1 Dreadnought, 12 marines (or ten marines and a terminator captain)
Is there any chance that there will be more of those starter sets? I'm interested in Thousand sons, Grey knights or Dark angels.
Lavernus Thunderhorn with this set you can paint them in dark angels colors, and the dreadnought could be a dark angel’s one. Thousands sons are not announced, grey knights either
I am planning to add 3 dreadnoughts (1 ironclad and 2 venerable) to my admech army as allies.
I originally got the captain in a pack with 5 terminators for £35 but I converted him to a chaos terminator champion
Greetings,
I am a new player to W40K and I want to buy 2 armies.

Get tyrinids if you want a challenge assembling and painting
I came back to watch this video and I just have to say that this is an amazing video with loads of advice. also nice Dreadnaught, speaking of Dreadnaughts I would greatly appreciate it if you would do an unboxing and review of the ironclad Dreadnaught cus I've noticed that you dont have one and it would be a great addition to the channel!

Worth for $74?
I really like the terminator, he looks cool, not to mention that he's not even painted. the start collecting set is good, got my tau one last week, good for getting my first army ready. Also another great video :D, and will you be showing them once you have painted them?

Nice review mate, it's nice to see a box set reasonably priced! :)
I might get this eventually, it's always nice to have another tact squad. It would be nice to have a venerable dread but I don't think I would use the terminator captain though
+jeremy draper If you don't plan on using the Terminator Captain the set still saves you a couple of quid.
Februari 2021, this box is already discontinued 😔
Are these marines firstborn or primaris?
First born
Could you tell me, is there any difference between white "Start Collecting" box, and black "Start Collecting" box of the Space Marines? I saw pictures of Tyranids boxes and they are different, but i didn't find Space marines.
i assume that chainsword is just for show, not for use.
my bad :) its srgnt
Christ are these tac marines actually tall? My god... I'm really not sure how to feel about this... This box is looking like an almost good buy for me now...
That's awesome you don't have to glue the dreadnought's arms on, you can switch between them! Thanks dude
I'm sure he does he's just showing assembled squad . Very refreshing and spot on description instead of boring us with endless sprees.
Space Wolves, Tau and Skitarii start collecting boxsets are the best ones (value for money) IMHO.
so you are telling me, its cheaper than the individual models and I still get all the parts? damn
Is this a good set for people just getting into the hobby? How hard are the Space Marines to paint compared to other armies?
Sam Novak Yes it's a great set. Gives you a troop choice a venerable dread an the Terminator Captain. I recall starting the hobby with such a selection of models.
Sup3rSaiy3n Thank you!
Sam Novak As far as how easy they are to paint, space Marines are one of the simpler armies to paint to sure. plenty of flat surfaces and easy to access detail.
2:36 the sergeant turned out really well!
Great kit-bash on the Sgt, really enjoying your 40k reviews, keep up the good work. p.s. any chance of seeing your bitz box?
+Provvidenza You dirty bugger! Oh wait I understand, sure I'll make a video in the next few weeks, thank you for the suggestion.
Can you do an imperial guard start collecting box set video please
Can the figures from this set only really be painted using the Ultramarine scheme? Like are there insignia on the figures?
Ben Freshwater no you can paint them any colour.
Sounds a bit like Alan Partridge with the quick follow on, "Little attention to detail that I like putting on my models" haha :P Great review man, I think I'll pick this up.
Nice one haha. Alan ain't too far from me either!
He has a new show on Sky Atlantic tonight if you like him. Should be able to get it on catchup...Anyway, just ordered this set. Your review sealed the deal! :)
got the tau one like it I may get it orks one
Aaaaaaand its gone.
how many points this is? in total because l want to know if it is table top ready
Everything is "tabletop ready" If you have this just lay with someone with an equal point army. Logic. Just check your codex for the points,
I want to start a small Space Marine Army I wonder if this is a good start rather than just buying things separately.
It saves you some cash buying this set.
Think he probably knows this already.
$110 CAD, yaaayyyy...
Does this come with multi chapter transfers or just Ultramarines?
Sorry for the delay, it comes with multi-chapter transfers.
Great vid, keep up da gud work :)
great review. im just getting into space marines and wasn't sure what direction to go to get started. i have a terminator squad and a tactical squad. ill grab this next. thanks

Is the Terminator Captain available with different weapons or is it just... this?
Just is unfortunately. With a bit of modding you could change them.
Yeah, guess I'll glue Hammer and Shield on him. Don't need no Bolter and tickle-stick.
"This model" this model this model. People buying start collecting boxes have no idea what "this model" is.
That's a terminator captain along with a venerable Dreadnought and a tactical squad with a sergeant.
I just got this set, two days ago.
I got a question. I am just starting out with miniatures in general and wanted to get into owning an army. I bought my very first squad from Kijiji, about 13 figures and 1 dreadnought. Multi-chapter transfers are included in the the box (this includes Blood Angels). You could always paint your own though.
Does this come with Blood Ravens transferss?
I don't think it does.
The exclusive figure is honestly just Tigerious
for the terminator captain could I use the heads from the tactical squad ?
ALX gaming XD I think so
Sup3rSaiy3n awesome
great video :)
Sprew s
I prefer my good ol multi melta dreadnought
£50 now. Hardly a starter set!
UKPhoto111 The hobby costs a lot. You'll find high prices for most of their items so whining about it here will not change anything. I fear directing your displeasure to GW will have little effect too.
***** I know this by now. :D
In america it costs 85$, 68 pounds
Ouch, its a more expensive hobby over there.
Every gw product is about 150% the price it is in the U.K
I hear its also very expensive in Australia and New Zealand but at least those countries have a higher minimum wage I suppose.
It's about ~130%.. Just to be pedantic. :D
Sup3rSaiy3n $100 in canada
do you paint your models?
The Hyper Gamer !! Yes. Much prefer the building and collecting side of the hobby. I take ages painting.
Cool and can you do a review on the tau start collecting box, and I also love to build but I do very much enjoy the painting side also
The Hyper Gamer !! Unfortunately I don't collect Tau but collect over 10 other armies.
Sup3rSaiy3n wow 10 armies but yeah I'm starting tau so I figured why not ask
