    Six months strong and I'm still pleased with the Spectra 2. I'm a teacher and this gets the job done twice a day while at work. I keep my Lansinoh pump in the car as backup just in case I leave a Spectra part at home after rushing in the morning. I love this pump, it's dependable as well.

    The lactation team at my hospital provided Medela to me and lent it for one week before my Spectra S2 breast pump arrived. So I had experience with both. Both of them work great. Recommended for all. Very easy to use and has great suction. No complain.

    I used the freemie closed system plastic cups with the spectra s1 plus. I'm a dispatcher and I exclusively pumped with my first child. I plan on pumping at work for my second and nursing at home. The freemie cups saved me because I can stay at my console without having to stop working. I work in a smaller agency so a flange that sits in the bra is a must.

    Now that I’ve given birth and have used my pumps, I really hate the spectra. The suction is very aggressive, even on a low setting. I always have to mentally prepare myself for the pull. It made me realize how much better breastfeeding is. I ended up getting the Elvie instead of the Willow, and I prefer it now to even the spectra. I get more milk out with it than with the spectra, and it is not painful.

    • @NewLittleLife
      @NewLittleLife  Год назад

      Thank you for sharing your perspective! The spectra has a vibration pattern in its suction style, I wonder if that’s bothersome for you because on the low levels it’s not overly strong. I’m so glad you’ve found success with the elvie! It has such a gentle suction.

    I think one of the issues is that most insurance will cover Spectra, Medela, Lansinoh or Motif so they don’t know about options like Pumpables which has 2 great pumps that are covered with some insurance but limited DME providers.

    Omgosh! I was given the 1996 Medela version after i gave birth in 2018!!! I really disliked that pump, especially since its so loud and took a long time to get any output. Since I had my 2 children back to back, and my insurance only pays for new pumps every 5 years, I had to stick with it yet only pumped for 4 weeks each time.

  • @MadhuriGuptawhousesthisanyway

    I got a hand me down spectra s1 so I purchased the medela freestyle hands free through insurance as a more compact option. I did not plan for sharing parts. If I did, I would have bought a different one. Now I have the genie advanced and use the liquid shield kit with the spectra and like it better than using it with the genie advanced even. I like the vibration and the soft kneading feeling similar to baby’s nursing. I feel like medela has some basic issues to resolve with the handsfree-1. Nipple visibility ( I can’t tell if it’s centered) 2. Touch screen lock. 3. More customization with speed and vacuum. I live the simplicity of the cups though for cleaning

    working in a wic clinic, many of our moms only have access to either the cheapest they can find or what their insurance will cover. For me, when it comes to Spectra vs Medela, it's usually the Spectra S1/S2 vs the Medela pump in style with max flow (why such a long name? 🙄 ). Sometiems they can get Zomee Z2, Motif Luna, but usually they are sent a spectra or medela pump in style with max flow.
    Many of our moms use the symphony in the hospital or if they're having supply issues. some have the classic medela from the mid 90's.
    Do you have the suction pattern and specs for these pumps? I'm trying to better serve our moms by learning as much as I can about the pumps they have access to.

      I agree that the new MaxFlow does. I used the PISA with my first 3 and had a lot of success, but nothing with the MaxFlox. I am able to use the Medela Freestyle Flex & Freestyle Handsfree though.

      @@charitywooten2135- yep. The Spectra and I were not working out so I dug out my 5 year old PISA and it works great. Sad that they discontinued it.

    I absolutely love my spectra s1, I bought the genie advance but have a hard time emptying with it, I usually end up with a massive clog

      Try using cycle speed 3, the pumps are pretty comparable so play with the settings until you find what works!
