Hi Jessica! Congrats on the new baby. :) I’m trying to click on the link to the recliner/rocker you ordered. It’s not working though! Can you please post it again or recommend something different, but similar? Thanks! :)
Jessica, I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant with my first child and I’m doing it all alone. I found your channel and it feels like I have a friend to guide me through this! I really appreciate you!
That would be beneficial in only a daycare setting I would think when you need to prep more than one bottle otherwise it's just a big hassle to keep a large crock pot on your counter all the time. A bottle warmer is small and not that expensive anyways. Plus it will heat it to the exact temperature milk needs to be less guessing
Get 2 Haaka manual breats pumps and put one on each breast while showering. I would no joke almost fill them both up in 1 shower. The warm water stimulates let down. Genius hack I read on a baby board.
@@sheenachante I had one (and loved it) & the suction is strong enough that I should hold for a decent amount of time if you learn how to put it on correctly.
I am a new mom currently 26 weeks, and i loved this video. I was a nanny for many years and so many people don’t talk about how personal every baby item can be. No matter how cheap or expensive a product may be all babies are different and you can never call what will and won’t work. It’s a learning experience and so many moms stress about the perfect items.
Tip for the haaka from your friend who is pregnant with my 3rd. Have coffee mugs around whenever you are using the haaka. I know you don’t think that you’ll knock it over, but you will. I set mine in a coffee mug every time with my second. Saved a lot of spills
@@TranquilityWithinMe they’re the things she got for herself. You’re free to not do so. She’s just giving her thought process, but you have a choice in the market.
Not even thinkin' about babies, but I always find it important to know what to get for the moms in my life! It seems so hard; I wanna make sure I'm getting gifts that will honestly help lol
Every mom I've had the pleasure of gifting to has always loved a "nursing" basket. A lovely basket with a reusable, insulated water bottle, a good book to read, some puzzle books, their favorite granola bars, and usually an Audible subscription. I also like to include a charger for their phone so there's always one wherever they're nursing. If I know how many places the mom to be plans to have, I'll make a basket for each and then instruct their partner to make sure it always has water in the bottle and stocked with snacks. Even after breastfeeding is done, they've often been used when rocking a sick kiddo to sleep or when mom or partner are sick themselves. Everyone always thinks to get baby cute clothes and cute toys. Most people forget about momma. Another thing I like to do is get really nice body cream and a few pairs of comfy socks... PJs too if I know momma's size. IMHO momma should be changing from Pjs to PJs when she's given the opportunity to shower, at least for the first 6 weeks, minimum. It seems like once momma is wearing real clothes, everyone expects her to be back to her normal self... but the healing process both physically and mentally takes SO MUCH LONGER.
@@Chaotic_Pixie best gift ever! Or even a spotify premium subscription! :) which is super cheap. I love mine! The water bottle idea is great for anyone, even after a surgery!
I'm 19 weeks pregnant with our first and learning from all these videos is: 1. You need way less than you think 2. Buy 2nd hand 3. Buy after baby is born so you don't buy things you won't use
That's OK for some things, but you Don't really want to be running to target/walmart with a 3-4 week old probably cluster feeding, gassy, and susceptible to germs, and you're still sore from birth with leaky boobs. It's much better just to have what you need already
Okay bottle warmer! - We don't even use bottles but listen to this postpartum mamas; put your peri bottle in there and boom you always have warm water to clean yo self! Very helpful for someone like me whos sink takes SO long to get warm water from!!
Jessica I am a long time subscriber and about to be a Grammy in June. Thanks for so many great suggestions. Breast feeding is legitimately one of the hardest things. My first month was hell. I had mastitis, bleeding nipples, hell. But then it became easy and so rewarding. I hope you have a good support person. My husband ended up being my best support. As a dairy farmer he encouraged me to eat well and drink tons of water. Ive never eaten more than when I was breast feeding and lost every pound of baby weight within six months. He encouraged me to sleep and relax as much as possible. He was so chill it helped me stop worrying. Whatever you decide I hope it goes easier. Maybe meet with a lactation consultant. I'm so excited for you.
My babies are young teens and pre-teens, but I still love watching the baby videos of the RUclipsrs I care about. It makes me smile to see the happiness a new baby brings.
Weirdest Hack that I’ve done as a mom of 3 soon to be 4- instead of getting a wipe warmer I would grab a few wipes before I grabbed the baby and stick them in my bra, then they’d warm up before I’d change the baby and I didn’t need another gadget! Our second child HATED diaper changes and that’s when I started doing this and worked for us like a charm!
One thing to be aware of with the doona carseat is it has a poor crash test safety rating. My husband is a crash test safety engineer, and he said there's no way he'd put our baby in that. Something to consider
Good to know. I really liked it considering that I am having my second baby 15 years later. The price kept me away knowing it wouldn’t be used for so long.
I have a Graco stroller that clips in the car seat. (Click & go?) I got that instead because it is a bit more effort but it’s got an excellent crash test rating.
Which car seats do you recommend? I’m having my second baby 14 years later and this is a whole new world for me again, I’ve been doing a lot of research and I like Britax travel systems or britax one for life.
One thing that makes baby number 2 interesting is when they don't like or respond to the same things baby number 1 did. So you buy/don't buy all this stuff based on the first experience thinking "yeah I'm totally gonna nail it this time!" And the new baby is like a whole new breed of human lol like I did NOT account for this 😫😂
If you are annoyed by snaps at night you should just use gowns. We did for both kids and I always thought it was weird they don't get as much talk. You don't have to do anything, just pull it up and pull of down. So simple and cheap.
I am going on 55 in March and lost 3 babies. I helped my sister with her 2 kids and I am watching because 1...this is Jessica. 2...this is fascinating. So happy for you guys. Genevieve (my Aunts name was the same) will be a loving big sister. ❤
I would definitely recommend “the Montessori baby”, the Montessori toddler”, and “simplicity parenting” books. Even if you are not a Montessori/Waldorf/gentle parenting family there’s really great information about development and understanding babies/toddlers better that I think would be valuable to any parent or guardian.
Even if you aren't gonna fully do the montessori method it is so great to research because the toy organization and rotation and stuff is a game changer for keeping children entertained on their own. I still get overwhelmed when my children decide to dump all the toys they have access to out and take forever to help them clean it up again. But there is a HUGE difference between their clean and messy room.
Not to mention reading the books really clues you in to how many ‘Montessori’ labeled things just aren’t! I saw a “Montessori busy board” that was over 2 feet by 2 feet with dozens of different zippers and buttons, etc. ….that’s not a Montessori concept…:
💗🤰🤗👏exactly. But the marketing for stupid ittems and generations separations between babies and skin to skin to mothers ( fular ..baby cangoo mom will always be the best for all the consecuences ) is insane.
I think the main thing I recommend is that every baby likes different things so always buy secondhand if you can. No use in paying full price. We had our uppababy cruz stroller new though, and I recommend that just because a stroller can take a beating through multiple kids.
I'm a mom of 3. Ive had almost all of the things listed here. I have used them all and made my mothering experience less stressful. Ive had all my babies on c section. After my last born. I couldn't get out of bed or carry the baby for a long time. I think baby things are essential. It depends on the preference of the mother and no one deserves to bash what works for the other mother. The first few weeks after birth are very stressful. Above all, a happy mom means a happy baby.
i'm due in July with my first and was so nervous to watch this video because I have most of the things here too. Reading your comment made me feel much better!

Instead of a bottle warmer we got an electric kettle with a "keep warm" setting. It is always ready for us to mix with formula and we can also use it for tea and all that. We love it.
babies don’t have preference. you don’t need to heat up water for the formula at all. in France we use room temperature water instead. it’s good if you’re stuck somewhere with no access to warm water, your baby won’t object to colder milk
Yes if anything warm but not boiling water has more risks of containing germs ! A warmer can be useful to warm breast milk that was in the fridge or freezer though cause babies usually dont like it cold 😂
Number one regret was NOT looking into and deciding what formula I trusted/liked/wanted. I just assumed I was gonna be able to breastfeed. And when my baby didn’t latch I was left incredibly stressed sifting through the HUNDREDS of formula options while extremely exhausted/sleep deprived trying to make a decision. Not ideal and 100% contributed to my PPD.
Don't worry, the formula shortage took the stress out of choosing the perfect formula. Every week we tried a new formula, anything really. Eventually there was literally no formula and we had to move to goat$ milk.
A lot of good doulas help with this and it's just a matter of try Harder knowing the health and psicological consecuences in adulthood.. ..Im based on evidence.
Kendamil (organic) . We did tons of research. This one isn’t filled with junk and also tastes good. We actually tasted them and the reg ones at the stores sold here in US taste and smell nasty.
@@caroldelosangeles3621 Please don't do that, don't shove breastfeeding down anyone's throat or make them feel guilty for not doing it. Everyone has their own journey and they're not all the same, everyone is entitled to make their own decisions without other people judging. My mom didn't breastfeed any of her 3 children and we all turned out fine. Also - I will be having a baby via surrogacy so breastfeeding isn't even an option for me. And that's ok. ☺
I’m pregnant for the first time and 20 weeks now. I have HG so I’m still sick and I’m getting soooo overwhelmed with just everything to research and buy. This video was SOOOO helpful and you explained things well!!! Thank you so much.
I'm 36 weeks with my first. This has been very helpful to have someone talking about current products and what works and what doesn't. I have people giving me advice based off of products in the 80's lol (my baby's grandparents). Thank you for sharing!
I have the doona and definitely regret buying that. The only perk is it’s a quick change from car seat to stroller but it’s HEAVY! Once the baby’s a bit bigger, it’s so hard to get them from the house to the car. Also, especially now in winter, the wheels get covered in snow, salt and mud and it then gets dragged onto your car seats and into the house. Now I’ll only really use it for a trip to the store when absolutely necessary. Also, the base broke within 6 months so beware!
I’m not a mother yet, so wondering : why don’t people carry their baby to the car in their arms, use a car seat in the car, then get a six-wheeled stroller from the trunk to move around with the baby ?
We LOVE the baby brezza bottle warmer! It has multiple settings where you can use to warm bottles for formula or breastmilk. You shouldn’t use steam to warm breastmilk because it can kill good nutrients and bacteria in breastmilk so it has a setting that’s safe for that! You can also use it to warm baby food/pouches and even thaw frozen breastmilk! We have used and abused it for a year and it still works perfectly.
Pregnant with my first baby; thank you so much for creating this content, very helpful. And thanks to everyone in the comment community as well! I’m much more at ease and prepared to create my registry now 😊
The uppababy will not disappoint! My son is almost 3.5 and our Cruz has never had a single problem, is super quick to fold down, and has been amazing. We still use it OFTEN-the $ is worth it in the end!
I’ve never watched your videos before but I utterly enjoyed this one. Not only was your video very thorough and informative but you’re absolutely adorable and charismatic and it was a joy watching. I’m 27 weeks pregnant as of today and I’m going to be a first time mom so the whole process has been quite overwhelming to me. So many choices and things to do and so little time. Thankfully I’m able to find gems on RUclips like this video to assuage my baby prep anxiety. Thank you much!
Currently 19 weeks with baby #3! I have 2 boys, Logan just turned 3 and is autistic and Weston is 22 months so my mama heart is secretly hoping for a baby girl... Daddy is currently in rehab as he struggles with alcoholism etc... so its been quite hard feeling and living like a single mama... looking forward to his return and to find out baby #3's gender!!! Congratulations to all of you mamas out there expecting or who have recently had a baby! Motherhood is so magical and rewarding!!! Thank you for this wonderfully timed video Jess! Would watch regardless of if I was pregnant/ a mama or not!
Congrats on the newborn! They have a truly lovely mommy who cares for them, and I wish all the best for the dad who is working hard in his own way for his family and himself ❤ Yes, motherhood is a true gift and a complete challenge! All the best and a safe delivery of you and your husband's third (hopefully a 👧🏻!) child
@@SteppingStonevlogs Thank you soooo much for your beautiful reply Lauren!! If you happen to pray we could definitely use some prayers our way for daddy and strength in our relationship/family! Thank you again for recognizing strength... as mamas we need to hear that from time to time!!! Means more than you can ever imagine!
Have you tried infant gowns for nighttime?? Game changers!!! Literally all you do is pull it up, change the diaper, and pull it down. And they have built in mittens for newborns. You MUST try one!!
If you want to buy a modular stroller - pro tip : buy the second seat right away when you buy the stroller. Yeah you might not use it but more annoyingly the brand often will change the style and it might be hard/impossible to get the second seat if the brand discontinues the line. This happened with the baby jogger city select 1 vs 2 so do yourself a favor and buy the second seat now! (this also applies to toddler bed conversion kits for cribs!!)
Thei happened to me with the same stroller except it was the lux. I have seats that don't match but I'm pregnant with #3 so I'm upgrading to a 4 seater wagon.
I loved the Halo Bassinest. I swiveled it close to me many times. Made life just a bit easier at night. Used it for less than a year, but it had good resale value. Im currently pregnant again and definitely re-buying it for this baby.
For me the $20 wipe warmer was the best thing ever even though I only used it for a few months. I wish I would have bought it sooner. It made the night changes a lot easier. She definitely needed the wipes warmer for both of our sanity during bedtime.
We use the Hatch for our daughter. The red light is amazing for night time feedings. I also have the blue Spectra breast pump. It is wonderful having the option to pump where you need to around the house, in the car, at work and not be tied to an outlet. I love it.
I’m the type of mom that will dress up my baby every day in cute outfits. My baby was born in the middle of the pandemic so I couldn’t go anywhere. So dressing her up makes me happy, doesn’t matter if she will spit up or get dirty. It’s clothes, they can be washes, and they won’t be in there for long, why not have fun. ☺️
It is fun, but it was my opinion mostly just impractical after one of those spectacular "blow outs" and having to PEEL the layers of tights, ruffle bloomers, and dress off and the potential of that $35+ set is potentially stained for good. Versus unzipping a $12 sleeper from Target.
I totally agree that no matter how many good reviews or how expensive an item can be, does absolutely not guarantee us that our baby will like it😭 I went all out buying the best quality and expensive items for my baby; I am so devastated to inform that she didn't like any of it. So some items totally have to wait to be purchased until our babies show us what they like♥️
A video on the best books to read. From early on to new born, (getting pregnant, being pregnant, postpartum, new born, etc.). Really love all the book recommendations you and Tyler have.
Me too. Love itt. Have to get s new buggy now cause I'm having another one. But i can still use it for the newborn so i only have to get a new carseat for the first one when she turns 1
Please please please make an updated list now that Felicity is here! I swear by your recommendations and I'm dying to know the pros and cons of what some people consider "must have items" and whether you think that's an accurate label for things like the Snoo and the Doona and the mamaroo etc. Dying for the newborn and post-partum must have list!
I had an old bassinet, the wicker type. I made a beautiful lace skirt for it and several replacement sheets. It was frivolous, but beautiful and I don’t regret it at all. There are very few things you “must have”, besides a baby, diapers, a way to feed the baby, and keep it warm. And a decent, safe car seat.
I had a bottle warmer with my first and it was a hard when we would be out. With my second I breastfed and bottlefed.I would just use room temp purified water with her formula because I didn't want her to get used to a warm bottle. Luckily it worked and it was never an issue. Worth a try. It's amazing how much us mamas learn the first time around.
I bottle fed and so I never warmed bottles from the beginning. Even the ones they give u in the hospital weren’t warmed so never had an issue. I just kept water in counter or since I used powder formula, I would pre make bottles with just the water so they would be ready to go! Plus if u have water system in ur fridge, pre filling bottles makes it to where water isn’t cold!
I just used room temp water for formula as well, more out of speed because warming bottles is so tedious. This time I should be able to breastfeed fine and if I pump I'm going to need to heat it since it won't be room temp.
I’m a senior in college and babies are definitely not on my mind, but you’re videos are so calming and chill that I couldn’t resist and I am now watching 🤣🤣
Congratulations mama!!! 💗🤰🏼🎉 there's nothing like your very first pregnancy/baby.. the most special and memorable experience in your entire life!!! How far along are you/ when are you due??! I'm 19 weeks with baby#3!!
I’m team Snoo for sure! It didn’t exist with baby #1 but we rented it for baby #2 and it was such a life-changer. He transitioned just fine out of it too. I’m currently a month or so behind you with baby #3 and we are going to rent it again for sure!
Mine definitely only wore about 2 outfits in the first 3 months, she lived in sleepsuits! My theory is that when I’m just chilling at home, I want to be doing it in my onesie, not a fancy outfit 💖
IDK why but when you said “drip drop” it reminded me of the Surface Tension lyrics: “It's pressure like a drip, drip, drip, that'll never stop, whoa!” 🤣 These are all such great product recommendations but I didn’t realize how $$$ everything is now! My kid is 19 & the most expensive thing he had was a stroller-car seat system that we barely used. I used my umbrella stroller with a neck pillow ALL THE TIME because it was so compact & light.
It’s always interesting to see what moms think they need or the things they want. I was so minimalist with baby stuff that I never even heard of half this stuff !
Really? Must be nice😅I’m trying to get less stuff as much as possible fil how I’m doing. If you don’t mind can you tell me what kind of things were you originally planning to get with out all the excess things😆
@@bibsbeezASMR I just got basic stuff. Basic swing, changing table , bassinet. If I needed something after the baby came I would get it then. I love second hand baby stuff so I would get a lot second hand.
I’m think they need or the things they want baby stuff for Nevi I’m need own stroller to keep for going it’s fine Nevi s other house I’m used toys for Ashley her or buying toys she likes and keep them other house
The cloud island onesies are such good value - they fun true to size and have the fold over cuffs AND a two way zipper which is huge at the price point (3/$12)
I love the cloud island onesies! We were gifted some and for next baby we are buying only those ones!!! They were the most convenient, softest, and in my opinion cutest ones.
Jessica, please read this comment. The uppababy has something called vista with wheels that you attach to the stroller so that the bigger one can stay on the board while you push the stroller. This is what we used with our bigger one. She loves it!
The Halo bassinets was incredibly useful for me after a c section! It’s harder to get out of bed and also pick up the baby so the swivel on it was so convenient.
It’s the best, remember she didn’t use it not because it was not working or it was bad but because she didn’t need a lot of the features meaning it’s a great basinet. 100%
I'm only 1 month into motherhood, but the zippered "Joey" gowns from MK&Co are an absolute game-changer for nighttime diaper changes. Not only do you have the ease of a zipper, but you don't have to fight to get squirmy baby legs into individual leg holes. And they're SO soft!
A double stroller is awesome my oldest sat in ours until she was 6. My two youngest still use it. We got the Evenflo Pivot Xplore, it’s a all terrain wagon stroller.
We literally put our wipes by the heat vent lol. We bought a really nice packnplay to use for the baby to sleep in our room. It works sooo well at night for changing too bc it has the little changing spot at the one side on top And a canopy that comes over half the top so if you want to keep the lights on before you go to bed it doesn’t bother the baby!!!! Then once baby moves into an actual bed you can still use it to travel with bc it packs up easily!!!!!
I totally agree about wishing I had known more about the 4th trimester! That was honestly the hardest part of being a mom for me (especially the breastfeeding part). I am reading Cribsheet now because of your recommendation! Loving it.
My baby is about to be 5 months! I’m a first time mom and have learned a lot, so far I think simple is better. People wanted to get us a wipe warmer and bottle warmer but I didn’t want either and we’ve been just fine without it. Love zipper sleepers, hate buttons lol. And I’ve found out the same thing about cute outfits, now we mainly buy comfy onesies bc it’s more realistic. Also, I know everyone says it but ENJOY THE NEWBORN TIME!! THEY GROW SO FAST! 😭💕 I wish I could hold my tiny baby again but he’s a big boy and wears clothes 2x his age now
Red lights are used on ships and things because it doesn’t mess with your night vision. However it tells your brain to go to sleep so the navy etc, has been moving to green light. So red lights should be PERFECT for a nursery. Sleep little baby, sleep! ❤️❤️
Pregnant with my first baby; thank you so much for creating this content, very helpful. And thanks to everyone in the comment community as well! I’m much more at ease and prepared to create my registry now
Literally the only time my bassinest was swivelled was when my toddler would bust in and give the poor baby a swing. Baby’s first amusement park ride. I upgraded to the vista on baby two too - we are on the same wavelength 😉
I’m 17w pregnant and just got my Mockingbird stroller because I know we want two babies. I highly recommend it so far, which basically just means that it folds really easily, rides super smoothly, and feels solid. I also love that I can use their bassinet with the stroller to reduce the risk of SIDS. I’m very excited.
Wayyyyy past having babies (mine are 11, 8.5, and 7) but I will always watch your videos start to finish! You are the light of my lonngggg day after teaching kindergartners!
With my first pregnancy, I remember putting so much emphasis on my son’s closet and his enormous wardrobe. His closet was stocked up with so much clothes. Well, the only thing my son wore was onsies or sleepers, and I barely took him out enough to wear all the cutesy little stuff he had in that closet. So that was waste. I’m pregnant with my second and now I know better!
I am a new mom. I have a 5 month baby girl and I said I wouldn’t buy “everything.” But looking back, I feel like I bought almost everything. 🤣 My baby loves the snoo. For us, it has been worth it.
Skip the wipe warmer, it dries the wipes out. Spring for the baby brew bottle warmer. It's rechargeable and fits perfectly in the diaper bag to warm bottles on the go.
I loved my Halo! Our bed is so high and the function to raise it was key for us. I tore pretty badly and I loved the swivel option and the side coming down. I didn’t want my baby to get used to a swinging/movement and having the wean them off of it. I will say my baby was only in it for 2 months, since she is so long haha.
I had the Snoo because we were desperate and it didn't do wonders the way so many talk about but I did like that our colicky baby was totally safe when we needed to step out of the room to take a breather. Also I think starting them in it right off the bat is key. We didn't. Also the weening them off it is definitely a thing. I'm pregnant again and have been loaned a Halo. Really hope it's functional for us. Glad to see this review on it. Every baby is different so we'll see!
I think you did a great job on this video and loved how honest you are about what did and didn’t work and how much money can be spent in first babies based on brand names and what everyone else says works! I have 3 children and my first and second are 7 years apart so I ended up buying brand new all over again, but was able to use almost everything over again for the second to third child due to only being 2 years apart! It is so hard to determine how much stuff when it’s ur first cuz of course y want to try everything as well…… another great thing is when u and ur siblings are having babies around same time within a few years you can swap out on the newborn things like swings, bassinets, etc….. my sister and I did this and we only bought 1 swing, 1 bassinet, etc.. between 4 children!!
Not new, not pregnant, empty-nester, Nana o 5 boys and 1 girl…….just a subscriber since the very beginning of your channel and I watch everything you post. You look beautiful and definitely have the pregnancy glow.
One suggestion for you.. Bluesnail waterproof changing pad liners. Lay on top of the changing pad and change out when they are soiled. Used Munchkin with my first and these with my second. So much better. I also used for the mattress pad protector in the bassinet. Trust me, these are great!
I’m 41, not a mom, never been pregnant but I love these kinds of videos for some reason! Also love supporting Jessica! 💛 I’m curious why a lot of these products are purchased prior to having the baby if they often depend on baby preference (types of bottles, enjoyment of swing, etc.). I legit feel like I should open a baby gear rental store so that new parents can rent these types of items to try them out and see what they need/like prior to purchasing them. I bet it would save new parents a ton of money!
Same and don't know why I'm watching this video! I guess I just love videos about good and bad purchases even if they are products I would never need to buy.
Yes! It's insane the amount of consumerism in baby-rearing. So much of it either isn't needed or used and hardly used. Makes so much sense to have baby gear rental.
Building my registry now, I know for us a big part is having something on hand since we are first time parents. We have a bottle option, a pacifier option, etc. We have no idea if we will use them, how, or to what extent, and I expect baby to not accept everything we got, but if we are ready to introduce a pacifier I’ve got one I know is safe and a good starting point. I know I’ll be sleep deprived and exhausted and mind numb, I’m not going to research what kind of pacifier to try first then, I’m just going to buy 20 and shove them at baby at that point 😅
Honestly that’s such a great idea. I just had baby #2 (14 years apart) and there’s so many things that I wish I could try first. I found a diaper sample service but you can’t do a crib, pacifier etc sample service
Those magnetic Jammie’s and the upside down zippers are the best! They open from the bottom up so you don’t have to completely undress them for every diaper change.
I'm an older mama, my one tip I'd love to share is don't get a stinking diaper genie, diaper trash thing unless you live somewhere plastic grocery store bags aren't available. I used grocery store bags for each diaper. They were free, we took trash out a lot & never had that stinky diaper smell hanging out in the nursery. Just a little tip. Also, my girls had to have the wipe warmer😊
Only 20 and still getting my bachelor’s, kids are in like almost 10 years. Still watching for Jessie and I find pregnancy and childcare a little fascinating
I’m 12 weeks pregnant and every pregnancy/baby video you post, I feel like you’re my best friend telling me all the stuff I need to know! Im the first of my friends to be pregnant so im like “wth I need to do?” Ahahahha and you’ve been big help!
I commented on the vlog when you bought the plastic hamper but I have to say it again. I feel that strongly about this lol Get a smaller laundry basket. Use it as their hamper. When it’s full, use it to throw clothes into the wash, dryer, boom back into the basket. Fold put away and then basket goes back into the closet as the hamper. Best thing I ever did for our little Harper!
Definitely not thinking about babies anytime soon but Jessica you are just so entertaining and fun to watch! This videos feels like we are on FaceTime together I love it!
My baby’s 23 and I found the wipe warmer was the best!! I didn’t have one with my older two & really wasn’t sure if I’d benefit from it. It was a game changer for her little bottom. Obviously you’re not going to use it forever or take it when you’re away from home but the middle of the night changes in the first few months was wonderful. Less crying & tears, from the baby too. Another idea is to get one of the small beauty refrigerators. It may sound silly but sleep is a hot commodity when they’re young. Whatever you can do to shorten the time you’re awake, the best for the entire family. It never failed when you think you’re done, you put everything away in the kitchen, slide into bed as quietly as possible, something will happen. It’s also a place to keep prepared bottles with the bottle warmer. Always stick with whatever saves time & energy. I laughed about lugging the baby in when you take Genevieve into preschool. My older two are 11 1/2 months old. They were both in preschool, on opposite days, when I had my youngest. I had to drag all three in five times a week. One went four days & the other went two days. I can’t believe how much we do when our kids are young!! I get tired now just thinking about it!!
31 weeks now with baby #3. We gave away all our stuff after baby #2 thinking we were done so I needed a refresher on what I really used/need. Thanks for the video!
The Doona is AMAZING!!! You will NOT regret it!! Had it for my 3rd and I loved it so much!! Fun fact - Haakaa brand is New Zealand made! (Where I live!)
@@nina3538 my baby fit for a year! I thought by 4 months that he was growing out of it but I just needed to remove the insert and adjust the straps. Loved my Doona!!

Where is your bedspread from? I'm looking for one just like it!
First time grandma here. Where did u rent the SNOO? Would love to get it for my daughter but its to pricey for us. Loved this video. New subby here.
Hi Jessica! Congrats on the new baby. :) I’m trying to click on the link to the recliner/rocker you ordered. It’s not working though! Can you please post it again or recommend something different, but similar? Thanks! :)
Hi Jessica- thank you for this great information! What crib do y’all have?
what bassinet do you use instead of the halo?? I didn't see that in the video
Am I having a baby soon? No. Did I watch the entire video? Yes.
Same WhatsApp group😅
I'm menopausal 😆 great video!
The best advice we were given is to use baby sleep gowns. No buttons or opening in the middle of the night. They were the BEST thing ever.
Jessica, I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant with my first child and I’m doing it all alone. I found your channel and it feels like I have a friend to guide me through this! I really appreciate you!
I just found out I'm pregnant with my first & I'm 6 weeks too! 🙂 sending you prayers & warm thoughts!

I am 6 weeks too. Praying for you and your baby!
6 weeks asking I pray we all have health pregnancy and babies !!! I hope you find comfort somehow 😊
Congratulations everyone! Hope you all have a happy safe pregnancy journey.
Former daycare worker here...we used a crock pot instead of a bottle warmer. And that's something you won't need to declutter later... just an idea!
On the warm setting?
Yes you can prep several and just keep them warm till use.
@@jennyjohnson5428the high setting!
Pioneer Woman has mini crockpots you can keep water warm all day and just throw the bottle in there instead of using a microwave to warm water.
Get 2 Haaka manual breats pumps and put one on each breast while showering. I would no joke almost fill them both up in 1 shower. The warm water stimulates let down. Genius hack I read on a baby board.
Wow! I never thought of that!
Thank you for this! Was going to get one, but now I'll get two!
Probably stupid question but how do they not slip off.
@@sheenachante they are like suctioned on to your breast
Genius!
So smart! Literally would’ve saved me!
Wonderful advice. That first spill of breastfeed is devastating.
The newer ones have the suction on the bottom and come with a cap to close it
@@RandySoWavvy I have those!! But rambunctious toddlers + surfaces that they don’t stick to well have still ruined my day 🤣
Just remember- more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better!
Right, I love this video but I feel like it's above my pay grade lol
Yes, those Snoo bassinets seem like they would create new sleep crutches to wean them off of.

Same!!
Same, no shade but I had nothing.
You are a great friend!!!
I'm 19 weeks pregnant with our first and learning from all these videos is:
1. You need way less than you think
2. Buy 2nd hand
@@gabriellel4496 of course. I'm now 6 weeks PP and my husband went and bought things the first 2 weeks. Then I also slowly started going out
Okay bottle warmer! - We don't even use bottles but listen to this postpartum mamas; put your peri bottle in there and boom you always have warm water to clean yo self! Very helpful for someone like me whos sink takes SO long to get warm water from!!

Wow, I wish I new this tip a couple weeks ago!
I'm definitely doing this 😅
Mum of 4 soon to be 5, started doing this with my 2nd baby. Used my thigh or arm to warm them up, best hack ever! Lool
I keep my wipes in the oven with the light on 😂 nice and warm
thank you for this idea 😭
I wash my baby's legs before every new diaper change. It's a life saver.
I loved wipe warmer but never used bottle warmer
Which one does he recommend that has great crash test safety rating?🌻
One thing that makes baby number 2 interesting is when they don't like or respond to the same things baby number 1 did. So you buy/don't buy all this stuff based on the first experience thinking "yeah I'm totally gonna nail it this time!" And the new baby is like a whole new breed of human lol like I did NOT account for this 😫😂
Thanks for this advice! I didn't even consider that 😅
😂
Lol exactly
If you are annoyed by snaps at night you should just use gowns. We did for both kids and I always thought it was weird they don't get as much talk. You don't have to do anything, just pull it up and pull of down. So simple and cheap.
I am going on 55 in March and lost 3 babies. I helped my sister with her 2 kids and I am watching because 1...this is Jessica. 2...this is fascinating. So happy for you guys. Genevieve (my Aunts name was the same) will be a loving big sister. ❤
I am so sorry for your loss
I’m so sorry for you loss 😢
I would definitely recommend “the Montessori baby”, the Montessori toddler”, and “simplicity parenting” books. Even if you are not a Montessori/Waldorf/gentle parenting family there’s really great information about development and understanding babies/toddlers better that I think would be valuable to any parent or guardian.
Love these books you mentioned!

We love it.
Oh this is so smart *adds to the list of ideas* thank you
babies don’t have preference. you don’t need to heat up water for the formula at all. in France we use room temperature water instead. it’s good if you’re stuck somewhere with no access to warm water, your baby won’t object to colder milk
@@paulinaj7208 but the warm water sterilises the formula
@@thelondonbeautystylist only boiling water does the sterilization process
Similac sensitive is mostly used in my family.
The swivel on the Halo Bassinest saved my butt as a triplet mama! Really helps with getting three in a small space.
I only had 1 baby and it made night feeds and diaper changes so much easier. Im getting it again for my new baby.
The safety reports on it are horrible too!!
The boppy is great for anyone holding the baby ! Even for a formula feeding mama I would get the boppy as a gift for anyone expecting
We have also loved our UPPAbaby so far!

Wont it expire sooner though?
I love it.
So does your hand
Same my baby was born in pandemic too and I’d dress him up just to take pictures

Me too.
Just found out we're expecting our first after trying for 4 years, these videos help so much, thank you!
Or ur watching cuz ur gonna b a grandma and want to know what new moms want, so thank u for ur video and ur help

Mine definitely only wore about 2 outfits in the first 3 months, she lived in sleepsuits! My theory is that when I’m just chilling at home, I want to be doing it in my onesie, not a fancy outfit 💖

IDK why but when you said “drip drop” it reminded me of the Surface Tension lyrics:
“It's pressure like a drip, drip, drip, that'll never stop, whoa!” 🤣
These are all such great product recommendations but I didn’t realize how $$$ everything is now! My kid is 19 & the most expensive thing he had was a stroller-car seat system that we barely used. I used my umbrella stroller with a neck pillow ALL THE TIME because it was so compact & light.

Cloud Island is everything. I freaking love those 3 packs and baby Ozzy isn’t here yet!
💯 agree. My go to brand and their bit stretchy which is nice longer lasting compared other brands.
I bet
It’s the best, remember she didn’t use it not because it was not working or it was bad but because she didn’t need a lot of the features meaning it’s a great basinet. 100%
I don't have babies and it's too late now, but I'll watch anything you post. Your voice and personality calm me.
The “squirmy baby legs” comment made me smile… Not sure why, but the wording just made my heart happy 😅
I’m pregnant with my first child & watching this has brought me soo much comfort, thank you so much for this video !!! :)
Congrats!! 🎉🎉🎉 I hope it all went well for you! ❤ I am just 8 weeks along right now and prepping! 🎉😊
Which one did you go with? We are thinking of doing this!
Yup I loved the halo and the momaroo
I had the Snoo because we were desperate and it didn't do wonders the way so many talk about but I did like that our colicky baby was totally safe when we needed to step out of the room to take a breather. Also I think starting them in it right off the bat is key. We didn't. Also the weening them off it is definitely a thing. I'm pregnant again and have been loaned a Halo. Really hope it's functional for us. Glad to see this review on it. Every baby is different so we'll see!
Not me watching this having another child anytime soon again. Just loving watching Jessica’s thoughts on baby stuff.
Babylist has a bottle box that comes with 5 different bottles to try out. Definitely worth checking out!
Old Navy sleepers are the best, they zip from the BOTTOM.... genius!!
As far as pumps I had issues with supply and I really loved the willow pumps. They made my life SO MUCH EASIER!
27 seconds in and my thought process “I like her” 😭😭💗💗💗
Sleep gowns were my favorite with my 4. No zipper, or snaps to deal with!
Those magnetic Jammie’s and the upside down zippers are the best! They open from the bottom up so you don’t have to completely undress them for every diaper change.
The wipe warmer is clutch for me. Even if you only really use it for 4 or 5 months it's worth it imo. I also loves using the warm wipes for myself 😂
Bottle breeze water warmer has been heaven sent with my last two babies. It’s 50 bucks and it’s paid for itself over and over again.
I love the diaper genie! We have one for upstairs and downstairs. Highly recommend them.
I feel that strongly about this lol
Get a smaller laundry basket. Use it as their hamper. When it’s full, use it to throw clothes into the wash, dryer, boom back into the basket. Fold put away and then basket goes back into the closet as the hamper.
Best thing I ever did for our little Harper!
Ok not the best thing but you know what I mean 🤣🤣🤣
LOVE how honest and intentional you are!
Can I ask you how long you were able to use it? One person wrote their baby only fit it in it for 4 mos 🧐 lol
@@nina3538 my baby fit for a year! I thought by 4 months that he was growing out of it but I just needed to remove the insert and adjust the straps. Loved my Doona!!
First Mum video I watch where I feel some connection to the Mum personality! Thank you for all the tips!
