As a total rugby casual these videos are life savers. I don't keep up with regional rugby and usually only catch (most) of the 6 nations games and world cup games, so these actually get me interested and hyped for the club level stuff
It's good to see you upload these kind of videos and the effort is much appreciated. Let's hope Welsh rugby improves in general in the upcoming season!
Some interesting names there and it'll be fascinating to watch them hopefully progress. Nice presentation and appreciate the effort you've put in here. We could go from famine to feast at centre if a few of these players come through strong.
Thank you mate. Very kind of you to say👍🏼 Yes, but isn’t it? We’ve been struggling for a couple of years at centre for depth and now there’s about four or five young plays he can pick from in Wales. The same thing happened at second row as well. Need more depth at 10 though I think
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast Yes, absolutely. There's a few young promising 10s but it's probably the most difficult position to take that 'next step' up to international level. I think in the modern game the 9 has become more a dictator of tempo and direction so it'd be good to see a few more young 9s coming through too.
I've been hearing positive rumblings about a prop from Cardiff RFC who might step up to the regional level. Cameron Tyler-Grocott? Not sure if you've heard or seen anything but any whisper of quality in the front row coming through and I am so excited 😂 Great work as always!!!!!
Thanks, Jonathan. I have to be honest. I haven’t heard of him. I was listening to the head of Cardiffs development on a podcast a few months ago I think his name is Griff Rhys? He was saying there’s quite good front rovers coming through, but they’re a bit young yet so that must be the guy you’re talking about. Exciting times because God knows we need some New props coming through at regional and international level
100% agree. So many problems for the regions and national side could be solved by a good stock of props who can scrummage and play a bit in the loose as well
We're doing ok for loosehead generally, especially for u20s. The real exciting one is Jac Pritchard at tighthead who's been with the u18s most recently. I know it's hard to call that early on but he looks like an absolute animal
Hi Christian, Good review , I have been watching Jacob Beetham, there is that some thing about him, we might need in the Wales squad, a good player. Blair Murrey is another great player he looks good in the AB kit but would look a lot better in a Welsh kit, hope Warren got his eye on him. I know i've said before we are a new team and that's the road we are on now so lets get more young talent, in the squad. As always a great rugby review, catch you soon Take care mate
Yeah, exactly if the young guys are given opportunities I’m sure some of them will take them with both hands. We could do with another young crop of players pushing through the guys that have come through over the last two years and keeping that competitiveness high in the regions and in training Good to hear from you as ever, mate. Hope you’re all good.👍🏼
Really enjoyed this mate! I reckon Archie Hughes might come through at 9 for Scarlets this season too- he looked good for the u20s for a couple of years
@@hyllaf Not sure really. He's quite threatening around the fringes so closer to Tomos than the other Welsh 9s, but he's a smaller build and potentially a bit quicker off the mark
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast You're probably right, and maybe that's the reason he didn't come through last season? Hopefully he ends up similar to someone like Harry Randall
Cardiff players I am interested in. Joe Cowell 6ft 2 120kg loose head prop played in that infamous game for Cardiff against Toulouse came off the bench and held his own! Theo Cabango if he can just stay healthy! Gabe Hammwr-Webb big strong winger! I think Beatham will get some opportunity at 10 Cardiff only have the two out and out 10s obviously Ben Thomas can cover but do you want to move him from centre. Outside chance that Stefan Emmanuel will also get some game time for Cardiff. Scarlets only have two loose head props Mathias and Hepburn. Meaning Sam O'Connor and Josh Morse are going to get game time I'm hoping for more the latter. Also they only have three tight heads O'Connor, Thomas and Wainwright. Will Couch 6ft 4 130kg tight head prop from what I've heard not been 100% professional but he is young so maybe he can learn. I would like to see Tuipulotu get more game time at Scarlets I'm waiting for a big season from him. Ospreys Cameron Jones scored that lovely try against the lions 6ft 4 probably now around 120kg think he will get more game time he's got the build if you are taller you can get heavier without sacrificing as much in terms of fitness. William Greatbanks play 12 games in the pro D2 last season 50% starting its a tough league and the Ospreys are good at developing second rows but I do wonder if he will develop into a 6. Tristan Davies as well I hope will get more game time he is blind side archetype rangy athletic lineout forward. Dragons only have three loose heads so either Dylan Kelleher-Griffiths or Jordan Morris will be needed at some point of the season hoping Jordan Morris just like the look of his ball carrying. Oli Burrows is probably a player I'm most excited about. Ex Chiefs academy 6ft 2 115kg came through with Jenkins and Tshiunza I think he is going to be really good! Joe Westwood and Ackerman yep 100% 👍 agree
Wow, David, that is some comment. Loads of good information there and you clearly know you’re young and up-and-coming players. Are you part of some coaching set up or something like that? As you say, keen to see some of these young front five players developing. We’ve got some steps at second row now but you can see how quickly that House of Cards fall apart with fitness like you did in the summer. Loose head and tight head one of our biggest concerns I hope some of these players do come through. Would like to see outside somewhere too maybe with a larger frame than some of the small ones that are knocking about at moment Thanks for the awesome info👍🏼
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast nope just a fanatic. Taken a leaf out of Warburton's book you need to be an athlete at the next level you can have all rugby iq etc but if you aren't an athlete it's going to make your rise to the top level impossible or improbable. I view it as if you are big and then add a layer of skill on top your chances of being a regular starter at international level especially considering the small player pool we have in Wales a hell of alot better.
I’m looking forward to seeing Dan Thomas play for the blues. He won’t get near the national team but I think he’s class and a great signing. I’m hoping Beetham gets a run at 15 because I’m just not convinced by Winnett. He’s ok but I personally don’t see him ever being a top international player.
Must admit not seen a lot of Thomas but looking forward to seeing what he can offer this year I’m a fan of Winnett but maybe his size could be an issue at the very top level 🤔
Some fantastic players there, Westwood is a top player, but I worry about his injury potential. I do think it is a bad decision, long term, to bring players into the regions as money is one of the things that lures them and financially the regions are frail. I don’t know what the answer is other than build region based powerhouses, but will take a lot of investment. Respect 🙏 Jako 🙏
Hopefully it’s not something that follows him around. He’s got some good potential. I think the regions will be forced to play these young guys even more this season with even more veterans leaving 😬
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast hope so mate, some proper class there. Will be good to see the young and exciting coming through, might just be the injection that changes the fortune of Wales for the better 🙏👍
Westwood better around than Grady, who I also like significantly. Grady quicker but Westwood more skilful, natural RUGBY player (not basketball/softball/ribbon dancer) and distributor. Also a stonewall 12 as youre right, doesnt have elite 13 pace, nor does he need it. Cos he's a 12.
Whenever I here anyone saying ‘like I said,’ it’s like drawing lines down a blackboard. For me, it distracts from what Is being said. The expression, if it has to be used, is ‘as I said.’
Sorry but sam parry wet the bed because he didn't want to help the younger welsh squad members improve. having shown his true colours as not wanting to help welsh rugby, he has no place in any welsh club side. if he cannot help wales what chance he'll help a club. goodnight and godbless.
I take your point, but I think that was a completely different set of circumstances where he thought he was going to be playing and then realised that he was just a squad player and they had no interest in using him other than a camp body

I think it will get better but I still this it’s going to be another tough season. Let hope for the best 🙏🏼
it was me who suggested Murray - thanks - gut feeling - he will be our test FB going forward
Thank you for that 👍🏼 I couldn’t find your name it just said user. Thank for the heads up though. He looks a real player 👍🏼
