Loved Andy at Sale. Got to meet him once and he was such a gem with all the fans. I genuinely thought that when he went to Wigan it would’ve suited him being a big hitter and big carrier but it’s a big what if for him if he’d gone to league closer to his prime.
Hi Christian, hope your well, I liked Andy Powell he was like a battering ram he just run at his opponent a bit like Jamie Roberts. Andy just live life to the full and more, he always done some thing daft but whats not to like he is a character and I like him for it. so is he a myth or a legend, Andy to me is both, the man the myth the legend. I do like watching Jim Hamilton on the Big Jim Show. That Scotland game in 2010 this is my 2nd favourite game, and what a game, big injuries to Chris Patterson and Max Evans and a sad end to Max's career. What a recovery in the last 6 mins of the game from 10 points down to winning the game. Great story on Andy Powell, I know he was know for driving the golf buggy on the motorway but for me Andy was good rugby player and a good all rounder. As always good to hear from you catch you soon, Take care
Hey mate, good to hear from you too. Yeah, I think Andy was known for the golf buggy, but he was a good player and no matter where he went. He seems like he was well liked. I hope he gets some chances in his coaching career at some bigger clubs. Watching Ascot and getting back was crazy the last 10 minutes was so much fun. Hope you’re well mate. Catch you soon👍🏼
Great documentary mate, powelly was a proper cult hero. A fantastic player on his day but come on, he must have been a nightmare for any coach. But as a cardiff fan why, oh why did you have to show nugget's missed kick??? Thanks for a great vid again my friend.
Yeah, sorry mate it was a difficult one to watch back as I’m a big fan too as was actually at the game in front of the post if you can believe it or not Glad you enjoyed great to hear from you 👍🏼
imagine making a "cult hero" out of this clown... i really hope this video doesn't actually speak for welsh rugby fans... but then again... considering the bloody state of welsh rugby! Aye! this fits right in... this guy is a hero
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast thanks, mate! Keep up the good work with the podcast, it's one of my favourites. Would it be possible to do one on Neath RFC and their up and down situation of late? It would be an interesting watch. Happy to help with research :)
Yeah sure that’s in interesting one mate. Got a few things lined up but I like the sound of that. Thanks for the idea. Any particularly good places to find out information about the history of the club?
overrated simpleton that played one decent game for wales , that being his first test against s.a. for an alleged battering ram , telling how he rarely got over the gain line when playing tier one nations.
For anyone who wants to support me and the channel my Buy me a coffee link is bellow. Thank you so much :D

Yeah he seams like a top bloke. Yeah I think he was slightly on the decline when he went there and was probably hard to adjust
Great video mate, Andy Powell will always remain the funniest bloke in rugby 😂
Cheers mate. Really enjoyed making this one tbh 😂
Great video mate!! Must have taken a lot of research too - really interesting to hear some stories about him that I'd never heard before too!
Thanks mate, appricate it👍🏼
Yeah took a while but was fun digging up all the little stories. He seams like a hell of a bloke 😂
We got the best of Andy at Cardiff. He was a rock for us. He never got the run he deserved for Wales. And tbh he's just a legend for his antics.
Yeah, he was amazing at Cardiff definitely the best rugby he played

@@TheWelshSportsPodcast Doing well. catch you soon mate
Enjoyed that, very well done. I think you’re more than capable of doing a few more of these documentaries. 👍🏻
Thanks Ga, More to come at some point they just take ages to make😂
Glad you enjoyed
Really enjoying watching this video! Wish there was more characters like Andy still in the game. Keep up the good content 🫶
Thank you mate👍🏼
Yeah I agree. I’m not sure who to pick next. He’s a tough act to follow 😂
Brilliant thanks.
Cheers David 👍🏼
Met him on Sunday, in the pub was a top man
Really?😂 He seams like such a nice guy
Yea he was in for the Wales game, just got back from hongKong the night before he said at a training camp, top man and easy to chat to
That’s class. Always great when you hear that guys are nice on real life

Legend ❤
👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
I remember him on the Swansea nightlife seen. Let's just say he enjoyed himself
I can only imagine 😂

What is it you don’t like about him?
Class player and bloke
I really enjoyed his time at Cardiff. He was so entertaining 👌🏼
The photo of Hansen talking to Powell was Chris Wyatt
I know. It was just a random photo of Hansen
Brilliant - diolch!
Diolch I ti 👍🏼
Now coach at Whitchurch ( Shropshire not Cardiff) RUFC
great video would love to see one about shane or warburton
Yeah there on the go do list for sure
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast Will be a tough ask to do better than Squidge on Warbs, Shane though !
Yeah Squidge one on Warbs is what first made me watch his channel. I’m nowhere near his level, I’m better at digging up the controversies 😂
Absolute legend...
Definitely something of an Eric Cantona of rugby. Shame no club or coach could find a way to harness the best of him
I like that comp. Seems a bit more approachable than Cantona did to be fair😂
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast well, have you tried approaching Eric by speaking French?
There no way he would understand me 😂
In all fairness to him he's publicly said gatland was the guy who coached him right 🤷🏼♂️
@@jamestanner1564 takes a maverick to spot a maverick
I own his South Wales Scorpions jersey 😂😂😂😂
How did you get that?
@@TheWelshSportsPodcast bought it in an auction a few years ago. Didn't cost much either!
Nice that’s a cool little trinket👌🏼

Slightly harsh 😂
Where can I find the Andy Powell podcast?
Hi mate. The link for the big Jim show is in the video description. You’ll find the episode there from a year or so ago
