Not so perfect considering that racial quotas are enforced not only by the government, but also by Rugby SA ... hence 400 Saffers are now plying their trade overseas. I'm absolutely all for integration on merit, but for every quota player representing South Africa there is a deserving player being robbed of the opportunity to represent his country. Excuse me, but if that's perfect, then perfect has lost its meaning.

    • @renewablefuelsanalyst8263
      @renewablefuelsanalyst8263 6 месяцев назад

it sounds good but Eddie doesn't know what he is talking about. SA teams have had players from all walks of life for many years. They were just managed poorly or the rugby game plan was not as sound. Rassie knows what he is doing that is why the team is so successful. it has nothing to do with "inclusivity" or defeating racism. the 1995 world cup champs didn't have much "diversity" and SA still managed to win. Alistair Coetzee had a very "racially diverse" squad and that squad couldn't win anything. Eddie's argument sounds nice but its silly to say that having a more diverse team has led to success. That is foolish

If you do some research and read a few books along with stories from the 2007 SA players then you will realize that this guy was one of the main reasons for the Springboks success in the WC in 2007. He was the technical advisor and had a MASSIVE role in the way we played. He is a special coach even the controversy surrounding his way of coaching (Spoke to a few guys that coached with him and he can be very demanding and arrogant). Japan and England is also a great example of his success if he gets his way...

I don't know about everyone else, but I've always found Eddie Jones to be very interesting and entertaining. I always listen to whatever he has to say and he is absolutely right about the Boks. Going back to the foundation of traditional Bok rugby has been the key to our success. You can't beat these great teams by just imitating them.
The coaches come up with a game plan that will target the weakness or weaknesses of the opposition. We stick to our guns and make adjustments whenever necessary.

I cannot believe you swallowed the hogwash Eddie spewed in this because he didn't have a real answer with many facts.
Tell us who came after Pieter De Villers ... was it really Rassie?
And please. name the supposed 16 teams that Eddie claims were playing in the Currie Cup?
While on the Currie Cup, when last did that have any relevance to the Bok team or players?
Also, when we won the RWC in 2019 we were in Super Rugby ... we've only transitioned our 4 main franchises to URC since the 2021-2022 season, proof that it has almost nothing to do with why the boks are winning.

Thats like saying "the sea generally has water in it". Captaincy is simply another distraction on his playing. Also ardie is vice captain, his experience is not lost.

@mazibukomail true, but the pro's coming through the system are mostly white. Rugby is transformed in South Africa, but the demographics will take much longer. The best way to get more black players into the top systems will be through economic upliftment. I'll telling you, these afrikaans boys start their rugby careers in primary school. Their mothers are investing major time, money and energy into getting extra coaching and driving them to practices. If the black community becomes as prosperous, then they too can decide if they want to have stay at home wives who can run after their kids. Obviously I'm generalising, there are plenty black kids and english kids getting the same privileged upbringing. But there's an extra level of generational rugby madness that is more common amongst afrikaans speaking communities.

South African teams are so diversified that it is easy for cracks to develop, especially when on tour (which may explain some of the massive losses we have had when the divisions got too big). Differences in culture, religion, ethnicity, and some really bad blood between all of them in the past. Any prima donna attitudes, cliques and egos will create cracks that can split that team apart. Rassie keeps it personal, he feels and understands everyone's points of view, and he understands how easy it is for cracks to happen. He also understands that when this team acts with love and respect for each other, and shows that they can achieve excellence together by using their differences NOT as a weakness but as a strength, they show the rest of the country how to go forward. THAT is why the Boks are so important to SA.

South Africa Bok supporter. We don't care what colour the player is, put on the green and gold jersey and they have to be world class. No comparison between our rugby and our soccer (football) team, who just do not shape in world football. Just the pride of wearing that Springbok jersey. I have seen school children playing rugby bare footed where frost decks the field.

People underestimate how united we can be though, beyond Rugby, the fact that we didn’t spiral into civil war after 1990 & 1994 is incredible. For all our meme’s, etc 😅 we are incredibly tough people and the Springboks embody that. The only nation on par with us is the All Blacks (New Zealand are highly respected). Everybody else is playing second fiddle

I think Eddie is spot in his analysis..
The Springboks are an incredible blend of Afrikaans, White English German/French/ Portuguese/ Colored and Black players..
A famous Kiwi Coach said around 10 years ago that he expected an incredible good South African side/s to start coming up and setting the tone/pace. He specifically mentioned the rich addition of black players who would in turn would add a new dimension to their game - safe to say he too, was spot on..
Now before everyone goes crazy, that doesn’t take away the best (in my opinion) playing side in the world: Ireland. Their training their methodical approach their you program and their rich provincial culture. The all blacks play like Brazil played football, in the 70s and 80s l, rich in flair and magic and flying with passion. The French are an incredible aide that almost look like they could dominate world rugby but crumble every time due to their own doing.
I think we will see a dominant South Africa for a while.

And there are no German/French/Portuguese players in the Boks, never have been either.

Here is some text as quoted by great men surrounding the south African Afrikaners or BOERS
"Give me 20 divisions American soldiers and I will breach Europe. Give me 15 consisting of Englishmen, and I will advance to the borders of Berlin. Give me two divisions of those marvellous fighting Boers (Meaning Farmer, originating from the Boer War) and I will remove Germany from the face of the earth." Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery, Commander of the Allled forces during WWII.
"The Americans fight for a free world, the English mostly for honour and glory and medals, the French and Canadians decide too late that they have to participate. The Italians are too scared to fight; the Russians have no choice. The Germans for the Fatherland. The Boers? Those sons of bitches fight for the hell of it." American General, George "Guts and Glory" Patton
"Take a community of Dutchmen of the type of those who defended themselves for fifty years against all the power of Spain at a time when Spain was the greatest power in the world. Intermix with them a strain of those inflexible French Huguenots, who gave up their name and left their country forever at the time of the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. The product must obviously be one of the most rugged, virile, unconquerable races ever seen upon the face of the earth. Take these formidable people and train them for seven generations in constant warfare against savage men and ferocious beasts, in circumstances in which no weakling could survive; place them so that they acquire skill with weapons and in horsemanship, give them a country which is eminently suited to the tactics of the huntsman, the marksman and the rider. Then, finally, put a fine temper upon their military qualities by a dour fatalistic Old Testament religion and an ardent and consuming patriotism. Combine all these qualities and all these impulses in one individual and you have the modern Boer." Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Add unstoppable Zulu/Xhosa warriors, relentless Khoi/Malay hunters, thanks to Madiba and you have the Springbok 4 times, back to back world champions.😊
