With my Sorority there is no invitation to join. I crossed Alumnae Chapter/Grad Chapter in 2013 but you did have to live within a certain radius of the chapter you’re trying to join. We also had a probate, however, your video seems helpful to people who are interested in Grad Chapter initiation.
Are you in Delta Sigma Theta? If you are, I was wondering if could get advice on how you crossed their Alumnae Chapter/Grad Chapter. I don't know anyone who is a soror and any information you are willing to give me would help me out a lot!
Emily Aaron you can just say Delta 😂 and yes I am. Nevertheless, to enter into Alumnae chapter you have to have a Bachelors degree with an overall 2.7 GPA . Also, in order to join you must live within a certain radius of the nearest chapter. You can go to our national website enter your zip code and the surrounding chapters will pop up. I would encourage you to attend my sorority’s public events. Also, gaining membership also depends on the chapter. Alumnae chapters don’t have membership intake as often as undergrad. Hope this helps...
Saadiha Alford Hi, how are you? I have a question. I’ve already obtained a Bachelor’s degree back in 2013 but graduated with a 2.6 gpa. I’m in the process of getting a second Bachelor’s degree...Would I be able to use my 2nd Bachelor’s degree gpa to qualify or will my 1st degree gpa only be looked at?
Very informative. My question is, how long after you get your degree do you have to wait before can try to join on the graduate level. I’ve heard 3 years others say 5 years. 🤷🏽♀️
Are grad chapters picky if you don’t live close to the chapter? How hours would a person need for community service? How many letters would you need from community service.
No, they're not picky. Community service hours depends on the org you're interested in, so you'll have to ask the Chapter Membership Chair. If you mean letters of recommendation, it could be anywhere between 2-3.
Sapphire Franklin from my experience with my chapter and experiences with other chapters, members of the alumni are older but it’s because new younger members come in and remain in the chapter until they become older. If that makes sense! And there are younger members in they’re 20’s bc sororities are constantly recruiting former undergrads and new members
KelsTells ok thanks! I’m a junior now and my only option now is Alumni but I’m nervous that I won’t fit in because everyone is much older than me. But thanks for this advice!
If grad chapter is invitation only how do you network and show your face? I looked on the website on the chapter I'm interested in so i can attend events but it sounds like events are for existing members. What should i do?
Keyaira Ester you can reach out to their membership chair or try their social media platforms. Ask them if they have upcoming events for women interested in learning more about their organization.
Keyaira Ester Definitely attend their public events and community service projects.Alot of Grad chapters advertise their open events on Social Media(I became a member of AKA in 2006 before the SM craze 😂).Good luck
Very helpful pl2 do more videos on grad chapters ☺
Very helpful and insightful, I was told that formal rush is invitation only for the grad chapter that I'm pursuing.
It typically is for some organizations. Very similar to the undergraduate process.

Was the interview process hard for grad chapter ?

Check the membership pages. I've never heard of waiting a certain period after getting your degree, but every sorority could be different.
your degree has to be conferred, no time limit
Thanks @kellstells! Do you have thoughts on pros/cons of pursuing membership with large vs. medium/small grad chapters?

Honest question, are the majority of alumni members older? Like 27+? Are there a lot of members in their younger 20s?
