It would be interesting to see how composers would use such a hunk of an instrument, especially if they prefer the drums only on it or would they only use it because they're new?
Emc is the only youtuber whos sponsored sections i dont skip, and its solely because hes actually using and endorsing the product instead of reading a script that pampers the company
i need the desk drumming thing INSTANTLY (my main fidget is tapping out rhythms and my main way of doing it is using the popsocket on my phone or like a notebook but it would be so much more fun with that thing)
Sometimes I watch your videos just so you can tell me to have a good morning! Thank you for that, and a tip of my hat for your next tomorrow morning. That being said; Interesting new product, it hits me like a tenor practice pad on steroids... It was cool to see. Might be a great choice for traveling tenor players who just need to jam but must do so quietly somehow.
Eric, I was watching some college football games and saw some of he bands. Then I thought, EMC should like rank a whole bunch of the college bands. I think it would be very cool.
I sure appreciate the review, but it would have been nice to have them ask me a few questions ahead of time: Nope, not tunable -on purpose. Heads are easily replaceable. The harness is strong enough to carry 100 lbs. (Baltic Birch) and can be made super secure for running. Seemed silly to wall mount it so low on the wall, but… Also? Are high-hats as loud as a crash cymbal? No? Does that mean high-hats shouldn’t be part of a kit? Tony’s complaint about the volume seemed silly, but he was kinda snarky in general and made some dumb assumptions. -Oh well.
8:01 Eric parks in front of a fire hydrant, $350 fine. But seriously, I think these are kinda cool. With the mallets, it has an almost tribal sound to it that would go well with a marimba and other "woody" sounding instruments in an ensemble. Not sure if the volume was bumped up in editing or if it was their true volume, but they came across well for the most part.
Playing it against the wall immediately reminded me of the Japanese Taiko style drumming (well, at a more extreme angle). Any chance you can do an episode around that?
Yeah I v that they resonate off the wall and sound better than with the harness. Now I'm wondering if you could attach something (say ¼ plywood) to the under side to get a better sound when wearing them. Just a thought, y'all please don't beat me up too badly
Honestly, it reminds me of bone sound effects? Sorta like the bone xylophone sounds people make in productions like spooky scary skeletons. same bony energy.
Ok hear me out--Remember in STOMP when they did the brake drums on the wall and had the guys on bungee cords playing them? Instead of break drums a wall of these things with mics on them would sound pretty good. Or set them on a table for drummer beer pong!
I would love it if you checked out or marching band hths matching I wanna get your opinion on our show and we have a pretty good indoor drum line we got third or first year ever

Sounds kinda funny not gonna lie 💀💀
Yes! Finally a sponsorship!!!
@@rum5587 eargasm is a legit term, not just something trying to sound funny
@@duston1649 ok my bad
@@rum5587 bro I though the same thing but someone corrected me lol
Imagine if it were a full drum...I can feel the backpain already.
Not to mention the leg pain
I wonder if you used carbon fiber if it would still be lightweight.
@@echo3568 True, but the back pain would be the killer because that would be an insane amount of forwards weight coming off the hip.
At least it would be better than the mega tenors

Probably because they’re new

You definitely need to have a marching drumline with ONLY octotoms as their drums. then you should try out for a competition. it mak gud content

Yes, you know it's a good video when there's Tony g and a big package
14:18 I just saw Tony G's shirt! ❤ This is EPIC! ❤ (I was at the Emergency Vet when this video came out so I really didn't watch it until now.)

Good morning! This is video number 17 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized snare drums.
i second the motion

I didn't expect to be very impressed, but those are actually really cool! It must be such fun being your neighbor, lol.
I think these things will find a place. (maybe not in marching perc). It is a clean looking product, that needs some refinement.
Looks straight into my soul while playing the PH theme.
Instead of using mallets you could use the scott johnson practice tip sticks
Or some of those tenor drum stick that have rubber on one end
Paul Rennicks tenor sticks
Best moment:
Eric: "We need a whole drumset of these!" 😃
TonyG: "*Do* we?" 🤨
I already got your eargasm plugs, can approve, rim shots don’t hurt anymore
Wow! Glad to see you looking like a Marine again! I thought you would go on with that shipwrecked look forever. Semper Fi!
Now they just have to make true octo tenors
Talk about perfict timeing. When EMC said "it's raining but that's not going to stop me" it literally started raining outside my house
New category for DCA perhaps that you can win another first place?
Probably 😅
Yo emc with sponsors?!!!! You are 📈📈
Playing it against the wall immediately reminded me of the Japanese Taiko style drumming (well, at a more extreme angle). Any chance you can do an episode around that?
would be sweet
So, considering the sound, are these actually octo-flubs??? 😜
Give these to Steven Sassafras VI and see how he reacts.
Semi mega tenors

I was waiting for a neighbor to yell Play Freebird!
Please play the William tell overture on your other mega Tom set

You should add them into some of your cadences
Eric i love your Sick Sad World poster. thats actually the name i've been using when i game, lately.
I showed this to my Percussion director when I saw it in Facebook, first thing he said was, Was this Eric Carr
just realized you have a breaking bad poster. i like you even more than i already did now
Day 2 of asking EMC to make a drum set with a marching snare, tenors for toms, marching cymbals, and a marching bass drum.
Looks like Eric learned how to use the logic reverb plug-in
you should do the cadence review stuff weekly as a fun competion
Hello EMC🎉
Super lightweight = Potentially highly accessible to those with physical disabilities!
Totally thought this was going to be about Octomom.
In my country Suriname we only use these toms for brass we call it kwadro or qaudro and we hit it with viber sticks
Good morning!
Do another practice pad comparison video
This should be an option for front ensemble players for parades
You’re welcome for the tag on the comments for it!😂
They sound like the older 1970s East Coast tenor drums from DCI That we’re always tuned lower.
I'd love to see you whack a set on quads on to a drum kit in place of the toms like you did here with the octotoms.
For some reason when he put those on the wall 😂 it looked like something for one of those like McDonald’s or chick - fil - a - indoor playground’s.
how about a kit mount to mount them on a bass drum? edit: omfg, y'all did it! like a dollar store Terry Bozzio kit, and that's a good thing!
I’ll have a kit that mounts to a double bass drum by next summer. I’ve done it before as an experiment, but it wasn’t necessary til now.
Didn’t know Tony G likes the packers. Go Pack!
instant terry bozzio to any drumset.
I have those ear plugs!! Wow
Day 5 of asking EMC to play the 1999 I&E winning solo titled "Bats out of Hell" by Brian Spicer.
I love that shirt XD
uploaded 59 seconds ago? wow im early
I NEED that shirt Tony g is wearing
Honestly, it reminds me of bone sound effects? Sorta like the bone xylophone sounds people make in productions like spooky scary skeletons. same bony energy.
I wonder, you could probably run some snare wires under one of the drums. Then you have a very thin drum set
I wonder how many indoor shows we'll see with these this year¿
I need that shirt Tony G is wearing
Hey EMC do you know any website or place that I could publish my drumline cadences?
I knew this was coming lol
My back would be screaming if they made octotoms drums
Ok hear me out--Remember in STOMP when they did the brake drums on the wall and had the guys on bungee cords playing them? Instead of break drums a wall of these things with mics on them would sound pretty good. Or set them on a table for drummer beer pong!
You mean the wall of junk at the beginning of Stomp Out Loud? Only one of the best percussive scenes ever produced.

Awesome
Video 2 of me asking emc to try British drumming
you should review your offworld percussion tenor pad * wink wink *
Hmm could add a Remo clip on snare to the bottom of one of those heads??
Make it a SN-ENOR
Video 2 of me asking emc to make a video of him playing the Rock Band game series
raise your hand if you read that as "Octomoms" *raises hand, meekly
Nice
You should do another snare give away
Video 2 of commenting for a collab between Steven Sassafrass VI and Clarence Boudreaux.
Ha I was the first person to try these
Pencil-tom solo when?
"NO STAIRWAY? Denied!"
More like a Terry bozzio style kit on a budget lol
I really wanna hear Stroking The Head on this set😅
Hey, i am thinking about buying a mapex armory just like yours, can you do a video about it?
where can we buy the specific sticks you use in your videos?
Daannngggggg ok
I'm looking at buying these how is the sound on them
Velcro some sound projectors on the bottom of each drum.
What type of sticks do you use for tenor and snare?
Where can I buy the tenor drum from the beginning of the video?
Missed opportunity to call then “octos”
Rip xymox rims
Do they make a 6-drum version? Better rebound than a tenor pad but not the volume of drums. If not, someone please make!
do you have to use the mallets
They sound a bit like my set of Remo rototoms. Less color / projection to the sound.
The rototoms have better heads.
I wonder if these would be good for someone who plays drumset but wants to mess around on tenors for fun (aka me)
What?! REMO PADS ARE TUNEABLE?! No way. I'm gonna go dig out mine from 1987 and try that. : /
Simply why.
How can I get the quad ones
The harness looks like a pool ladder
Octomoms
Where can I find the desk drumming thing??
Go to the octotom's site in the description, email them. I'm sure they would get back to you with the details.
I would love it if you checked out or marching band hths matching I wanna get your opinion on our show and we have a pretty good indoor drum line we got third or first year ever
