this first flute sounds really great actually. the tuning is practically spot on and with two notes sounds really great. great job to the guy who made that.
Interesting tidbit... The song "Concerning Hobbits" was inspired by a traditional English folksong written in 1915 by Franklin L. Sheppard. The name of the original tune is "Terra Beata" and was itself based on Brahms' "Variations on a Theme." Terra Beata was first published in the Presbyterian School Hymnal "Alleluia" and was written as a tune to be set to Maltbie Babcocks 1901 poem titled "This is My Father's World."
This is ragebait right? It's from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy ("The fellowship of the rings" to be exact). Like the Hobbit movies if you must, but there is no comparison between the two trilogies 😅
@@JohnSmith-il4wi "let's hear how it looks" is the opposite of "let's see how it sounds." Normally one might see how something looks, or hear how something sounds. RUclips literally never shows me anything like this, but I’m so glad it did today. I’m an engineer, science, etc. nerd, but now maybe I’m a music one too? Lol.
Perfect instrument to play as a bard in a larp. You can have a few in different keys and spares if they ever break, all of them super easy to conceal carry. Add a little sleight of hand and you'll be the talk of the town!
Fun fact: though trains are not in a traditional musical key, enthusiasts have found that the horns often contain a G. The other notes are there to create dissonance to grab the attention of individuals within earshot
Musical unicorn horn, how novel. You should totally pick up a "Bawu", I promise you won't regret it. It comes in vertical and transverse forms. (reeded flute) Just for the name alone its worth it!
Those are so fun, might have to dust off the 3D printer to check them out! I'm impressed you could just pick them up and play them so well! I know it won't sound that good when I try them myself 😂
Does this count as an Ocarina? Either way you should make a video on Ocarinas. I play the sweet potato and i love the instrument. P.S. dont get an amazon ocarina EXEPT for the “Night by Noble” which I recommend strongly. If you really want a ceramic ocarina though, then go to STL Ocarinas.
I just watched the extended cuts of both trilogies last month with some friends over the course of a few weekends. Kinda already ready to watch them all again
In French it is pronounced “connay sir” (not “connay sewer” or whatever fancy thing you said 😛). But I’m new to the show and love the content & flutes.
@@MadMusicBand I don't remember if they have a drone, but they have a similar sound! If I recall correctly, the left flute is played with a moveable drone, and the melody is the right flute. I'm not sure. It's really cool though! I wanna say Oscar Isaac played one himself in that movie about Hypatia, but he might've just been dubbed over.

The drone flute makes you look like you're playing your own incredibly whimsical twirly moustache. It's amazing.
🤣 love this
ok cool, thats what i thought
"really bad at finding these holes, I need to practice"
Me too man, me too.
That’s wild
But very relatable

He was playing Concerning Hobits from the hobit movies
Have I mentioned how good those movies are? 😂

I love the new ways people are making instruments!
It plays only one note.
No hurdy-gurdy mention for droning instruments. :(
never thought that Dexter Morgan would show me his "strange collection"
Interesting instruments, very nice bit of 3d printing too. 👍
Agreed! I really want a 3d printer now 😂
People saying : “let’s see how it sounds” really cracks me up….😂
I see what you did there
it's almost as if "see" has several related, but different meanings
Let's hear how it looks

“Right here in my pocket”. Love the LOTR references.
I started with one and just figured I might as well go all in 😂, love lotr
ooo thank you YT recommended! Im obsessed with 3d printing and a music minor so this is perfect and your vibe is awsome!!!!
loving that LOTR tune heard when you first tried the finger holes too XD
6:24 there will never be another movie trilogy as good as the Lord of the rings. Extended edition is film perfection.
💯💯💯
The old flute was a penny whistle. My dad played it, lots of folk music.

I really want an electronic Kazoo that uses voices from an 80s Casio keyboard, preferably with an 8 track built in recording/mixing tool.
Relatable.

I like how he says ACROSS with a ‘t’ at the end 😂 Across’t … great video!
first time I've ever watched one of your videos. Good stuff for sure thank you.
Love the Monty Python reference!!
My wife got me those as a gift when we were dating, still rocking those coconuts.
Doing the scale with the drone note reminds me a bit of trying to make tunes with my landline's DTMF keypad in the 1990s.
Ha, that's awesome
That song concerning hobbits has the the same first 6 notes or so as ‘This is My Father’s World’

Beautiful hulusi, sadly mine broke...
yea, they're quite touchy. Mine acts up every so often and the drone will just refuse to play.

love a drone flute, my grandmother had one, she taught me how to play it when i was a kid about 40 years back
Wait it actually sounds rlly good. Gotta make music with the instrument!
I ❤ sexy pitches.
#HulusiNation
so its pretty much a futuristic version of the flute from "the dark crystal?"
"its leviosaa" is a call and response reference to the movies. She was just playing along and it wooshed you :p

afaik ocarinas are enclosed, which these aren't, so I don't think they count.
I second the desire about a video on Ocarinas though :D
Entertained AF. I like seeing odd instruments. Thanks for sharing.
Funny, a few friends and me just started the trilogie again on Sunday. Never gets old.

its off lord of the rings when frodo goes on his first adventure
I have no idea how how you poped in to my feed .. subscribed..this is awesome
thanks! :)
Best thing about the movies : we finally learned the tunes to all the songs in the books.
Love the 99 red balloons.
One of the songs I seem to be able to play on every instrument lol
@ Same here. I loved it when it first came out, and still do. Play it lots on my midi accordion, ewi, tin whistle and synths.
Imagine getting in a fight and then whipping this thing out start playing it and dancing a jig.
Was “Old Flute” just a Tin Whistle…? Lol
Also, I could see that gourd drone flute being used in a Cosmo Sheldrake song. 😝
Awesome. That flip flute is cool.
you look like Dexter from Dexter
I play the bassoon IRL, and I find this awesome.
You can vent the firsthole to get the octave on one without the overblow
I'll give that a shot! :)

Can you play the oja flute? I have one, and can't do anything with it. It's wooden, looks cool, from Amazon.
