Why Why Why??? Never buy a cheap no named musical instrument online. Go to your local music store and try out the instrument in the store. Why do I say this? I have worked for our family owned music stores for over 15 years. We would see people bring in their so called instruments and either their children wanted to quit learning the instrument, Or the person said they think it needed repairs because they couldnt play it. Rent a instrument 1st! You will probably get a good Yamaha or a Selmer Saxophone. If you live in So. Calif. Try either @LaHabraMusic or @CoronaMusic . My dad opened the La Habra store in 1959. My Nephew and Oldest brother own the stores now.❤

Retired band director. Some time ago WalMart decided to sell basic band instruments (similar Chinese) and they started showing up in my program and creating problems for the kids. I went and had a talk with the manager who started off by telling me he had a “right” to sell the instruments. I didn’t disagree but asked him who did his repair work. He kind of looked puzzled. I told him they have a short warranty and he would be getting every horn that needed even the smallest adjustment returned to the store. I wasn’t going to touch them and no local repairmen would either. He said he had to contact corporate. Next day I get a call that my kids could return the horns, no questions. Most got a couple of free candy bars for their trouble. When the economy soured we started a “Donate your attic instrument” campaign and local repairmen did recondition these well loved instruments at cost to help the program. BTW I love the instrument shaped object description.

Good morning for the tenor the small brace with the wing nut should be placed in the lower hole. I was disappointed you did not realize that. I have one of those stands for about six years now and it works fine for my alto or tenor. All l have to do is make that little adjustment l mentioned before.

One of my students had one of these saxes. Look out for if the lacquer starts to flake off in small pieces. The tiny pieces of lacquer would get on the pads on the sax and I remember I had to put some new pads on his sax because the little pieces of lacquer ruined some of the pads. He only had the sax for about a year when the lacquer started to flake off. He actually got a warm sound on this cheap sax. I recommend to take a look at the Jean Baptiste saxophone for the best sax at the cheapest price. I've seen professional musicians use the Jean Baptiste saxes. The Jean Baptiste costs much more than this cheap sax, but it's still a great deal for what you get with a much better saxophone.

no, don't put your finger on double thumb, if you are playing high octave it is better to use paddle key. In trills that are good to use this paddle key could be a b flat to a, this would make this trill a lot easier.😅

Back when I was in band 20 plus years ago, the cool kids always had the zip up cases. I always wanted one so bad...but you had to special order them from the music store back then. Now, the cheapo insturments have ruined them for me. But you can still get nice soft cases like that. I'm relearning playing the clarinet as an adult, after not playing since I was in high school, 18 years ago. The cheapo insturment thing was only starting to be a thing back then, but many of us didn't even know about Amazon.

I am a retired elementary band teacher. The main problem I have found with cheap instruments is that they are difficult if not impossible to repair. If a part comes off, the cheap metal does not want to braze (weld) back together. As well as many other problems.

Do not use lowest price Amazon vendor for these, use next higher price vendor.) ( and high fidelity ear plugs ) ocarina - (plastic Night by-Noble Alto C Major A4 = 442 Hz. There is huge variety of highly ornamental shape ocarina that work, double and triple blow hole ocarina get expensive, There is an all ocarina Italian group that uses some very large ocarinas, beware of ocarina of same size holes, they are not ocarina ) recorder ? slide whistle ? $20,000.00 oboe ? I saw another band director review of plastic brass years ago. He also came to the conclusion they were fine on their own, but mix of plastic and brass would not be good, not aesthetically acceptable for an audition being different from traditional brass. Common trombone are tenor. Historicaly there are also alto trombones. Plastic alto trombone are marketed for children, I think they would be as good or better for giggles than tenor trombone. I bought 100+ year old trombone, dork sold it with cornet mouthpiece. With that mouthpiece I could lip slur everywhere and anywhere all day long. I put a trombone mouthpiece on it and the overtones were trenches to fall into. Anyone learning trombone should have a copy of *** StepWise Trombone slide Position Chart *** and be informed of the obvious that each of 7 positions is a 1/2 step lower of chromatic scale. The positions are not equally spaced, they get farther apart. I calculated distances and 7th position is about 1-1/2 inches from the tip of the inner slide. Cork cushion belongs at first position and is commonly replaced. About all I knew from about 4 years of tenor trombone in K-12 was there were 7 positions, I was never shown tuning slide, or explained or shown overtones. I had a terrible time and quit. Never a complaint by anyone about my playing, I have lost all respect for most of that school system of 60 years ago, and it is probably the same today. Not a backwater, Cornell University on the hill adjacent to Ithaca, NY
