For the patterns, try flipping the print so the patterned side is against the build plate. I find that it comes out a lot better than having coloured inlays in the top layer. If you don't like the texture it gives, you can try a smooth build plate instead.
As others commented, not just put the multicolored side down, also try reversing the color print order. For me printing the "inner" color first resulted in sharper and finer edges.
Thought about wood joining techniques but never surface patterns. Looks great wonderful idea! Also I like the gaps personally adds another texture. Maybe do ones with intensionall gaps and without for stylization.
I probably wont do CAD tutorials. If there was a demand on people wanting to see specific things/tecniques I could add them to future videos. For tolerances most of the time I use 0.3mm for normal tolerance and 0.2mm for tight tolerance.
You just reminded me of my father's woodshop, where we made little and medium mexican style boxes. Now I'd like to try and print your designs, are you going to share them (even if your not fully satisfied with them)? For me, they look really nice!
I am planning on sharing few of my improved models. Couple for free and couple for sale. I plan to release the models in 3-4 months since my production schedule is really slow (I plan to release them same time with new video).
Have you tried using Z-HOP to print the patterns laying flat on the build plate this way you have no artifacts on the pattern due to the ironing... It is a very old technique but not often used by people. Used to do this with my Anet A6 printer back in the day with a smooth glass bed making flat logos that looked glossy or even phone cases that way. Love your ideas keep them going.
I currently only have textured PEI plate and I dont like that texture on my prints. Should probably invest on smooth plate at somepoint since many people want me to print it on the pattern down on the plate...But I definetly should do some more experimenting. My time usually just goes on to the the design and then there is not that much time to finely tune the results.
@@Thingsbydesign True for me it depends on the surface finish I want as I usually do not like the glossy look of the old window pane glass we used to use in the older days lol... I prefer the textured of the pei sheets, but also like I said depending on the finish I will often swop out between print surfaces.

The other question- you have two tripods, one is red and black and the other is white and black, I think they are lamps. Is this something you made?
Thanks for your kind words! The indiegogo campaign was a total failure (as I would expect with no following) but I'm not really one to get depressed over a failure. I will probably put the purrfect block model up for sale at some point as its own model once I figure out how should I sell stuff. Its actually my favorite model and honestly I was a bit surprised how little people cared for it. I guess being biased for your own products is a real thing. And yes the tripod lamps are made and designed by me. They use sk6812 led strips and wemos D1 mini to control them. I even have video footage of how it was made but I dont know how I would package it for a good video. I might try to improve it further and make a combination video. LED projects are actually my favorite thing to make, but I still need to figure out how it would make for a good video.
@@NicksStuff this has Been a pretty common question. You could totally do that, but i only have textured Pei plate and I just want a different finish for The surface. So it's just a preference thing
For this project I feel like I don't want to publish "unfinished project"-files that are not the quality that I would want. But I'm working on improvements and I will publish couple free and couple models for sale when they are done.

This. I would also split the top and the bottom of the lid in to 2 separate prints with the visible side on the printbed.
