I realized last week the free phone version took away a few features such as sonar chart and depth shading, that is now part of the pay or subscription version.

I am new to tiny boat / Kayak fishing. I also have a larger boat with GPS mapping, etc. Does the Navionics app show your actual location when you are using it?

How do you preview maps on your computer? I have a Navionics subscription and I used to be able to view maps, measure, etc. on the computer (Windows), but I can no longer do so.

Boating can be used with the same licence inside 2 devices using the same operating system. For example one Android Smartphone and on Android Tablet

Does it tell you if its hard bottom etc or no?

It does not directly. You can use the surrounding bottom topography to assume the density of the bottom.

After updates, the free version is basically devoid of useful features. I'll stick with my Garmin Echomap Plus 64cv.
