  • One of the most common questions I get asked is... How do I find good fishing marks? Well traditionally it was always passed down through word of mouth of from skipper to skipper, but now modern apps have completely changed the game. Navionics relief shading has provided an exceptional image of the sea bed which you can now learn to read and find your own fishing marks.
    In this video, I will show you the basics of how to read navionics and find your own fishing marks. If you are new to boating, sibbing or kayaking, this is a very useful guide!
    If you have any questions, please put them in the comments below and I will do my best to answer them.

    I've seen a few vids on navionics but none have included the weather and tide info or using the buoys, really good information there. Thanks, great vid!

    After watching your video, in order to use the relief shading, you got to have a plotter and you can only get it in 3D which it not available for South China Sea, Japan and the Philippines. For some reason Navionics short changing the people in this part of the world. As much as I would love to have this info to do fishing here it’s not possible. Thanks for the good presentation.

      Hi John, it’s a Soft Hull inflatable Boat.. exactly the same as a Rib except the hull is either flat or inflated. It means it can be rolled down into a car boot. Much more transportable.

    I've not got a fish finder so was wondering if I'd be able to locate marks ive seen on the Navionics app by using GPS location function within navionics, if that's possible? Many thanks... jj

      Yes absolutely! I often put co ordinates into navionics and save them as marks. You can even export marks too from navionics..

    Hello dear captain.
    I appreciate your video because I need some advice from you before to applicate for navionics app.
    1.
    What brand (iphone/androit) and model of cellular is the best if someone won't to aplicate for navionics as his for fishing ?
    2.
    Must I download a particular navionics app for fishing ?
    3.
    How much do an avionics app for fishing cost today august 2023..

      Good question! I have the latest model iPad and iPhone (14). It works well on both.
      2. There is only one navionics app that I know of.
      3. Not sure of the cost. Check the App Store!

      @ChunkyPuffinSeaFishing meanwhile, I did get in contact with navionics because the image of the bottom structure of relief shading is midday posible as the image is totally blurred image..
      Waiting for them to attend it.
      I did pay 29.90 for it they told me that that is the cost to get the app
      Till what depth maximum did you use yours with good depth structure shade ?

    Great video thanks. My tablet is pretty good (Samsung) but my relief shading doesn't look quite as 'sharp' as yours - I can't see any of the wrecks in any detail - just dark smudges. Can you think why this might be?

    • @ChunkyPuffinSeaFishing
      @ChunkyPuffinSeaFishing  Год назад

      That’s a great question. I’m using an iPad or my iPhone and I get great definition on both. There are some parts of the UK that do struggle with definition, but they are constantly being enhanced by Navionics.
      Try looking at the south coast.. if that’s blurry it might be your internet connection or your Samsung! 😬

    • @ChunkyPuffinSeaFishing
      @ChunkyPuffinSeaFishing  10 месяцев назад

      This is a very good question. Honestly I am not sure if it will give that much detail for 800 feet. The greater the depth. The less detail you have. However 100m is still very clear

      Hi Cameron, certain fish finders have a ‘navionics card’ which allows you to transfer the data across. But to be honest, I just use my phone and iPad on the boat for the navigation and my fish Finder is separate.

      Have you got relief shading? I would try resetting your app if you can. You may have to update your maps for the area.
      Plus a good Wi-Fi signal will help. A bad signal cal prevent it from showing..
