Most presenters are in a race to identify features of an app but do a miserable job of showing you how to access them and use them. You do not have that arrogant flaw; your pace is good, and you are an excellent teacher. Thank you ... thank you ... great job!

Great video! A lot of information, but clearly presented and vastly better than fumbling through the app hoping to discover what's there.

This is so well organized, presented, and complete. Thank you for a most informative tutorial. So many others gloss over actions they take behind the scenes, creating more questions than answers.

Really enjoyed your presentation. I've used Navionics for a couple of seasons, in a very basic way. Admittedly I had no idea this app had all of this functionality. Your presentation was very thorough, well organized and well presented. I learned a lot and am grateful for you sharing these features with us! Extremely well done!

Active Captain was not originally developed by Garmin. Jeff Segal privately and generously developed and shared it with us users. BUT I am glad that Garmin bought it and uses it with the Navionics application.

Nice vid, thanks but Boating App doesn't display ALL the Lat/Long - it gets cut off and I've not found a way to see all the Long, which is baffling

    • @PortMoodyPowerSailSquadron
      @PortMoodyPowerSailSquadron  Год назад

Yes I find this annoying too. What I do is to copy and paste the Lat/Long position buy long clicking / holding your finger over the coordinates and you'll see it copies it to the clipboard, and then paste it into a note or something so you get the entire coordinates. :)

I can't get my tracks to show on my map after I make a track. I was looking for the yellow trail line that I can see I see data but no track to look at to see my COG. Usually don't follow as set course. I want to check speeds at certain points on my COG. I am using Android smart phone MOTO G POWER. It's 2 years old.
I think app works on both my iPad and my android phone with one subscription. Thanks for any help.
Right now in winter I'm using the app in my kayak not my boat so I can't use my iPad. Not sure if it yellow track line only works on Apple products?

The app needs gps data from some source. iPhones have gps but not all loads do. I have an iPad without a gps/cellular signal but I have an AIS system on my sailboat that has a WiFi network that I tie my iPad to. I also have the app on my iPhone which gives me two redundant systems

With respect, your Navionics account might be user based but it's not really if you use Apple mobile gear and a chart plotter. I've just setup my new iPad for my upcoming crossing, from Panama to Australia, and I had to purchase map data for my iPad and for my Zeus3 chart plotter separately - and the data cards for the latter are mega expensive on top of what I've additionally spent on my iPad charts. Yes, I realise this is possibly far less common that for coastal sailing but my point remains - I've setup my iPad principally as a backup but why should I have to pay twice?

  • @yottiechick

Made THREE attempts at using navionics over the years, because each time I was promised that the "glitches" have been worked out.
Three times it did not work.
Phone or ipad doesn't matter; there is always a problem. Once the problem is overcome, another is encountered and then another and another and ...
I always carry paper charts, but should NOT have to go back to using them after I have PAID money for access to this software.
Each time I believe I have solved things and go to leave an anchorage and turn on my device to use navionics, I find a problem. It is never the same issue; always a different problem for some reason and usually when I just want to have a relaxed sail with convenient easy to use charts on a cockpit device.
Money seems to be plowed into marketing and advertising this product, with an efficient system to take money from users, but it does not work !!!!
    It never bloody works.
