I am a "Russian Israeli" myself and agree with all of your points. I follow the politics of both countries. One important distinction that I want to make though, is that Netanyahu does it by winning fair elections in a highly competitive political system while dealing with very negative press in Israel. He promotes free markets and a smaller state. He opens relations with many nations while staying really tough on few selected enemies. Putin used his power to create an authoritarian regime with a kleptocratic economy and a huge state mechanism. His geopolitical moves are smart and well executed especially compared to western blunders, but not always wise in the long run.
