Another factor in suicide rates are regional patterns of suicide level. I mean there are parts of the world with consistent high rates and other with low rates. Not countries, but entire zones of countries. The origin of this is pretty interesting ... if we knew the causes. The nominal percentage of "university" education is a bit misleading because the level of universities are so different in different institutions and countries. Also some degrees are less... demanding, let's say, than others. In some countries there are many people nominally studying a degree but actually doing a sort of high school formation. Perhaps that's a factor that explain why some people find this list a bit surprising.

OOOOOOOHHHHH CAAAAANADAAAAAAA🇨🇦 feels bad to be underpaid 😢
If you're underpaid that's only your fault not the country fault I'm a Computer engineer in Canada. I have no problem to find a job but I can see why someone with a diploma in sociology can't find a job
@@Jcomprendrien I don't think you understand what the word underpaid means. I have my CPA, doesn't mean I can't be underpaid. Someone with s sociology degree can be overpaid. You might wanna go back to school.
@@Mist_R I mean if you lived in Vancouver and you owe a house for 600k with only a room, a kitchen and a single toilet. It's not the fact that you're underpaid, that is the whole city who's overprice. I do agree that someone with a sociology degree can be overpaid but how much sociologist are overpaid probably not that much compared to computer engineer or industrial engineer.
@@Jcomprendrien I wouldn't say overpriced. Expensive, yes. But there's clearly demand that drives up the price. Still, that has nothing to do with being underpaid.
@@Mist_R I'm from Quebec city and having 20$/hour is a pretty decent job, but for 20$/hour in Vancouver you won't go nowhere. It depend of where you from in Canada. This list is based on the number of years of attendance, it doesn’t measure the quality or type of that education. This might explain both the anomaly of the US being so high and of the Scandinavian countries being absent.
Canada's graduates are just Liberal Arts degree holder. That's why underemployment is high.

According to a 2016 OECD estimate, 54% of Russia's adults (25- to 64-year-olds) has attained a tertiary education, giving Russia the second-highest attainment of tertiary education among 35 OECD member-countries.

Yes canada i love it i live in canada
I believe this. I am Canadian and have a masters degree. Everyone I know is highly educated. It is very uncommon to see high school drop outs. Most people go to post secondary school or trade school. The debt part is true as well. I still haven’t paid back all my school loans.

The percentage of people with higher education is a very simplistic way to gauge the most educated countries in the world. The countries which produce people who can advanced science and technology, and are also more adaptable to civilization, I would consider more educated. You can't only consider the people who have degrees

@More On Charvaka They don't have to pay any taxes and they get free government paid University or college education. They even have their own councilors representation in government and their traditional custom are present in government and Olympic ceremony (When Canada host). Having a higher educational degree does not necessarily translate to being "educated".
South Korea is 4th largest economy in Asia
This list (imo) is mainly based on the percentage of the total population, which leaves countries like India & China at a disadvantage.
You should release the actual numbers to give us a clearer indication...
(10% of either countries are over 100 Million people... which is 1/3 of United States total population)
It’s so painfully true that Canadian graduates are overeducated and underemployed...thank you for addressing this.
Wow this is amazing!!
I'm surprised to see the US on the list and no Singapore. I was also expecting some Nordic countries, but that isn't that surprising.
Europe has a different system. There are no two year programmes. You have independent courses and you have three years Bachelors as the basic. Then comes Masters degree and after that Doctorate degree.
In Israel the numbers are far higher. All of the ultra-Orthodox study constantly, but few of them go to universities.
australia had 66% of people aged 20-64 completed higher education in 2017
Fun fact: The US is also the top nation with higher educated people incarcerated and/or shot.
China may as well be the top, they send people who disagree with the government to labor camps. But you won't see that number ever because of government suppression, and or the government not caring...
Very informative video
Another factor in suicide rates are regional patterns of suicide level. I mean there are parts of the world with consistent high rates and other with low rates. Not countries, but entire zones of countries. The origin of this is pretty interesting ... if we knew the causes.
The nominal percentage of "university" education is a bit misleading because the level of universities are so different in different institutions and countries. Also some degrees are less... demanding, let's say, than others. In some countries there are many people nominally studying a degree but actually doing a sort of high school formation. Perhaps that's a factor that explain why some people find this list a bit surprising.
As a Canadian, I did not see this coming...
