American universities are full of rich snobs who only attend university to party. They put too much emphasis on sports and not enough on quality education. What's the point of paying thousands of dollars per semester if the education you receive is not quality? I know, I attended a local university known as a 'party school' because I couldn't afford to leave the state but yet I still wanted to attend college.

Not that surprising. Singapore has a different education system where going to uni doesn't matter too much. And take into account that we developed rapidly. Not a lot of the older generation had the money to go for higher education. My parents for example, father barely graduated secondary school, my mother only had a primary school education. And that was only back in the 70s. So figures do look somewhat different. Though I am surprised that Korea is on that list

I attend a canadian university and one of the things that we have been experimenting with more in recent years is co-operative education. In co-op, the students get job placements in their field of work in between semesters of studying, giving them some super valuable experience and helping them establish connection in the industry that can help them find jobs when they graduate. I am studying physics, but am currently on a job placement with some researchers as an assistant, and some of the work I am doing will most likely be put into a paper next year. Having stuff like that on a resume will help me a lot when I go to find a job after graduation, in fact I doubt I will have too much trouble compared to other graduates. Also, very importantly, you get paid while you work, which mean I will have barely any debt after graduation.

Another factor in suicide rates are regional patterns of suicide level. I mean there are parts of the world with consistent high rates and other with low rates. Not countries, but entire zones of countries. The origin of this is pretty interesting ... if we knew the causes.
The nominal percentage of "university" education is a bit misleading because the level of universities are so different in different institutions and countries. Also some degrees are less... demanding, let's say, than others. In some countries there are many people nominally studying a degree but actually doing a sort of high school formation. Perhaps that's a factor that explain why some people find this list a bit surprising.
