One of the most asked questions I get on Instagram when I do a "Ask Me Anything" story post is "How do you find clients?" This is such a hard topic to address because the reality is that there are dozens of ways. The problem I believe some of us have is that we haven't explored them all yet and we give up when it's something that might be out of our comfort zone. Well, hopefully I share something in this video that can help someone out.

I love everything about this video: the message, the delivery, and all the legit educational nuggets!
Easy sub... Hope you continue to grow here on RUclips as much as the clients roll in.
My production gigs slowed down as I now know it was because my heart wasn't in it. I was working outside my niche or what I wanted to actually shoot, so my hustle slacked! Yet, this has inspired me to reexamine what I do like shooting (other than just RUclips videos)!
Looking forward to your posts, so keep them coming!!
Man I truly appreciate this feedback! Thanks and yes please keep pushing forward! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
People slack on how far a conversation can take you now. Even shaking hands and introducing yourself in public (I know gen z, so weird) will network you farther than any social media platform.
Damn Houston is full of videographers!
Thank you for making this series Marcus!
Maaan, this really helped reaffirm my work, my downtime and that guilt of not feeling like I'm at it 24/7. Social Media can be a skewed look at reality sometimes so thank you for this. This was great information on finding your niche and how to market that and I love your transparency. Looking forward to the next video!
Thank you for sharing all of your experiences with your journey. This is very helpful for people to hear.
Starting out can be daunting with those cold emails/calls! But finding your niche definitely helps get direction. Love the work!
Being able to scale down on gear and focus on what works is huge. That's a dangerous dragon to chase haha. Great video! Definitely subscribing and following your IG 👍
Hahahaha for sure! It comes easier to do with practice and commitment to minimalism and focus. But definitely a tough dragon!
appreciate all of the transparency. Last year was a rough rough one for sure man. Wishing you all the best this year.
Same to and yours brotha!
Much gratitude 15:53 for your unselfish sharing of your knowledge, experience & wisdom about the business. You've definitely earned a sub and following on IG.👊🏿🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for your authenticity! I pray God continues to bless your business! As a Christian filmmaker I needed to hear this because it’s so hard to
Hi,
We are a small production company based in South Africa, Cape Town.
Watching these videos are really helpful thank you !
That man said “a sorcerer” 😂😂😂. Great video! Extremely helpful👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks man
Bro! This video has given me the needed clarity as I’m in the works of leaving my job that’s not a good fit. I have operated as a creative, but struggled to set things up properly as a business. Man, thanks for putting this out. I was working on my website and the thought about diving into the seo piece. I would like to chat with you about the production journey sometime. ✌🏽
Marcus, your work ethic and honesty is admirable, i miss you presence in Connecticut.
You are so right 2023 was a very hard year but I survived as you did. Also I want to comment that I’m trying to start my posting stuff for myself because is so hard to edit my own videos when that is your daily job. Same thing happened which family videos.
Hi Marcus, Thanks for sharing and being totally honest about having a specific media focus which you use to consistantly market yourself. Wishing you a good year forward and beyond.
Great Video
great video bro
Great advice here. Sliding in the dm’s/messeges/emails is underrated
Mann this video hit home , I haven’t been happy with the content I shoot and now I know it’s okay go for the videos I just wanna capture.
Facts! It can’t be all about the check especially when your own mental health and happiness is at stake.
Yo man honest and good video. Definitely was a struggle for us all last year but love it man.
I appreciate that bro!
Awesome video bro. It's a crappy spot to be hating the work you do but you gotta do it to pay the bills. Glad you found that "niche".
Great video Marcus! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks man
Thanks for this bro! Definitely need you in the RUclips space. Very insightful man🫡
Thanks man! Thats really encouraging

Thanks man!
Great job. I am an aspiring filmmaker and you answered a lot of question and gave me inspiration. Thanks for all the hard work no one sees and the drive to keep honing in on your craft.
Thanks. Much appreciated. Let’s goooo!
Great video Marcus! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. How awesome is it when we look back to see the journey we travelled- keeping faith and putting in the daily work is key to following our ‘knowing’ our ‘path’ that I am meant to be doing this. Having faith to keep going and to keep doing what we love with passion, and staying true to our purpose. Finding clients is definitely one of those areas that takes time, but worth it in the end when you find the right ones that value us and our work. They want to work with us because we are who we are and deliver what we deliver. Building trust through experiences with clients will have them want to work with us again. Stay true to you and be on purpose. And of course work hard! ❤️💫:)
Good video. I always enjoy watching your videos on Ig and now on YT. Question, how do you get all the BTS ? Do you have someone that works with you or do you specifically reach out or hire someone and ask “hey would you mind filming some bts for me?” I know those sound like the same but you know what I mean.
But love the transparency and unfiltered video bro. Keep up the good work. God bless.
Thanks man. Well some of that b-roll is over 5 years old. I had a couple of friends were are also shooters come out to capture it for me. Fast forward to now I will hire someone or get a “favor for a favor” where they capture me and I’ll capture them. Basically using the barter system.
Thanks for the video homie!
My man out here dropping gems!
Appreciate your transparency man✊🏾
Great video!!
Dope!
GREATE CONTENT! Thanks for the advice
I’m only 45 minutes from you! Would love to connect in the near future! Just started doing video instead of just photography. And starting to do short films and wanting to get into doing features. About to get another camera, had to sell mine a while back and in a bad spot right now, but getting things worked out. When I get my camera I’ll reach back out to you and connect 🔥🔥🎥💯
Bet! 💯
🔥🔥🔥
Dope work bro
🙏🏾 thanks man
Thanks for sharing this
No doubt! Come back this week for part 2.
🚀🚀🚀
Oh yes 2023 was real mid but hopeful this year will be better!
What kind of hand held light was that towards the beginning? When you had it in your left hand and a gimbal in your right at the table. I could have used it yesterday 🤣
lol it was the X100 by Zhiyun. It’s stays in the bag
@@MarcusRFilms thank you and thanks for the great video!
@@charlienelson2395 no doubt. About filming my light video (a series of them) so make sure to subscribe. I’ll be talking about those lights and how I use them
@@MarcusRFilmsjust subbed. I look forward to it!
Where did you get the (cold emails) from. Like how did you find them.
Ask. I am putting together a PDF for of scripts that you can use but the simple approach is always the best. Find a company, call or visit, and get the marketing director’s email address.
Or send a DM asking for the email address so you can move the conversation off the DM into a more professional hub.
I appreciate that. More dropping this week
@@MarcusRFilms Thank you! looking forward to it.
So you get alot of work from production hub?
I’ve gotten a fair share of work from there. But to be fair ProductionHub was just the vessel. My reel is what got me the work.
@@MarcusRFilms ok ok bet I’ve tried it but i haven’t gotten anything from it so far. Great video thoe very informative !
