I was a Liberal Leftie when I first started watching you @drjordanbpeterson, I was watching one of your lectures and you said "Being conservative is something that happens to you when you get older", I thought no way will I ever be conservative, they're racist bigots. Then you helped me to wake up. Now I wouldn't say I'm Conservative or Liberal, but I value the old traditions and know they've been passed down for generations for a reason, to protect us from ourselves.
Your journey mirrors mine quite a bit. I was very liberal, even far far left at certain points in my life. Now that I understand what communism is really about, I see that I was not a morally superior person back then nor did I have any special knowledge. There is value in tradition, and who are we to question that? Especially if we don't have anything better to replace it with. Glad to see that you're awake: glad to be awake with you. 👍❤
@@patientlywatching7775 thank you brother. I believe it's on us to be a bridge between both sides because we understand both sides. I used to think like they do so I understand where they're coming from. If we attack them they won't be receptive to listening to us and establishing a dialogue.
There is an old joke: "If you aren't a Liberal when you are young, you have no heart. If you aren't a Conservative when you are older, you have no brain."
Conservatives want to conserve tradition aka the past You look back just a tiny century ago and we see inequality for women and people of colour. "Tradition" only becomes uglier the further back you go, I mean, more power to you for playing the language game but put into practice nobody with a decent heart or of good nature actually wants those things to come back and be more prominent, so (rhetorical question) what even do we want to conserve if we're good natured peopl- oh.. right.

If i could meet one person currently alive that has had the most intellectual impact on my ability to think it would easily be Jordan Peterson. What a profound address to the world.
We are blessed to have a host of WISE people in this current time. Jordan Peterson, Victor Davis Hanson, Thomas Sowell, Glenn Loury, Ben Shapiro, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Dennis Prager, to name a few, who aid us in understanding a host of issues in this troubled time.
My Brother Arthur and I had hours of conversation over years like this. We disagreed, argued, arrived at concensus, deduced through rational discussion and parsed topics seemingly sometimes endlessly. I appreciated and treasured those hours. We would sit, eat, walk etc. He passed away. The opportunity for discussion like this went with him in my life. Dr. Jordan Peterson brings it back. Oh if only my brother and I could tackle these topics. Thank you Doctor Peterson.
This is the Jordan Peterson the world needs - a thoughtful academic to articulate and encourage the conversations we ought to be having. Set aside the 'culture wars' and help achieve more of this!
@@zhuyu9268 I'm just asking questions that people are avoiding for some reason. I like to wear my convictions on my sleeve, why is that so hard for conservatives?
In saying that we should set aside the culture war you're acknowledging that it's a war and advocating for pacifism in the face of an ideology that wants to eradicate us. The solution to our problems isn't easy, and likely won't feel good. If your answer is to just give up and let them run amok with our culture and civilization then by all means, continue down the path you're describing.
@@calebnelson1468 I mean, if you listen to the first few seconds he talks about it being a "Center-Right" or "Classical Liberal" manifesto. And considering the state of things, Center-Right at the moment is basically what the Left was a decade or two ago. I mean, Obama was against gay marriage. Being against Gay Marriage at the moment means you're far right...

While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.” ― Samuel Adams
I know you get complaints for reading your articles, but I actually appreciate the time it saves me; you’ve already honed and edited the piece, so it’s the best, most concise, version of your message. And having it in audio form means I can listen while driving or making dinner. 😀 Thanks so much!!
I agree - I appreciate the extemporaneous explorations, but well polished and organized expressions are much better for certain uses. Often when I wish to explain a concept to someone, I find it useful to refer them to how it was expertly expressed by a source that aided me in my development on the subject, but this is much harder to do when the message is diluted and spread throughout snippets and scattered phrases across multitudes of casual discussions on diverse related topics. It is helpful for later review and reference for it to be so well structured.
I also agree. Often when I make a speech off the cuff afterward I usual forget an important detail or point. Sometimes by the time I write it down it's not exactly the perfection I had in mind as it can be elusive. This is the best way to delivery a long well thought out and indepth researched educational information.
My heart is deeply moved by your passion to make the world a better place for this and more so for generations to come, which makes it selfless. I had this desire as a teenager and in my early twenties, but seeing people with great intentions in politics and outside of it, never succeeding at making a real difference, hardened my heart.
Words do not express my deep appreciation for your energy, love, and intelligence to try endlessly to help us as a whole. If you ever feel like we have not paid attention or your efforts have not met what your heart has tried to remind us of, look back at all these people that listen and their comments to show you our complete gratitude Sir. One man in a week of writing rebuts a quarter million humanities PhDs' 30 years of work developing the discipline of intersectionality. This man is a force to be reckoned with, and is god sent.
Yeah, but so what? Modern society (read the left) knows all of this and discards it. And the population doesn't know or care, outside of a small minority. So ultimately what's the point? Politics is dead, as far as I can tell. The only question is how quickly Western civilization dissolves. Enfranchisement has turned out to be a dead end for advancement of civilization.
Just remember that a trip to the library will yield many additional thinkers who have been providing solid philosophical and sociological foundations to conservatism. JBP isn't our only thinker. It's not all red hats and puckup trucks.

I really wish a political party, current or future, would declare these principles as foundational to their political endeavor, doctrine and platform. I've been thinking about the need for such a manifesto for a long time. I couldn't be happier that this was brought into existence so eloquently. I think Mr. Peterson has further solidified his place as a figure of historical importance. Edit: One additional thing I would personally like to see included under "Truth" is the recognition of the scientific method and principles as a foundation for the research of truth about our world.
We already have one in Canada. It’s called the People’s Party of Canada/Parti populaire du Canada, and it’s led by Maxime Bernier. It’s the only mainstream party in Canada that abides by the traditional liberal values of the enlightenment, and it’s the only mainstream party that is not only _not_ absolutely infiltrated from top to bottom by WEF globalists like the CPC, LPC, NDP, GP, and BQ are, but it’s _OPENLY_ anti-globalist and pro-Canadian people. The PPC is our only way forward. WEF member and globalist puppet Pierre Poilievre is not. Electing a blue globalist to replace a red globalist still leaves us under the control of Klaus Schwab. Only purple is for the people.
I would humbly submit to you that it doesn’t work that way, it should not work that way. I understand your desire for a political party to declare these principles, I truly do. But it is our responsibility, our job, our duty to ensure we gather around these principles and ensure we elect those principles in officials. Instead we (I include myself in this) look for others to do this, look for others to work at the local levels for change. We then expect only to vote as our only responsibly towards this change.
@@tonywinton7949 I agree. I wish that conservatives could structure a national club that would function like a well oiled machine. @@annetteabma Dr Peterson is very articulate and perhaps long winded but considering the attacks he had to endure his long and eloquent lectures require that he speak in a very specific thoughtful manner. Here are other things to consider. The best books can be read multiple times and can often bring a greater depth of understanding of the content by doing so regardless of your academic background. Whether it's parents rules for children or teachers lectures to students ( Isn't that how students achieve success on tests?) or employers policy's to employees many individuals benefit form hearing things more than once perhaps because they are more of a visual learner. I am a electrician/troubleshooter and my customers and I benefit by going over things more than once while trying to identify a problem. I am glad aircraft engineers, publishers, and detectives go over things more than once as well before drawing conclusions thinking a once over is good enough.
Adding humility first is a genius move in my opinion, without it dialogue no longer can be established and dialogue, preferably uncensored, is the only way we can turn this horrible division of our society around. Amazing video as always Dr. Peterson!
There's no repairing the divide because it isn't the conservatives who've radically shifted. The left has been subverted by communism, thus there is no "dialogue" outside of what you can do to comply with their agenda.
Lol, there's no such thing as "adding humility". You are either humble or not, Peterson isn't humble, he just tries to pretend to be so for the reasons you brought up. leftism: Otherwise known as “progressivism” and even more inaccurately as “liberalism”, leftism is a term originating from the French Revolution of 1789, in reference to the political faction that opposed the French (so-called) king. However, the term is currently used in common discourse to describe those criminals who actively support (or at least tacitly condone) a host of OBJECTIVELY-WICKED ideologies and practices that contravenes dharma, such as non-monarchical governances and corrupt economic systems (particularly socialism, communism, fascism, and liberal democracies), egalitarianism, feminism, perverse sexuality (especially homosexuality, bestiality, and transvestism), multiculturalism, and the illegitimate abortion of innocent, defenceless unborn children. Cf. “dharma”. In the past decade or two, the mass media, especially the motion picture industry and television production companies, has been aggressively promoting all the above CRIMINAL ideologies and practices, helping to expedite the destruction of human society. Recently, large corporations have jumped on the leftist bandwagon (so to speak), in order to profit. As explicated in Chapter 11 of “A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity”, the state of being of any particular human (or any other animal for that matter) is due entirely to his or her genetic sequencing and his or her conditioning. Therefore, the explosion of the leftist/liberal mentality in recent decades, particularly in Western countries, has been caused by poor breeding strategies overtaking the more conservative tradition of mate-selection of previous centuries (and indeed, millennia). In other words, due to the fact that criminal behaviour (especially the deviant sexual acts mentioned above) has become increasingly more tolerated, condoned, and even GLORIFIED in most countries, there has been a proliferation of corrupt genetic codes within the wider human population. Unsurprisingly, the majority of leftists find it difficult to accept the fact that their criminal mentality is largely inherited (and of course, they are unwilling to acknowledge the blatantly-obvious fact that their ideologies and practices are intrinsically sinful, wicked, evil and immoral in the first place). It seems the consensus amongst leftist "intellectuals" is that every human mental trait is due entirely to one's environmental conditioning, rather than as a consequence of BOTH one's genetic sequence and one’s conditioning - a fundamentally-flawed assertion that cannot be scientifically-supported. This term was very reluctantly used in the chapter on feminism. I say “reluctantly” because it is unlikely that the term will perdure for many decades longer. This is simple logic, since, as clearly demonstrated in certain chapters in “F.I.S.H”, human civilization cannot survive with such leftist practices and ideologies in place. If you happen to be reading this Holy Scripture a century or more after its conception, you will probably be residing in a nation (as opposed to a country) ruled by a monarch, following the implosion of post-modern, decadent societies. So, either the term “leftism” will eventually become redundant and obsolete, or else, human civilization will devolve into a decadent, diseased state of existence similar to that of the prehistoric era, when the peoples of the world resided in caves or shacks, subsisting on whatever food can be sourced from the surrounding bushland. I trust that you who are reading these wise words will endeavour to influence your social circles to adhere to right-leaning ideologies, such as monarchical governance, an entirely free-market economy, sexual chastity, and all other virtuous principles. Fear not, for GOD is with you! P.S. As a general rule, it seems (at least anecdotally) that the farther left-leaning is a person, the more physically (and of course, psychologically) UGLY is that person. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to prevent leftists from propagating their mutant genes. 🤡
The other day I listened to my 17, 16 and 14 year old sons unapologetically gush about how much they like Jordan Peterson. It was a nice moment. I am a single mom of 5, because their dad developed progressive brain damage from repeated concussions and alcoholism, but I think maybe my kids will be ok.
I was the son of a single mom. Teach them truth and they will carry it with them even when they are being stupid. Embody that truth and they can never deny that living it is possible. Thats what my mom did and I will never stop thanking her for it. I saw her suffer so much with a beautiful Christian spirit and I'll never forget it.
I can't say it loud enough, this world needs Jordan Peterson. And many more like him. Sir, you have helped me see that I am not the only one that thinks the way I do. This is what our country is missing: a deep & extensive historical and philosophical knowledge & genuine passion for the thriving of western civilization, articulated in a concise and non-reactionary manner. Thank you Jordan for setting this example. God bless.
You can certainly hold that opinion, you’re totally valid there. However, in no way is it acceptable to state that JP has a “deep & extensive historical” knowledge. The man is a clinical psychologist that has been constantly derided for “preaching” in his lectures with falsehoods and mistruths. His philosophy provides a unique viewpoint, however his political leanings are no more coherent than the boogeymen he’s created. The man’s work pre- and post-coma has been inherently reactionary, and predicated on fighting a fabricated villain.
@Kyle You are absolutely correct. Dr. Peterson continues to amaze me and my admiration only grows with each encounter. This treatise gives me goosebumps of awe & hopefulness: I believe this is how America's founders would sound if we were gifted the ability to hear them speak. Please, everyone, shut your mouth, open your mind and truly LISTEN to the message.

Just the title has me so excited to listen carefully to Jordan. Shame I wasn’t able to see him in Manchester as my daughter was sick…Dr Peterson, you answered some fundamental questions on morality and meaning for me during my mid 20’s having been lost to drugs and alcohol since age 13 after growing up in an abusive home. I was drawn to anarchism, radical left dogma as it accurately reflected my life and I was under the delusion that supporting my peers would create a large enough problem that those in power would be forced to rectify it…anyway the painful and truly traumatic life I had lived up to that point changed upon my discovery of the good Dr all those years ago. He effectively plunged his hands into the filth and dragged me from my nihilistic mess onto a road. And told me which way value, meaning and personal responsibility was. I trusted him and began my journey and my god, where I may have beeen had I not found his words I shudder to think. And now this manifesto should be taken as dead serious. This is the first person to stick out their neck to be some kind of leader or organiser or the centre right. And what a man to have at the helm!
In some ways this is what I've pictured myself being - a person with civic pride that's discerning when it comes to politics; not isolated but carefully engaged, where I bow to no king or queen made of this earth. The family and community traditions create stability and a particular identity that may seem parochial to those unfamiliar with it.
It’s very hard to reverse liberal decline, because everyone will think their “rights” are being taken away when we begin reinstating traditions that kept society wholesome and organically unified. But when we take power again, we gotta do it anyway. Liberalism seeks to abolish moral standards, conservatism is when a society works to preserve its values and traditions. We must conserve
The political degradation is cyclical. Divisions are fabricated to keep economic dominance. Many laws have been made after revolutions. Many fortification.
Mr. Peterson At age 18 I thought I had the world, a wife to soon be, new home, new car, great job at age 19 but I wasn't happy. We were too young and she left me for another man a week from when I was planning to ask her to marry me. She had been unfaithful and convinced me I was the reason she was leaving. We were highschool sweethearts and she was the first female I was faithful to and took seriously. I couldn't make sense of her leaving and long story short I just wanted to die and got into some really bad stuff. I did end up choosing recovery after a flawed life taking attempt I came across a few of your seminars. You were the first man I ever heard talk about how important it is for a man to love themself. You helped me find myself. I actually ended up finally getting properly diagnosed with ADHD at age 28. I remember how good it felt to finally be able to understand myself and my mind better. I had to restart my life and it was so hard to watch younger friends get married and have children. I understand I'm blessed to just be alive. I just wanted to tell you thank you for being a voice that helped guide me out of the hell I was living in. You're an honest man just trying to make the world a bit brighter and helping the younger generations think. I always listen to your interviews. I hope you never change. Do you ever think that it's strange how many of the current "conservative" voices that we hear, are in fact, like yourself, previously born and bred Liberals or "left-wing" people, who have only upon reflection come to the realisation of tradition and conservatism? Do you ever wonder why we seem to rarely hear from voice who were born and bred and all along from a young age chose conservativism, who never had a particularly "liberal phase" as a teenager or young adult, who never blindly accepted anything about our liberalised modern world, from enlightenment principles, to modern authoritarianism in teachers and trust in science and it's supposed experts? I'm quite sure there are great merits in making our own mistakes and learning from them, I'm sure it's inevitable, but I'm also quite sure that there are those of us who have learnt from other people who came before them, and not made the same mistakes. Someone like Roger Scruton perhaps.
No matter how often, or how far, I stray. The Elementals return! You touched on them all in this manifesto! Again, thank you Dr. Peterson! God bless you!!🙏❤️

This is desperately needed. I'm at the beginning of the video but after laying out the idea of a conservative manifesto, Jordan Peterson is more than just a brilliant thinker.
@Young Dawah well I wasn't making a specific point so it would be vague I guess. But if you need clarification, the conservatives are a scattered bunch, they haven't been unified in decades not in any real way. So a Manifesto seems like it would be needed and who better to do it than Dr Jordan peterson? Does that clear things up? *Edit: Excuse any voiceover text typos, grammatical errors or misspellings in case you were planning on calling me out on that next
Dr. Peterson: I love your articulate poetic eloquence and enthusiasm in your endeavours to arrive at and communicate truth as you perceive it. It is a beauty to behold and a standard worthy of emulation. Once again thank you.
Superb summary, Jordan. I might consider adding three conservative values to the list at the risk of making it a bit longer. The three: gratitude, duty and obligation. My rationale? In a world in which responsibility, stewardship, and justice are paramount, one must be grateful to those who came before us for passing them to us, and one has a duty to pass them on to future generations through not just word of mouth but through actions. In a properly moral world, one has no choice in this endeavor; one is obligated to do it if one believes in these values. One has a duty to uphold them and an obligation to inculcate them in future generations. In other words, the list is a package deal; any value that is forgotten diminishes the whole. One does this not through words as much as through actions. Actions are the difference between those who are moral and those who pretend to be moral (in today's lingo, virtue signaling). Oh, and one should not diminish the challenge this places on citizens. These values were developed over time, and time tested, because we are not only human, we are human animals and understand that you can take the humanity out of the animal but you can't take the animal out of humanity. These values were hard won and easily lost again, as we are experiencing today, in the 21st century.
Values aren't developed, they are discovered and then elucidated, established, and fostered in a living, acting belief structure. But, one wonders why gratitude, duty, and obligation aren't on the list. I surmise it is because when one is humbly picking up and carrying the heaviest duty comprised in his or her list of moral obligations on a daily basis that the natural outcome is deep gratitude.
@@curtismrasmussen Yes, I agree, values are discovered, which includes the test of time. I think it is primarily an empirical process, as is most of the history of human technological progress up to very recently. We may be finally at the stage where technological progress is completely decoupled from the process that generates and maintains these values.
This is incredibly powerful. I will be re-listening to it again several times to really get a deep grasp on it. Thank you for consolidating these core values and virtues and explaining them so cohesively. This approach creates a foundation for us to unify within and a clear means of communication about what being of a conservative mindset stands for. It's a philosophical abstract - one that actually doesn't neglect its natural opposing attitude but doesn't just react to a 'problem'. More Bastiat / Kant in style than modern political philosophy.

I have been raised liberal by my mom, but always leaned towards conservative. And now I'm searching for a healthy balance between the two. Take-in what is useful and throw away what's outdated or outright wrong. If we are open for conversation and willing to learn from one another, division wouldn't be as prominent as it is now.
I was liberal for a long time. Learned very quickly that it’s a downward spiral. There is no medium ground. It doesn’t mean we have to be Christian conservative. But one side believes in very very different ways of society and society will fail the more stretched these conversations get. Libera perspectives function differently and will often off set the forward momentum of the conservative swing.

I am from Germany and, man, our government has lost its path, too, completely and absolutely. It feels like a cruel, cruel joke, but there is no waking up, only more bs the next day that makes even less sense and that plunges us even deeper into despair. But there IS common sense out there! Dr. Peterson thank you as always for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. This is a lot to digest, but I look forward to thinking on it. Have a great day everyone.
Jordan, I would make one recommendation. I hope you see it. Record a simplified part 1. I know you are trying to be precise, and that is important, however the level of precision you have chosen is going to close the door for many who would otherwise like to hear THIS message. I like to consider myself well educated, and able to parse the English language with expert skill, yet there are points at which I have difficulty understanding. If people like myself have some difficulty, imagine the masses that crave the sort of message you are giving, but are unable to understand it at this level. I think making another recording that simplifies, and speaks to a broader baseline of English comprehension would do much service to you and to those whom you are inviting to become responsible individuals and community members.
@@brando3342 Yes, poetry is not particularly good for political speeches or speeches in general. Off the top of my head, Churchill is quite literally the only person in history I can think of who was successful at combining the two in any significant way. Much of this I've heard in separate parts over the years so it's great its been structured into a whole piece. Revisiting what is meant by liberalism is a fantastic opportunity to reassess our currently social and political impasse. Jp calls us to this debate. We should thank him for this.
After a few centuries of evolving Liberalism, based upon enlightenment principles, it would seems that Liberalism means as such: you will be forced to be "free". In opposition, Conservatism may be seen as: you will not be allowed to disrupt "freedom" (as we know it). Would you rather be forced to take a leap of faith, or, not be allowed to stop others from taking a leap of faith?
Dr Peterson, I was about 25 minutes in on the subject of truth and I completely struck by the genius of your piece ! I would first request somewhere to find a written ( hard copy ) way to have this , as keep books and paper as to have tactile evidence of human thought , intellect and spirit that the digital world can not erase ! Also then I have never been to one of your lectures but at this time I believe I need deeply to attend you in person ! Not only does listening to you automatically improve my vocabulary that tends to slip existing in a rather “ dumbed “ down world , and then too listening and absorbing your words and passion give me the hope and needed resolve to carry on with my efforts to awaken what seems to me lazy minds around me while you let me realize I am not alone ! Thank you sir ! Thank you deeply ! Your thought and intellect is such as what have been the great minds of antiquity that I have studied intensely as a historian but I rarely rarely find in my travels and studies today ! I will find a way to attend your lectures and this I believe to absorb more of your intellectual energy that is so lacking our leaders and educators now ! Thank you again !
Thank God for you Dr. Peterson. I honestly believe this piece could be as influential to the future of our human civilization as the Declaration of Independence. Thank you 🙏
Great; it is hopeful to hear sane words from such an influential and famous person. It might be sometimes lonely for a thinker in this world where people are always shouting and never listening, telling people what to see while there is a giant splinter in their eye, but with patience the good will prevail. Almost every person is good; doing good has simply become a bit difficult in this greatly entangled world. You are an inspiration, Jordan Peterson!
Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms or supports one's prior beliefs or values. People display this bias when they select information that supports their views, ignoring contrary information, or when they interpret ambiguous evidence as supporting their existing attitudes. The effect is strongest for desired outcomes, for emotionally charged issues, and for deeply entrenched beliefs. Jordan is encouraging you to be ever more hypocritical and carve out your own sphere of contradictory and vapid logic so that you can deny logic on the basis of "I disagree and I need someone to explain why I'm right" He's discouraging critical thinking and actual internal logic (and climate action?). He's closer to a metaphysical shaman reading goat intestines than a contributor to intellectual discourse.
@@foookese Idk it seems to me that Jordan is a pretty critical thinker and he wishes people out of this whirlwind of dogmatic beliefs. The point you are making is a bit unclear to me and i taste a negative undertone. Also if you have understood the video in situ, you have heard Jordan say we shoulf put aside our hedonistic tendencies and look for the future and for our children which pretty much means we should care for climate. So i dont really see the point you are making
@@foookese Actually, I am checking out your account because I have lots of spare time atm and it seems your comment does not deserve a serious reply as you yourself seem caught in a quite severe case of confirmational bias. Before going into a circular argument, you cant skoop the ocean floor with a 5 foot pole and the youtube comment section is not the greatest place for intellectual discourse. I hope you find a good surrounding without too much confirmational bias
@@jelleoving98 You're right in saying I didn't come here for intellectual discourse and that I do have a confirmation bias. Of course I do and I should know better than come to a RUclips comment section. But I do try and challenge my bias every chance I can and I try to wring out the hypocritical stagnations in my ideology at the most frequent intervals I can. Im not perfect and i never will be. Im here because this video is more than a dog whistle, it is a dog black and white T.V, I came here because I feel bad. I'm not mad at you jelle or anyone else here in the comment section. I have a lot of sympathy for these people that daily wire and jordan peterson take advantage of. He's telling you "the values that have driven society so far are just" and that it's now a systemic and relatively new moral sensibility of "culture war and basically challenging old ideas" that's rotting our system from the inside. (First off it's a pretty convenient narrative when daily wire is funded by fracking billionaires). So to get back to these points, claiming that your beliefs are based on "the long lost eternal verities" is both incredibly vague because modern conservative beliefs are in no way disconnected from society's constant and everpresent tendency to hold onto what is comfortable, known and moderate, (this is something we have done for as far back as we see culture) then to call your beliefs 'basic eternal truths' says "we've already done it, we've solved society and anyone challenging it is disturbing the balance". So then society should have been perfect prior to this and challenging the abstract traditional values of an abstract type of conservative is bad for society and petty. Ideas should be challenged so that they can be improved. I hope you can come to see that this man's whole shtick is basically "the natural falacy" which ignores history and science all in favor of solidifying your already held beliefs and to declare them as "the natural and most correct state of things". He calls his detractors people on a desolate ideology and whatever. And I know this comes from his stagnant fascination with soviet propaganda. His idea of what socialism and communism are fully stagnated in mcarthyisms. Coming from someone who has actually read Marx, I denounce the soviet union, it is something that we can study and understand in its full nuance, not just call it evil and wipe our hands. It, like all other societies had a reason to exist and reflects both good and bad parts of humanity. To generalize it still, I think it was an interesting experiment in centralization and a planned economy and quickly turned out to be a disgusting monopolization of power that did lift a number of feudalistic states into the status of global super power. It was hyper capitalistic (just like The PPC), hence its outpouring of billionaires and oligarchic dynasties. "Communism", the biggest of boogeymen in a lot of "westerner's" minds, very simply defined by Marx is a society of one class, people given according to their need and received upon according to their ability. The vast vast vast majority of people like to feel wanted, they like to feel important because of what they do and who they are, leaving them poor and blaming them for their morals is counterproductive. The homeless, the addict, has value they want to add to society, to their community, maybe just to a few people, but is stigmatized and sees nothing but obstacles in their way to fulfilling their perceived social value. If every person were given an approximate equal starting point, what excuse would we have to blame one another? What use is it to oppress someone, via ideas or systems, when the system benefits all equally and that victim of attempted oppression maintains their autonomy, agency and franchise in society. That is not the system we live in today, despite most governments and actual institutions holding power maintaining conservative or barely liberal dogma. (For instance jordan peterson argues on a platform maintained by billionaires to decry the illigitamacy of the problems of those who have no or very little agency in society, saying they are very strong forces degenerating society but also inhabit the dimmest, most wretched corners of society and their moral degredation is why they cant reach success or find franchise in society. How can they be both the disenfranchised, bitching about not having agency, and be the authoritarian cabal responsible for society as it is?). How is not global capitalism and its endless and exclusive goal of increasing profit the most mundane and barren view of the life and planet we are given? Governments for hundreds of years have been trying to regulate all the potential and real ways that people are exploited through the endless quest for personal enrichment. The "free market" did not stop child labour, it encouraged it because you pay them less and they can do work that people of larger frames cannot, hence further specializing your assembly line. Reducing human suffering and enriching the human experience are goals of the human but not of capital, it is something we are in an ever shifting battle to enforce on the systems that dictate our society and daily lives. That's what the barren ideology of the left is to me: achieving and enabling compassion, trying to make it embodied in the system of our daily lives, so that system necessarily must scrub for its contradictions to adhere to the idea of creating a more perfect union of humans, and therefore must toss out these hills to die on. Why does the scientific method not apply to society? Because it's called 'the left' or 'the enemy' in whatever form so that we get stuck in these ANCIENT jordan peterson arguments that inevitably lead to logically and historically inconsistent fighting among people that could simply be 'your fellow human' I guess lastly to exemplify: his fixation on transgenderism and identity politics is the problem with those things. These are simply people trying to live their lives the best they know how (just like everyone in this comment section) if identifying as part of "the west" or having "traditional values" makes you comfortable, then do so. What those things mean are different to everyone and unless I'm an all seeing God, able to determine what is natural and what is degenerate from that point, I have no right to define those terms for you, even though I know they're abstract, and if I'm not able to see why you identify that way, I would still care to see the content of your character, because I know I can, have and will, find much in common with every human being out there.
When I was younger and my parents were conservative I used to ridicule them. Now I'm a grown up and realise what is important to me and important to have a well run society are the values of conservatism and I appreciate them.

I could support
A Conservative Party
(Centrist Right)
We already have one in Canada.
We Americans would be under great leadership if he were president, but Canada needs him just as bad .
@@tonywinton7949 I agree. I wish that conservatives could structure a national club that would function like a well oiled machine. Leaders could open chapters in every state and then down to the city level. Then each local organization could be guided by the state. Each state by the elected leaders. Then when action is needed, we can cooperate and be united. Voting to counter protesting would be effective. I would join as a volunteer for something like that. Dr. Peterson would make a good leader or advisor.
I needed a whiteboard and a whole hour to chart this out sentence by sentence and it was worth every second. We NEED this. Thank Dr J.

Yup, unfortunately we need him or someone else to parse it out into a bit more of a digestible form so the many many people out there won't just go glassy eyed and tune it out because they can't follow along...because the vast majority of people will be in this category and they are also the ones who will need to understand it the most.

Idiots aren't going to Harvard or Oxford(the people that attend those top level Universities are a tiny tiny minority)...there are a shit ton of people who don't have the IQ or ability or desire to be anywhere near that level of intelligence...I'm just saying there should be a version of this for that majority of people...not saying to get rid of what JP has done here, but to add to it, to give another option, an easier to digest option for that majority of people...they can always graduate up to then read/listen to what JP has given us here to fully take in everything.
All of the values outlined in “ a conservative manifesto” should be named “The manifesto for the living” I completely agree🙏🏽🌟🙌🏽
The Conservative label carries as much baggage as the Liberal one does.
As precise as he is with language, I’m a bit confused with his using Conservative, when finding common ground might be the goal.
Edited for clarity
@@Find-Your-Bliss- I agree...
Values have NO place in a truly conservative manifesto.
I would be interested in if there is a study looking at the type of childhood and teenage years a typically Republican or democract have. For example, if they were more a type to not bend with peer pressure, are they typically more likely to be a Republican and ones where they followed the crowd and peer pressure is a huge influence more likely democracts.
@@hippopond1 there is a study that saw conservatives tend to be more fearful than liberals. This could just mean that sticking or over relying on values and rules instead of questioning them is more conservative over being liberal. Like if you are truly god fearing, morality that religion instills aligns more with conservatives.
Reading the transcript while listening was extremely helpful. Pausing before each Tenet presented, and picturing for a moment the opposite of that Tenet is helpful in framing in your mind what is being said. Good luck! Took me a few times to fully focus on this intense discussion. Well said Dr.P. Thank you for your time and efforts on this topic.
If you have to listen to something several times to understand it, the speaker has failed to convey their ideas meaningfully.
How sad that you equate "good" with "easy to consume". Nothing worthwhile in life is easy.
Adding humility first is a genius move in my opinion, without it dialogue no longer can be established and dialogue, preferably uncensored, is the only way we can turn this horrible division of our society around.
Amazing video as always Dr. Peterson!
This. ❤
The guy's shtick is literally "you don't have a right to fix society until you fixed your own room, while himself having massive issues with his room (not pictured here because this one is paid by Daily Wire). Lectures heads of churches, CEOs, and everybody else, how humble.
Humility? When dealing with leftists? Christ, this country has no chance.
leftism:
Otherwise known as “progressivism” and even more inaccurately as “liberalism”, leftism is a term originating from the French Revolution of 1789, in reference to the political faction that opposed the French (so-called) king.

@@venicebeachsportsnetwork6677 Oh, and what’s your plan then?
You can certainly hold that opinion, you’re totally valid there.
However, in no way is it acceptable to state that JP has a “deep & extensive historical” knowledge. The man is a clinical psychologist that has been constantly derided for “preaching” in his lectures with falsehoods and mistruths. His philosophy provides a unique viewpoint, however his political leanings are no more coherent than the boogeymen he’s created. The man’s work pre- and post-coma has been inherently reactionary, and predicated on fighting a fabricated villain.
@Kyle You are absolutely correct.
It's unecissarily dense and convuluted, with many run-on sentences and a surprising lack of definition for basic abstract concepts. This is why it appears impenetrable. He simply needs an editor.
I’m going to have to listen to this several times to put together all the concepts put forth, but from what I see it is a clear explanation of the factors that attack and sustain a free society……as always brilliant.
If you have to listen to it several times to understand, it is not brilliant at all. Don't be fooled by jargon.
Thank you again Dr. Peterson. Your ability and eloquence in articulating the problems and chaos we are faced with constantly astounds me. You have helped me amazingly over the years. From South Africa.

It is difficult to encourage the “victim” mentality the necessity to accept personal responsibility.
The political degradation is cyclical. Divisions are fabricated to keep economic dominance. Many laws have been made after revolutions. Many fortification.
Left wing vs right wing. Same shit, same bird.
traditions where created from ignorant people… the world has evolved with the access of information and thus the “traditions” have obviously changed.
Is it really liberalism? Or is it just leftism . Classical liberalism is now neo conservatism
Mr. Peterson
At age 18 I thought I had the world, a wife to soon be, new home, new car, great job at age 19 but I wasn't happy. Its sick to see how some people try to ruin your name for being that voice for men.

So grateful I get to be alive at the same time as Jordan Peterson. He gives me hope in the human race.
Thank you for you work and service to the community.

I'd love to see this as a PragerU-style animated video, personally.
@@brando3342 I am not criticizing the work. I am only hoping he makes it more accessible.
Amen!
I’d like to hear the same manifesto spoken by Tammy.
@@brando3342 Yes, poetry is not particularly good for political speeches or speeches in general. Off the top of my head, Churchill is quite literally the only person in history I can think of who was successful at combining the two in any significant way. Great political orators of the 20th century, where surprisingly plain in language, and used physical emotion more than anything to convey the message.
Thank you, Dr Peterson for always being truthful and a full throated champion of integrity no matter what personal cost. It is rare (rather unfortunately) to see men of such character and strength. I'm now 55, but have followed you for a great many years and read your books. Your voice serves as a stabilizer in a chaotic world.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Each topic can be a platform for discussion among people who are willing to use their “little grey cells” as Hercule Poirot used to say. Thank you for your intellectual rigour, your commitment to high ground in all aspects of our modern life. Thank you also for giving family and marriage their rightful dignity and essential value in our society.

Everyone wanting to learn HOW to truly be conservative should give this a thoughtful listen.
Thank you for your thoughtfully crafted document and everything it represents.
I wonder if you might be open to making an open source version for contributions and refinement for your consideration if indeed such a thing is even possible.
Thank you Dr. Jordan for the living legacy you are building.
The most articulate man I’ve ever heard. I have so much respect for Jordan.
Hahaha
Possibly the only man you've ever heard then?
Nearly every sentence he speaks could be a subject of an hour's unpacking. His language is so potent. I hope to be as fearless as JP some day.
Because it's called 'the left' or 'the enemy' in whatever form so that we get stuck in these ANCIENT jordan peterson arguments that inevitably lead to logically and historically inconsistent fighting among people that could simply be 'your fellow human'
I guess lastly to exemplify: his fixation on transgenderism and identity politics is the problem with those things.
