I don’t understand why people are so critical. You know exactly what this is going to be about by just reading the title. He clearly states he by no means hates the vehicle, he loves it more everyday. He was just trying to be informative. I watched this bc I would love to purchase one and appreciate the info. Just bc some people think it’s a cheaper SUV, it’s still a lot of money to spend on something and you’re going to notice little things that bother you regardless of the price.
That's a Missouri license plate! Hello my fellow Missourian! Very helpful video on the Telluride. I'm really interested in this and the new Palisade. I plan to wait a few years to see what consumers are saying about them when they've got some miles before I buy one. Go Tigers!
Yes - that was an option added about 6 months or so after the vehicle was released. It wasn’t until they got enough feedback that they provided the EXP as an solution. We actually upgraded from the S to EXP once they made that available.
The glove box is a little small I do agree. The Kia Access app does take a long time when locking/unlocking or remote start. Other than that, I love everything else about this car
1) I put the main owners manual in the back of the vehicle in the compartment near the spare tire. The shortcut manuals easily fit in the glovebox, the large manual will be rarely needed 2) the reason why the app takes so long is so that its not using phone battery and resources to continually keep in contact- it's an "on demand process" that is much more efficient - more like a minute (the key fob would have limited range whereas the app is unlimited 3) your'e right, it's not the screen it is the camera, but given the wide angle it uses higher resolution would require an expensive lens, which probably isn't justified for its intended use. I have no problem at night with the back-up camera (no worst than any other vehicles) 4) I totally agree with the lights (I have the EX trim). I'm trying to find out how much it would cost for them to replace those headlight assemblies with the SX trim headlight assemblies- probably won't be worth it. 5) I agree about the captains chairs also- weird you can get that on the "S" model, but not on the EX. Good review even though I don't completely agree with everything, you still brought up good points. A couple that I would like to add would be 1) foglights (not even an option on the EX) 2)rain sensing wipers- would be nice. I have to say I love the vehicle though- really impressed
Great comments. I love the vehicle too. No issues with people disagreeing with me. We will all have different quirks about vehicles and no one person is really right or wrong. Facts can be right or wrong. Opinions can be based on fact or personal preference.
1: the owners’ manual goes on the other side of the glovebox. 2: use your key. 3: did you expect a DSLR as a rear camera? 4: LEDs are common in UPPER TRIMS of competitors. just like any other midsize CUV, get the up-level trim for LEDs. 5: captains’ chairs are generally not available in base/lower-trim models. again, you want captains’ chairs, get a higher trim.
Not sure if the option was available at the time this video was made, but the EX does have a premium package option for $1500 which includes 2nd row captains chairs and 20 inch wheels... I'm actually on the other side with my needs/requirements and wish the SX had a bench seat option. We have a new baby who would obviously have 1 captain chair permanently claimed for himself, which means if grandma and grandpa want to come along for a ride, someone (probably my wife) will have to ride in 3rd row. So our options are to "settle" for the EX, or travel to Canada and buy the Canadian version of the SX which does come with bench seat, and jump through some hoops/money to import it. Or we could wait and hope Kia eventually offers bench seat for the US SX... :(
I am looking at buying one. My biggest gripe based on tons of research is the lack of memory seats for all trims EXCEPT SX. Imagine that? Memory seats? Unless you get the top of the line SX trim, it will not come with it. I have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL (mid trim) that I bought for about $33K. It has it. The Telluride is nearly $40K and it doesn't have it? Cmon Kia. You can do better than that.
My 2019 ford ranger has the same issue with the app. It’s not only the Kia. Most brands that have apps that allow you to remote start through your phone are just not quite advanced enough to have instant response when it comes to start/stop or lock/unlock.
Back when this was filmed - the EX did not have that as an option. However, videos like this one and feedback from consumers did cause Kia to add the option about 8/9 months into the 2020 model year.
hello. thanks for sharing your honest thoughts. I'm considering purchasing a Telluride SX but I have the opposite complaint as you. I am frustrated that the SX only comes in 7 seat config with captains chairs. My use case will have me sleeping in the Telluride on camping trips often and the bench seating 2nd row would be better for my setup and I want features that only come on the SX trim but I can't get bench 2nd row seating. That just frustrates me to no end. I can't go a trim lower as there are features from the SX trim I need. So it's really frustrating me. Enjoy your Telluride. It seems like a great value for the money.
I have the same issue, I have to have a bench in the 2nd row and mad its not offered on the SX. The Pilot and Ascent are the same way, can't get a bench in the 2nd row on the top trims. I am waiting to see if the Palisade offers a bench in the top trim.
@@romanopeterj I hear ya. I am considering the Ascent as well. I'm sorry to tell you but I don't believe the Palisade is offering bench seating for their top trim either. Very frustrating.
Totally Dad now that they added the option for the EX to also have captains chairs I do think the EX is the best bang for the buck trim. But obviously within budget, which is different for all of us.
We just purchased the EX model in Gravity Grey yesterday. Just waiting for it to be delivered in a week. We test drove the LX and S models, and they were really nice; however, I agree that the EX is really the sweet spot for this SUV. As far as the lights, I was surprised as well that Kia decided to go cheap in this regard. Especially since you can buy LED retrofit kits for other SUVs for around $60 a bulb. However, with that said, there are so many other quality components on this vehicle (especially in the interior) that I'm willing to make some small sacrifices. After looking at a similarly featured Ford explorer, VW Atlas, and Honda, we just couldn't find this level of quality for the same price. Thank you for posting the video. It's good to see real user reviews.
@@ManicMarkets Yes, it looks like you did some comparison shopping as well. I really think Kia is now a game changer in what they are able to offer for the price. Heck, the Telluride even has a few features that a Volvo XC90 is lacking and that's a 60,000 car. I enjoy your videos, hope to see more.
@@NA-du5vm yeah. I love locking glovebox. Both our Fords missing that. I have to drop a small pistol safe into the center console of my f150. Plus, there's a perfect place where i can perfectly fit the manual into inside the trunk of sonata hybrid. I believe they were designed like that other than into glovebox.
The you get what you pay for mentality just kicked in. I bought an EX and love it but like the reviewer said, the SX seems like a lot more in money but not a lot more in features that I would want to pay for that is. I loved the captain’s chairs until I saw the Ex’s bench. The only option I wanted for my EX was the Harmon Kardon stereo system and, not as crucial, the 360 surround camera. I am not interested in AWD system so the SX wasn’t going work out either.
Not to shabby if you ask me. I own a 2019 Avalon Hybrid Limited it has a door unlock feature via phone app. I think it takes longer to activate, My service book fits well in my glove box but I keep it in my home office and just use my iPhone to access any info to keep more cargo space inside my vehicle. I had a 74k Ram 2500 Laramie longhorn with a very grainy backup camera in the dark as the night vision went out at 37k miles go figure, and not to mention the incandescent headlights as it was the 2012 version, best they had at the time. I also had the 2013 Durango R/T for my wife during the same era and by looking at your captains chairs they look much more plush. I really think you have a winner there. I was noticing you have quite a lot of ground clearance as well just one of the things that caught my eye. I think I am going to get my wife a Telluride or a Palisade. We have a Hyundai dealer in town. Enjoy that gem!
Re: headlights Projector is the lens type, you can add LED bulbs for like $20. It may even already have them. Agree on captains chairs, $4k is absurd for one option that can't be easily changed after the fact. On the camera, give it a wipe with glass cleaner and see if that helps. May just be some dust on the rear making it grainy.
Done all the above. not sure about the LEDs yet. My understanding is that LEDs do not work well in project lens unless they are designed to be used in a projector lens. I'll personally wait until I know for certain they fit. But you are right, some of the options are things that i plan to add or address aftermarket. I think it is the lack of light coming from the reverse lights. Poor lighting making causing issues with the camera view.
@@ManicMarkets Yeah, some are pretty bad but LEDs kind of need a projector so oncoming traffic isn't totally blinded. There's some really good bulbs out there for cheap, I have some Hikari LEDs in my Hyundai Santa Fe (projector lens) that were about $35 on Amazon and work great. Think they are 9600 lumens. Also have had a great experience with 10,000 lumen led bulbs from Lightening Dark (around $50 on Amazon). Give something like that a try. I downgraded from aftermarket HID and those pairs really worked great.
This actually made me realize my choice to buy the S was the right one. For a lease, 250$ more per month for the SX is ridiculous. None of the reasons you listed here are a big deal at all. They may be to you and thats all good, for me, the S is just fine :) thank you for the vid.
glad I could help. The S really is nice and meets all the minimum needs. Everything above and beyond is just paying for comfort. Nothin wrong with that, but you can also invest the difference and be better of financially in the long run.
Just picked up my S today. I bought what I felt I needed. No more no less. It's funny my only complaint so far is that owners manual and the glove box. Just took it out and no longer a problem.
we just bought one yesterday. we were on our way to the jeep dealership to buy a wrangler unlimited and we just happened to see one and i told my wife i seen one last week but i figured i couldn't afford it. she looked it up online real quick and said "we probably could" lets stop and look at one.....
1. wipe clean the rear view camera lenses once a while 2. buy a pair of aftermarket LED bulbs (so some research and buy from amazon or ebay) and replace those stock halogens with LEDs. very easy
I also have a 2020 Telluride S and overall I love it and I am extremely pleased with my decision. My list of complaints are: you cannot permanently disable the auto engine shutoff feature, no standard roof rails or trailer hitch. I get that they want you to pay for the towing package but no standard roof rails is disappointing. I also think the strip of black moldings below the doors are hard to keep clean.
I think the responses are a bit harsh in the comments. He's just pointing out what he doesn't like specifically about what he got. He's not chastising anyone for it. I ordered the SX trim and watched this to see what I may run into. The glove box is very small. I agree. But I think most every other issue won't give me any trouble. Everyone needs to stop defending the car like it's their kid. Relax. They are just opinions. All of his information is factual so you just decide if those things bother you or not. Man. Everyone is ready for a fight.
Great review. I actually need a bench in the second row because our dog likes to sit between our kids, and the SX does not offer a bench in the second row. The EX seems like a good option but wondering about the quality of the rear drive camera as we live in the city and do a ton of parallel parking. Also, wondering how the stereo is in the lower trims versus the SX Harmon Kardon. I have a leased GMC Acadia Denali that is up in August, and curious if the Palisade offers a bench in the top trimlines.
Thanks My'Ride I think we needed some constructive criticism of this car. Most of the review out now are from the prospective of the dealer or journalist who are being put up in fancy hotels by Kia in Telluride, CO. Not to mention their reviews are all of the Top trim level. Being that the Telluride is a 1st Gen vehicle, the more information out there from all prospectives is very well appreciated. Especially since Im considering it for my my family. The backup camera is something I will check out. It's federal law that all new cars have them in the US now so it'd be interesting to see if they cut cost here. I don't really care for captains chairs though so this is not a big deal. Those LED would have been nice as well, but probably where they decided to draw the line. Thanks again for all the info.
Everything is available on the aftermarket that you want on or in your Telluride. Check out Scotty Kilmer's video(s) about aftermarket products. Also, ask the parts Mgr. at your Kia Dealer, most of the time they have or know of a reasonable solution to such requests. Bench seat replacement for Captains chairs,2nd. row, is a $100.00. K.M.A. upgrade, clearly stated in Kia Motors america brochures and publications related to the Telluride. Perhaps a little Research, homework, due diligence was in order before giving KIA a black eye !. It can be very difficult, (and in many cases has been) for manufacturers and Dealership Sales people to overcome product resistance that get's blown out of proportion by information entering the public discourse as facts from a reliable source when it is neither. all the car Manufacturers in the U.S. Market do the same types of research to grow their particular market share, be profitable enough to continue the requisite R/D, and try and find ways to outshine the competition whilst keeping costs under control. The Telluride/Palissade are an amazing achievement on several levels, recognized and awarded within the automotive Industry. Peter Schrier and Albert Bierman are extremely proud of their respective teams, the years of hard work, market research and product planning are paying off. And there is a lot more coming from Hyundai/Kia in the Industrial disciplines, amazing things, "fourth Industrial Revolution" things. Julian.
HI Diane - The EX has never had a bench seat as an option. The S has a $100 option to add a bench seat, but I wanted an EX with captains chairs. Not an option. Odd that the lower trim level can have either seating choice, but not in the upper trim levels. SX or bust if you want capt chairs in that situation. So I bought down instead of adding an option. And as i said, I would have paid an extra $1000 for captains chairs in an EX. Kia did a great job with the Telluride. But that doesn't mean that my thoughts aren't valid. Point is, after incentives competition is fairly priced. When you start talking close to 40+ for a vehicle its all about the little details.
I took delivery of my S AWD on the 5th. I put the manual in the area under the cargo area floor. Problem solved. Coming from a 2015 CR-V for $32,000 the Telluride is a steal. You can not find a better deal for the money. The real bargain hunter should look at the base model. Sure you won’t get a sunroof or larger wheels and tires but if you want a large vehicle and not a van, the Telluride is a hard value to beat.
I work for the company that makes those headlights. MY job is to stress test those headlights. It's good to know that your only complaint is they're not L.E.D. Thanks for the review, and thanks for buying KIA. 👍
Headlights definitely not bright enough. I have the S trim and been researching how to make the headlights brighter. Contemplating to buy a proper light pattern brighter LED replacement bulb from Headlight Revolution. I have a 2016 MX5 Miata with brighter LED's, an old 2005 Cayenne S with brighter Xenon Projectors. I would've much rather save and get cloth seats and non-powered seats for brighter headlights any day. Car companies are smart and have to make money, so you have to buy the highest model just to have brighter lights. Money over safety...what a bummer.
Worst headlights I have ever driven behind. You company screwed up the focal point in these headlights. The light does not refract properly and form a focal point. Huge engineering screw up. What's worse is your refusal to own up to the problem and correct it. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the headlights as poor and inadequate (their worst rating). The headlights are so bad that the Lane Keep Assist and AEB w/Pedestrian detection quit working at night because the car can't see the road either. Great crossover during the day, but Unsafe at any speed at night.
1. Same issue on my sonata hybrid. I ended putting manual in the trunk, and get a usable lockable glovebox. 2. Depending on where you parked at (whether it get good lte signal) and your phone internet speed. I seldomly use it except for the remote start. Why do you need a speedy unlock or lock when you are outside the range of your key? 3. I tested both s and ex. And to me, I'll go with sx for the 360 camera. But I'll go for ex if I have to choose between the two. S is just a show to bystanders with useless 20 inch wheel and low-end interior equipment. I'd rather get that large screen and cooled seat and a better suitable 18 inch wheel. The backup camera is more likely to be the screen issue because the one on ex is very nice. 4. LED bulb is cheap. You can go get a pair bright csp bulb for less than 100 and make it brighter especially they work well on projector lights. I replaced mine on the sonata hybrid and they are better lighted than the higher trim HID. 5. I agree. Don't know why EX don't offer Capt chairs. Also, my wife like the heart shape wheel better than the black one on sx. But there's no wheel option. all wheels are unique for it's class.
The headlights on the LX, EX, S got poor rating with IIHS. Undrivable on curvy roads. My wife's Telluride EX has the worst headlights I've ever seen on a vehicle. Worse than cars from the 90's. Who cares about features when they can't even meet basic safety standards for headlights for a 2020 SUV. IIHS rating for headlights in POOR = Dangerous.
Check the lens on ur camera. I had the same issue with my Stinger GT1. Not only did the camera have a small clear plastic cover for shipping but after u remove it u have to clean it. My views are crystal clear now.
For $35K, VW will gladly give you reflector halogen headlights; so (well done) halogen projectors are perfectly fine (and cheaper to replace) + I don't think you really need fogs with projectors. Highly considering a telluride or Ascent to replace our cx-5. Cx-9 is a possibility, but 3rd/4th on the list.
I'll bet there'll be a big number 6 when it comes time for you to trade it is in. I'm a wholesaler and unfortunately Kia and it's corporate cousin Hyundai quality has definitely improved but their resale value Still remain pretty mediocre. I can't say did I would have ever recommended buying this vehicle especially and its first product model year but at least they come with good warranties. Good luck and I'll be checking back to see how its long-term reliability hopes up. It is a beautiful SUV and I would be proud to be seen in one.
When I first saw the Telluride, I instantly wanted to trade in my Explorer. Buttttt at the end of the day, this is still a Kia so I’m gonna wait at least a year to see what the resale value looks like. Also, it’s never that smart to get a new model when it first launches because you have no way of knowing how reliable the vehicle is. Patience is a virtue, but I kinda wish I didn’t know better cuz this car looks awesome!
Goodgirl_ I absolutely love my Kia Sportage. I had never owned a foreign brand before but I needed a bigger vehicle. Purchased it for 17k 2 years ago. The resale value today 17k. I only owe 12.
@@jeseverage-allen570 You might wanna review your loan terms if you've been paying a car note for two years and have only paid off $5K of the principal- sounds like your lender is taking most of your payment as interest. The only way I would buy a Telluride is if it was a SX, but I'm not convinced a Kia is worth a $41K loan.
We we're going to order an EX and get what we want for $37,090 (includes shipping). Low and behold one just the same as what we wanted came into our Kia dealership, sticker price was $50,055 not including dealer and doc fees. Kia really thinks they can up mark a car like that because it's so new good thing we have time to wait not falling for that.
Yeah - I've been seeing stories of dealers marking up models - with the SX getting a "market adjustment" of up to 12k. That's a complete mess and greedy in my opinion. I'm a capitalist, but what kind of goodwill are you generating on a new vehicle by marking up your customer's ride like that. Not to mention - more are being made everyday. Frankly, you could fly to a state like mine (MO) and buy one for under MSRP, then drive it home.
With regards to changing Headlight assemblies from your "S" or "EX" trim to using the SX trim headlight assemblies, the Kia dealership gave me a rough estimate of like $2500 when you take into account the cost of the assembly, the cost of the bulbs and the install fee. I'm too cheap for that.
Yes - and I think the LED bulbs that you can buy to replace will also work well. I'm waiting to see what bulbs different owners try to see if anyone settles in on a particular brand as working well. Those LED replacement bulbs can flicker, not align well in the project, etc. better to wait and see .
You're wrong my friend my ex has captain seats.... it's called the premium package. And if your gonna buy a telli dont buy anything under a ex. S MODEL AND LX MODEL ARE A HUGE DOWNGRADE FROM THE EX AND SX!! spend the extra $$$ and get the better model well worth it.
I’m reviewing the Telluride this week. I have to say a couple of things, is your camera clean? I was in the Telly and it’s gorgeous! I can’t believe that you’re complaining about that huge glove box. *silly* Most SUVs don’t have captains chairs on the second row until you get into the higher trims. That’s normal. And it has it’s own app! Awesome! The Telluride is an excellent vehicle! We love it at Yonkers Kia in New York!
Feel free to watch my video on the things that I love from the playlist. My reviews are intended to be objective and this is a longterm vlog for the Telly
The seat count issue, I agree with. Usually the higher trims have captain chairs. The LX and S should be the 8 seaters, with the EX and SX with the captains chairs. The EX should have heated second row seats, and fog lights, with the SX having both the heated and ventilated as it does. Saying all of that, I would rather the SX with Prestige package anyways. I love those black rims, the design pattern of the seats (1st and second row), and the extra features.
#1 Leave that big ass manual at home.#2 I just use remote start. Lock unlock when i get in or out.. #3 That camera view looks a little cheap.#4 & #5 I agree..come on Kia.
You can buy LED bulbs, but those typically aren't designed to fit into a projector lens. Overall, the lights work well so it isn't a deal killer. But to do it right I think it is a bigger retrofit than many think. On the S the second row is not heated. You need the SX or EX for that. But only the SX will have captains chairs.
I totally understand. It's not just about changing bulbs. I'm just anal about uniformity. LED daytime running lights accompanied with LED headlights just looks/feels better to me. The captain's chairs is definitely a must have for my family. Unfortunately it's not available on the EX trim. Thanks for the response!! Good luck with the vehicle and please continue to upload!!
@@m11sanmanable - I'm with you. The two different tones coming from the lights is kinda blah. I might try a bulb swap just to see how it works. I'll post a video if i do to share the results.
@@ManicMarkets If you decide to change your halogen bulbs to LED's, take a look at this video. ruclips.net/video/DeaDrH0gXZk/видео.html He goes in depth about the different types and styles of LED'S.
The headlights on the LX, EX, S got poor rating with IIHS. Undrivable on curvy roads. My wife's Telluride EX has the worst headlights I've ever seen on a vehicle. Worse than cars from the 90's
Prices for the Telluride have been even higher I my area due to demand. Imho price is too high for what it is....a Kia/Hyundai. I'd say lease it and enjoy the initial quality. Then return it at end of term.
Ok I ask can KIA or will KIA let me purchase the second bench row for the SX or dual sunroof on EX? In the second row is the tracks different for captain chairs vs bench?
I also want 2nd row bench on SX, or, dual sunroof + 2nd row heating on EX. I will pay for it as an option. 2nd row heated bench is must for my family, a deal breaker without it.
I've always thought the backup cameras on Hyundai and Kia were one of the more clearer ones on the market.. my 2017 sonata has an amazing backup camera... never had an issue using it at night.
During the day it is fine. At night it isn't bad if you are in a well lit area. But when your depending on the rear lights for the vehicle to project light the night vision isn't great. This might also just be that the rear backup lights do not project a strong enough light to let the camera do it's job.
The auto start is weird with this. The car senses the key fob and basically turns the car off before I can pack my two little ones in. Very disappointing!! My wife and I toss our keys in the seat to keep it running. NOT the best hack, ESP for the price! FIX it KIA
This is the dumbest post I have ever seen. My wife has an SX...and after driving it for a week talking our daughter to school in the morning...I traded my 2017 Tacoma (which I loved) in an a telluride EX...I have never been happier with a car purchase...
@@ManicMarkets probably because they're selling more SX models than planned because the content is so much better than than the EX. If they offered the SX with a bench option, their seat issue would probably go away, certainly lessen.
I wish they put the 20 inch wheels on the EX, your’s look great on the S trim. Not sure why they are only 18s when you’re spending more. Also the black only rims on the SX are hideous, I wish they were silver alloy like the others. Guess I’m to picky.
My Mercedes has the same lag issues with their remote access smartphone app. Hell, MB's app actually went offline for 2 months. So take a slight delay in stride.
I have the exact as you except white interior. I hate the fact they didn't do led lights and the camera is not good. Agree. I'm not sold yet on mine. Maybe when I'm at week 2 will be. Oh and comfort mode is useless. The steering is too wobbly.
Great points, both. I actually really love the vehicle and that isn't being biased by being an owner now. You can check out my five things i love video for that. I actual do most of my driving in ECO mode. However, I think most people on the forums say they keep it in sport.
Okay not trying to tear you down but which edition did you get? And by comparison, cost/quality vs similar cars in the segment The only model of this I even considered was the prestige edition which at 47k is is pricey but the value is impressive
It is an impressive vehicle all around - hence why I bought it. However, those items I pointed out are available standard in almost all the competitors vehicles. However, the safety features is where Kia is a current standout in my opinion. Having those features is an area where the value comes in.
@@ManicMarkets where they are standard, what is the cost? For example a Tahoe or Explorer have the equipment but you are paying more for those brands. I personally have been a Kia owner for 10 years now, and I can be honest and say they got me. The money i save to get what I want plus reliability vs the competition is simple economics. I had a soul over 150, a sorrento over 160, and currently have another sorento at 110, but the family has outgrown the car and I've been looking at my options. 47k for the prestige edition the competition doesnt come close
Here for all the complaints about the lower trims not having LED's and how cars like the Corolla and Mazda's having them on lower trims. How about the fact that Hyundai/Kia were the first to offer many safety features on all trims, how about Hyundai/kia being one of the first to offer Apple CarPlay AND Android Auto. Mater of fact does Toyota even offer that yet on any of its trims, and Mazda just added it. You cannot get a better list of features on ANY VEHICLE of this class as you do on the entry trims of the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade. Don't worry though, you're favorite car Manufacturers will copy off Hyundai/kia eventually as they been doing now for the last couple years. So in the next 2 years you should be offered what Hyundai/kia has been offering for years.
I completely agree about the LED lights. Manufacturers like Mazda has them standard on every model. Even the Toyota Corolla has standard LED headlights
The Toyota Highlander doesn’t even get LEDs on any trim level(Although the new one just announce will probably get LEDs). The LED headlights should at least be standard on the EX though.
Nicely equipped for $35K+ , In Canada it will probably be closer to $40K. The headlights I would say get after market ones . The manual in the glovebox , yeah it takes up to much space in my Elantra GT . Enjoy your Telluride , it’s not in Canada just yet .🇨🇦
Since you mention the app: I cannot figure out how long the included UVO service is and how much it will cost after the included service time. Any idea? My dealership had no idea when I asked them.
I don't know either. my dealer couldn't tell. I actually suspect it may become free indefinitely. Why - the terms and conditions link to a web page that would give you that information. But the link is broken and so no way to check on cost. Then if you use the kia chat feature on the web site and ask it what the cost of the UVO services are, it says it is a free service. Although I wonder if it is only talking about specific features. I'll be patient and hope i'm not disappointed.
I finally heard from Kia USA via Twitter DM. Only first year is included for free. That's a bummer. They still haven't told me the price after the first year.
Thanks Tim. Frankly, I think we both know these are the only 5 things that stand out as an issue. And none of them were ever close to being a deal breaker. I think the problem for the backup camera the more I think about it could be the lack of light output from the reverse lights. Are streets in some areas are not well lit and the reverse lights may not be bright enough to aid the camera.
I think there's something to be said if "five things I hate" are all VERY minor, borderline non-issue for most people. In the case of the app, it has nothing to do with the Telluride, but Kia itself, so this is really four things that bug you about the Telluride and one thing you hate about Kia.
Yeah - I'd agree to some extent, but I once used the Voyo which turns a dumb car into a smart car. It locked and unlocked doors fast then this app does. Plus it doesn't do any background refresh so I have to first refresh it since it might think the doors are unlocked. Then after it updates to reflect doors are locked it then lets me remote start. It's almost where it needs to be and I am very hopeful they clean things up.
Waled121 - I think it’s valid that there should be a hardware remote start as an option, just like on the Kia Sorento and even the Sportage. This is a rare case of Kia getting ahead of itself with technology over the customer’s convenience. Especially since this borrows the Kia Stinger’s keyfob design and that vehicle has hardware remote start.
dalex7777 We went to the dealer this past weekend and we’re putting in two orders for our Telluride (His & Hers). I pulled back on mine for two reasons, I’m leaving in three months for 6 months and no remote start. The remote start was me nitpicking, but I honestly feel like by the time I’m back next year, they’ll come around to adding remote start. On the bright side, we ordered my wife’s Telluride.
So what is this app thing? We are looking at suvs and wondering what all this is about? You use an app to unlock it? I don’t think I want a smart car. Which suvs are dumb?
Subaru has a lot of good safety features. I think the big difference is that with Kia even the lower trim levels get the same or more safety features than the ascent. In the lower Subaru trims you only get some of the features as an option or not at all.
I'd say about 8 seconds. But honestly, no chance to really try since I do more urban and city driving. need to find a spot where I don't have to fight traffic to really give it a go.
$10,000 above sticker in Southern California today. No joke. They would only come down $1,200.
It's a miracle that a $35,000 suv actually has a V6 engine, you should celebrate every night with a stars in the night sky worship ritual dance
That's a Missouri license plate! Hello my fellow Missourian! Very helpful video on the Telluride. I'm really interested in this and the new Palisade. I plan to wait a few years to see what consumers are saying about them when they've got some miles before I buy one.
Go Tigers!
You can get EX with premium package and that has captin chairs
5: captains’ chairs are generally not available in base/lower-trim models. again, you want captains’ chairs, get a higher trim.
this is a four-minute video complaining about not having features that come on high-level trims, by a guy who didn’t buy a high-level trim.
*or things that are present in literally every vehicle on the planet.
For the 2021 Model year you can get Captain's chairs with the EX if you order the Premium Pachage ($1695 - which is less that upgradoing to the SX)
My 2019 ford ranger has the same issue with the app. It’s not only the Kia. Most brands that have apps that allow you to remote start through your phone are just not quite advanced enough to have instant response when it comes to start/stop or lock/unlock.
Man theres nothing to hate about that car. Plain best 3 row suv for the money

The EX has captain seats
Thanks for this. I’m on the fence between the S or EX, monthly payment has the final say
Check out the upload I just did for the 5 things we love.
The highest SX trim is still cheaper than most of it's competitors... So just go for the higher trim!

some people cant afford the highest trim, some and competitors have more nicely loaded lower trims

@@dearbulls ?
Thank you - check out the five things we love video if you haven't already.
I hate the exhaust tips. Should be on both sides.
Re: headlights
Projector is the lens type, you can add LED bulbs for like $20.
Also, same thing with reverse lights. $10 and can make a world of difference from stock.
Maybe someone already said it. But the EX does come with a 2nd row bench seat available.
we just bought one yesterday. we were on our way to the jeep dealership to buy a wrangler unlimited and we just happened to see one and i told my wife i seen one last week but i figured i couldn't afford it. she looked it up online real quick and said "we probably could" lets stop and look at one.....
You can get Captain chairs in the EX! They are just hard to find......
1. wipe clean the rear view camera lenses once a while 2. buy a pair of aftermarket LED bulbs (so some research and buy from amazon or ebay) and replace those stock halogens with LEDs. very easy
You got a point dude. Because of that...I always go for highest trim. Long termly..it's worth it every penny....
Jake Lee Exactly Correct
I feel that they should let you choose 7 seat or 8 seat option regardless of which trim you pick!
I agree, it does not seem to hard to design a different seating style option on a universal seat track.
Agree.. The Subaru Ascent offers captain's chairs in all but their base trim.
Love the style/design of this Telluride way better though.
They do. It's like an under $200 option. I ordered an S with the bench.
They do it's called the premium package..... my ex has captain seats it's called special order....
I have a leased GMC Acadia Denali that is up in August, and curious if the Palisade offers a bench in the top trimlines.
only sx has 4 cameras. I doubt there's a difference between camera quality for lower trims. No 2nd row bench option for sx.
I love these true owner videos - thank you for taking the time the shoot this!
Thanks again for all the info.
welcome. glad I could help.
It can be very difficult, (and in many cases has been) for manufacturers and Dealership Sales people
to overcome product resistance that get's blown out of proportion by information entering the public discourse as facts from a reliable source when it is neither.
all the car Manufacturers in the U.S. Market do the same types of research to grow their particular
market share, be profitable enough to continue the requisite R/D, and try and find ways to outshine the competition whilst keeping costs under control.
The Telluride/Palissade are an amazing achievement on several levels, recognized and awarded
within the automotive Industry.
Peter Schrier and Albert Bierman are extremely proud of their respective teams, the years of hard work,
market research and product planning are paying off. And there is a lot more coming from Hyundai/Kia
in the Industrial disciplines, amazing things, "fourth Industrial Revolution" things.

My owners manual moved to the back too.
I work for the company that makes those headlights. MY job is to stress test those headlights. It's good to know that your only complaint is they're not L.E.D. Thanks for the review, and thanks for buying KIA. 👍
Perry Maxwell How well do these headlights do under stress (especially in hot weather or colder temperatures)?
welcome, they really do well for a halogen bulb. I was pleasantly surprised.
Money over safety...what a bummer.
sx hightrim is LED
Why buy a basic model expecting all the options???
It's no the basic model - and I am comparing it to competitors in a similar price range. Those options are available in the same class and MSRP range.
Proud to be seen in a Kia? Who are you kidding?
@@ManicMarkets that's a great idea but driving a lease or even if financed vehicle back to Alaska might be another production.

Sir, since you have owned the vehicle a while now how do you like it? Any long term concerns? Would you buy again?
Cool. We review alot of vehicles at several dealerships. We will be at Yonkers Kia checking it out this week.
Does Ex come with 20 inch black alloy wheels?
Nothing is perfect. Thanks for balancing the many good with few bad.
Thank you for understanding my intent.

Both of us might need are insurance policy... not taken it with me either.. just sayin..
I bought an EX, it's perfect.
Agreed!
How many Air bags in EX ?
Kia dealer in our country provid it with 2 air bags only!! But the GT line full Air bags package.
Does the S model trunk open with the remote?
I'm definitely getting the Prestige Package
Can you buy LED headlights to replace the Halogen on the aftermarket? Also, are the backrow heated as well??

FIX it KIA
We have a S model with 8 seats. Good luck finding higher models. Most dealers can't keep any model levels. You can pre order and wait a few months
Got an EX with 8 seats. Had contact with a salesman at Kia and they let us know when they had EX's in stock.
This is the dumbest post I have ever seen. My wife has an SX...and after driving it for a week talking our daughter to school in the morning...I traded my 2017 Tacoma (which I loved) in an a telluride EX...I have never been happier with a car purchase...
I have to ask....does it have ample power...I understand it isn't a sport vehicle but still wondering about power.
... Adequate yes, ample is a matter of opinion. Overwhelming, no.
I cant figure out my tailgate. My remote has a tailgate button but doesn't open. Is it not automatic?
LED might last longer before burning out, but HID are still brighter and shine further ahead. I'll take HID over LED any day!
I might upgrade the lights in the future. But the stock lights aren't soo bad that they need to go.
Opposite issue: I like the vehicle, would consider the SX, but want a bench, not captain's chairs.
True - Funny thing is I understand they are suffering from not having enough captains chairs.
@@ManicMarkets probably because they're selling more SX models than planned because the content is so much better than than the EX. If they offered the SX with a bench option, their seat issue would probably go away, certainly lessen.
... Why not a palisade then, or is it the same issue?
Those 5 things going to equal up to 10 when that Palisade comes out.
I wish they put the 20 inch wheels on the EX, your’s look great on the S trim. Not sure why they are only 18s when you’re spending more. Also the black only rims on the SX are hideous, I wish they were silver alloy like the others. Guess I’m to picky.
When you are spending 40k and over, I think it is fair to be picky.
I like the black rims.
0:20 you should put that owner's manual the other side...😉
Can’t wait until mine gets here
You made good points. Especially about LED headlights and captain chairs. Thank you.
Remote start should also be an option
Is the cabin noise quiet in highway speeds?
Yes - very nice in terms of low cabin noise.
App to lock and start the car period is better than most.
stangtrax really? How come you say that? Which cars have u driven that do it slower? (Just wondering cuz I'm curious)
Okay not trying to tear you down but which edition did you get? And by comparison, cost/quality vs similar cars in the segment
The only model of this I even considered was the prestige edition which at 47k is is pricey but the value is impressive
3:33 looks like your Telluride doesn’t like you either cause it peed in your driveway. Lol
That's hilarious!
EX Premium Package adds Captains Chairs.
What's the cost difference? Mazda is definitely an affordable brand, Toyota's get pricey
LED would have been nice at least at the EX level but you have to go to the top to get them.
Onur Demirci I was told 5 years
@@cimo1758 I hope so. There are rumors that they might have cut it down to 1 year with the telluride.
I need this vehicle.
Good video. The app is a pain. I will say my SX screen and camera look really awesome. The camera appears to be a trim level screen issue most likely.
In the case of the app, it has nothing to do with the Telluride, but Kia itself, so this is really four things that bug you about the Telluride and one thing you hate about Kia.
true
The whole app waiting thing is the same with every vehicle. It takes time for the back and forth communication. Now you’re just nitpicking.
The Ascent and it's standard safety features Trump this any day
Subaru has a lot of good safety features. I think the big difference is that with Kia even the lower trim levels get the same or more safety features than the ascent. In the lower Subaru trims you only get some of the features as an option or not at all.
I dont hate anything about mines! Everything works just fine!
I usually leave those thick manuals at home. I don't like to keep it in the car you'll have more space doing so
I'll subtract 1 for you. Lower trims in the Grand Cherokee do not have LEDs
This actually convinced me to buy (officially) I was already on the edge 🙃 thanks so much
Amy C wait for the Hyundai Pallisade. Will be better.
Can't wait to get my SX.
Romel it’ll be awesome.
@@ManicMarkets I bet. How is 0-60. fast?
I'd say about 8 seconds. But honestly, no chance to really try since I do more urban and city driving. need to find a spot where I don't have to fight traffic to really give it a go.
I would say it's around 7 based on reviews and good conditions
Romel I have to wait until March to get mine. SX, White, Butterscotch Leather.
When I heard about this car I was really hoping it would be the same size as a saquoia or armada. Looks really nice though.
You bought it was $35k.. what do you expect? Lol. That's the price of most compact crossovers/mid size sedans.
Check out the 5 things we love video.
I agree. You're always gonna find people who complain about everything. LOL.
It's a great value, even at the top trim SX level loaded with options the msrp gets close to $50K. No wonder it's called the Korean Mercedes.
Is this the base trim? I have been searching my area and only S trims are showing up
LX is the base. S is the low mid, EX high mid, SX is the top trim.
