As a long time pilot, 40+ years as a private, military and commercial pilot, I found this video painful to watch. It seems almost as if they just made up answers rather than bothering to do some research. There was usually some bit of truth to the answers but the answers were extremely simplistic, incomplete and often contradictory. Just some examples: 1.why are wings on commercial aircraft on the bottom? Well some passenger airliners have the engines on the bottom, some have them on top. Some cargo aircraft have the wings on top, some have them on the bottom. Some fighters have the wings in the middle, some have the wings on the top, some have the wi gs on the bottom, for a variety of reasons. 2. Why do the pilots and flight attendants and most private planes have lap and shoulder harnesses but passengers on commercial flight usually do not (except often in first and business class) because the airlines want to spend the least amount possible and want the least weight possible on safety gear. So it's clearly better to have a 4 way harness, as the pilots of most airliners and military aircraft wear, but most of the passengers just get the bare minimum lap belt. 3. Engines on the wing has been a thing since the first 707 airliners in the late 50s, not a new development that followed tail mounted engines. And there was no sudden drop in air fares when the the 727s, with their rear mounted engines, went out of service. Most business jets still use tail mounted engines, because they are quieter, but so do many smaller airliners. I could go on and on but the bottom line, simplistic, untrue, incomplete, and just plain made up answers posing as the real deal.
#15 ignores that modern phones don't disturb the plane controls even without airplane mode and that the instruments are now less sensitive to interference too. #16 contradicts the fact that there had already been movies playing in planes for a long time, and that we've been able to get TV on individual seats in some planes for years too (with the only key difference being that they can interrupt their signal in an emergency). And when asking why some wings are lower, he shows us a picture of them basically in the middle height.
Some planes actually have seats with shoulder belts. Those are usually business and first class seats since they often are placed diagonally from the direction of travel.
4:47 i don't mean to criticize anybody but actually the the turbulence caused by the wing vortices of another plane is much harder than the exhaust stream
Jo Jo no way this video was only posted on the 31st of January and the chances of two people viewing this video, then going on the same flight to the same airport and actually listening to bright side’s tips are so low. I think he just said it to give us a laugh.
that would never happen in a real life scenario, most people will go to the lane that is shortest and fastest because they’re impatient and don’t want to wait. the didnt really research much for this video
The seatbelts are to keep passengers from falling out of their seats, not to safeguard passengers in a real accident. Notice the flight attendants have shoulder belts and the pilots have shoulder belts. On military aircraft, the crews wear shoulder belts. On civilian airliners, passengers would complain over comfort. If the belts were not properly adjusted, they would not be beneficial anyway.
Great video, but: #16 "getting passengers' attention"? The last flight I was on had a screen where I could watch movies. #20 I'm always asked to keep my window shade shut because it's an attempt to help people to adjust to the time zone upon landing (when crossing the Pacific Ocean). #23 Dragon Air, Thai Airlines, and Cathay Pacific have given me great food (as far as airline food goes). I wasn't disappointed at all. Keep up the good videos, BRIGHT SIDE!!!!
#16 contradicts the fact that there had already been movies playing in planes for a _long_ time, and that we've been able to get TV on individual seats in some planes for years too (with the only key difference being that they can interrupt their signal in an emergency).
It’s a lot harder to feel which direction and which way you are pointed towards in the air. You won’t notice. Believe it or not, if there is heavy clouds and you are pointed directly at the ground or inverted, you might not even notice until you leave the cloud layer.
You've forgotten parts of it. You have nothing to do. I sometimes forget I've seen them till I look at a few. It s a fairly good show, and they'll have new stuff soon.
#9 addendum: because that's where the center of gravity for the plane is so that flight attendants can seat passengers there if empty seats are available and reduce fuel costs.
For people that didn’t understand the flamethrower in a air balloon : When your near a heater or whatever your body is warm but you notice your feet are cold thats because cold air is heavy where it drops while hot air is lighter where it goes up if you look at water vapour that is hot air technically so you see that it goes up
The small triangles on the wall are really a marking where pilots can view the wing to make sure they haven't collected ice over night. The landing gear indicators have been phased out and arent on any modern commercial aircraft anymore.
Wing position doesn't really have too much of an affect on speed. High mounted wings are more stable which is why they are used on many lighter aircraft. Low mounted wings while less stable are better structurally for large wings. Many fighter aircraft have high or mid mounted wings to make up for the extremely unstable anhedral wings. It is not faster to have the wings in any specific position.

5:35 on Cruise Ships, why couldn’t use any kinds of transmitters (including HAM RADIOS, BABY MONITORS, FM TRANSMITTERS, except for low powered walkie talkies ??
The reason for airlines not allowing you to use your phone during flights isnt because it affects the planes equipment. It is because the radio waves from the phone interfere with the radios signals between air control and the plane and between other air craft. They need to comunicate to navigate the airways and cant if someones phone has an incoming call or message. You can still use your phone to play games or listen to pre instaled music but only on airplane mode which turns off your ability to make and receive calls and cuts off you wifi.
You know, I like the window seat cause you CAN CHOOSE TO CLOSE THE WINDOW!!! You dont HAVE to leave it up. (It's better if you would though.) -The 747 is one of the largest commercial cargo plane and is a low-wing -Passenger Turboprops -Airplane gears have nitrogen that replaces the tires with air -If an engine fails, it still has to perform a priority landing
Commercial Airliners are too heavy and travel too fast to make parachutes a viable method of landing the plane, due to A) the parachute having to be incredibly large, but then also ripping the plane apart due to the sudden deceleration, or B) being small enough to not rip the plane apart during deployment, but then also wouldn't slow down the fall enough to make it survivable. There are however parachutes for small single engine planes, which are deployed via a small cannon-like explosive device. As for individual parachutes for the passengers, there would be too many dangers with passengers using them correctly, and if you have enough time to instruct, suit up, and have 200 people jump out of an airplane though 2 small doors, you have enough time to land the whole plane somewhere safe.
Also giving every passengers a parachute will increase the wieght of the plane And people cant use the parachute because its too high for them to handle due to low oxygen

That rule no longer really applies anymore due to technological advances, but to rewrite that rule is too much of a hassle so they keep it that way.
AND ANOTHER FUN FACT : The oxygen masks drop automatically once the cabin altitude reahes 14.000 ft
Thanks for this one

-The 747 is one of the largest commercial cargo plane and is a low-wing
-Passenger Turboprops

-If an engine fails, it still has to perform a priority landing
No the question is why they don’t have Parachutes ? 🪂
