- When you board an airplane, you expect a pleasant flight with as much comfort as you could get. But your comfort - and safety too, for that matter, - heavily depends on your friendly flight attendants.
Of course, they won’t say anything, but there are things they frown upon - and one that they just loathe. But I’m getting ahead of myself. So, if you really want a nice journey, you should keep in mind not to do those things that earn you the wrath of the flight attendants.

SUMMARY
- When there’s a line of passengers waiting to use the bathroom while everyone else is looking for their seats, delays are guaranteed.
- So when you take too much carry-on with you, two unpleasant things happen at once: one, you make other people wait while you put all your stuff up there, and two, those people who’ve been waiting for you can’t put their own bags into the bins because you’ve hogged them.
- Even pleasant smells can get on your nerves when there’s just too much of them. That perfumed piece of handmade soap you carry on with you has a wonderful aroma, but only for the first few minutes.
- When a flight attendant approaches you to ask a question, it’s polite to take off your headphones and pay them your full attention.
- Flight attendants confess that one of the most frustrating things is when passengers start trying to persuade them to change their seat assignments. The thing is, they simply can’t do that.
- When taking off, taxiing, and landing, as well as during turbulence, you should stay seated and fasten your belt in case anything happens.
- If you insistently press the call button for no good reason, chances are you’ll be asked to stop doing that - or even ignored completely.
- When you ask a flight attendant what they have, you make other passengers wait longer and get edgy - consider this when you take your time ordering your food and drinks.
- One of the downsides of working as a flight attendant is that you only get paid for the hours of actual flight. All the work you do while on land is free.
- Safety presentations are really similar on most airlines, but it’s still worth it to refresh them in your memory before the flight.
- It’s absolutely not fine to poke or grab a flight attendant for any reason, just like any other person. Some attendants say, though, that there are people who find it okay to touch them by the knee or ankle when they pass by.

I really hate it when i see passengers talking just rudely to flight attendants just because they can't stand their neighbor passengers who may have babies crying during the whole flight. I get it, it's really annoying but it ain't the flight attendant's fault too.

I love the safety announcement!! ESPECIALLY when they discuss the oxygen mask aspect of the plane. I loverespiratory equipment. Of course It's all I've known being in the hospital more than I'm not in the hospital. One time I was on a plane, and I wat listening to the instructions GAZING to see as much as I could, and the flight attendant let me see the oxygen mask and feel it, because I was paying close attention, and WANTED to know all about how it worked. I went from being sick and not feeling well because of an infection, and honestly wanting to just be home, to being VERY happy, and taking a good nap for the flight, but droning on all evening about how I got to feel the oxygen mask@@!!!!!

Actually flight attendants don't clean the plane afterwards its the cleaning staff from the airport who do,but either way you still shouldn't leave your trash for them to pick up.
Zubin Luthra actually sometimes they do bc once I was on a school ski trip coming back I was in a wheelchair since I broke my leg 😂😭
and I had to stay behind and I watched them clean and get out a vacuum and get ready to use it but maybe that was just because it was a school trip idk I’m not trying to hate 😳😅🧐
Actuall it depends on the airline and how stong their union is. On quick turn arounds for companies such as Southwester, attendants may be the only ones
picking up trash and wiping down bathrooms. Sometime couple cleaners will be tossed in to help as necessary. Airlines whose flight attendants have strong union contracts may have a full crew of cleaners who take care of everything.

And for heaven's sake, do not confuse cologne or perfume with a shower. Fragrant people are a bigger annoyance than fragrant soap. There is something prone to happen on planes that is worse than taking shoes off ... be careful what you eat.

I never want anyone to experience that so i always take a shower before flights, and when I’m still at an airport in wash my hands and face it makes you feel more refreshed and less nervous, that’s a tip

I have been a flight attendant for 28 years; you are absolutely right, the worst thing is to poke me (some people in very inappropriate places). I even had bruises! Every once in a while, I have poked them back and every time they look at me like , “ why are you touching me”?

Why infuriates me when seeing passengers deal with flight attendants is their simple lack of manners. How freaking hard is it to say please, thank you or no thank you. It also angers me when people don't watch the safety presentation. I've seen it thousands of times by now, but I still watch because I think it is so rude and disrespectful to flight attendants to not pay attention. I swear, as soon as 99% of people enter the airport they lose all common sense, all brain power and all manners.
Thank you for sharing, very informative. When we travel, I always encourage my husband to always have that 2 hr. window to get to the airport to allow flights delays and rest before boarding.

what annoys me so bad is someone who gets on the plane before me put his or her's luggage in the front compartments and then proceeds to go to the back of the plane to their seat, while us passengers who sit towards the front have no friggin space to put our bags at the top compartments...
People are just RUDE!!!
That's when you take their bag out, and move it to another bin so they have trouble finding it while deplaning. It's the best.

I was a Cabin Crew and there are people that just don´t respect our job. As a Cabin Crew we need to do a lot of things and some people think that we are on the plane just to give drinks and food but our job goes beyond that.

Thank you for these great points, what I find frustrating and even dangerous is when passengers leave the plane, someone behind tries to cut in front of you to get their bag in the overhead compartment as well as leave before you, this has to be addressed in the safety presentation as well as announced as a reminder while the plane begins its descent, a dad did this to me recently, not acceptable
Yes! People on planes are so impatient. If you have a layover I could understand it but what always confuses me is how people rush to get to the line for boarding, but were will all get on eventually.

Once I and my husband got the second row seats in one of the sections of an aircraft. The three men seated in the first row - who had plenty of leg room - wanted to usurp the space in the back as well, so that they could catch up with their beauty ( beastly?) sleep during the flight. Nothing could make them budge from their conformable positions. For some strange reasons, the light attendants were scared to take them to task. Prominent and Permanent law breakers perhaps? I have no idea. But when we landed we needed extra time to get back to our original shape and walk like human beings on two legs instead of wading through the aircraft like Donald and Daisy Duck. We never used the service of that particular Airlines after our unforgettable 19+ hours long flight, in their Torture Class! :(

i dont know about #9, i believe there's a special clean up crew that does that as i've just recently saw it from inside of the airport window. perhaps the flight attendants does a quick 1st round clean up and it's always good to give your trash when they come by asks for them anyway.

One of the most common frustrations on a plane is the child behind me screaming, or moving all around, or kicking the back of my seat. I've always wondered why the airlines don't keep the rows farthest back for families with young children.

Regarding removing your shoes, well if you are flying from/to Australia you better do, as you will be 14+ hours flying.
This comment is completely untrue as the flight time is dependant on where you are flying from. For example I could fly from New Zealand to Australia in less than 3 hours.

#3: instead of taking your shoes off, you can untie them, so your feet can relax and you're not disturbing anyone.
The main thing is to be considerate, then you won't create any problem.
Something I really don't like is when someone who's sitting next to me is taking some of my space, and pushing me to one side even, so it's very uncomfortable to even sit normally.
WORST THING: When the person in front of you leans back and you're too socially awkward to say anything... I just don't recline my seat now in case the person behind me is in the same situation as I've been lol

Imagine your on the plane soooooooooooooo sleepy and a baby is crying the person next to you is snoring and a flight attendant is asking you a question and you just feel sick way more than just a baby
It is but the baby just want something. Imagine if you wanted food and/or about to pass out, so you would tell your parents, but baby’s can’t talk. So they could babble, but the parents would just think it was happy. So crying is the only way they can show they are unhappy.

Once I went on a flight by myself when I was 8 I think anyway guess who was taking care of me THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT and showed me everything in the airport and the plane she even gave me a chance to have ANYTHING I WANTED now that's luxury

I remember I was on a short flight about 1hr and a half my seat was an isle seat which was better because I was sitting next to complete strangers after takeoff I am greeted by a grown man’s foot on my armrest (isle side) I was so disgusted and hesitated to rest my left arm.

Once, when i was 7, my mom and i were travelling on a 6 hour flight, and my seats were at the back while hers were at the front. After much persuation, the flight attendant and the passenger next to my mom finally decided to change seats with me.
"Please remain seated until the airplane has made a complete stop at the gate." That's the signal for everyone to stand up and start reaching for their luggage.

I guess switching seats is kinda accepted if you (an adult and/or frequent flyer) sit at the window and next to you is a kid or someone who obvious doesn't fly that often, so that you can let the kid sit next to the window
Flight attendants don't clean the aircraft after landing.
When a plane reaches its destination everyone steps off including flight attendants.
Then TSA or a security team (depends on the country) comes in, checks the entire plane and a cleaning team comes onboard for cleaning.
I once was in a seat by the window then 2 teens behind me were teasing me so I pressed the call button and then they got scolded.

My flying days are over, and I don't miss them even a little bit. But my #1 complaint was the enormous load of carry-on baggage which some people felt entitled to annoy the rest of the passengers with. I was normally carrying only a newspaper or book.

I was flying once and my dad is a tall man and the people infront of us simply DIDN’T understand that there weren’t enough space for them to lay their seats down, since my dad barely had any space when the seats were up anyway and it seemed like they were getting ANNOYED by us TELLING THEM that there isn’t enough space, my dad’s legs CAN’T fit when they lay the seat down 🙄

Because when I travel, I prefer to enjoy the experience rather than listening to people talking.
Seriously, people shouldn't talk? I mean sure if they're showing an in flight movie, but families travel together and are excited to chat about their plans and destinations. Get yourself some earplugs or upgrade yourself to first class, because an airplane isn't a library.
