    Great video! I love my 618 horse hide. And I wear it riding my motorcycle all the time. They really thought about the rider when they originally designed this jacket. As you said it has extra arm reach, but the shorter length keeps it from bunching up on you when in the sitting/riding position.

    Schott is a great brand bang for buck wise. Saint Laurent's is not as good quality as a Schott and won't last as much as one. A properly fitted moto is the only jackt you would ever need in your lfe IMO, either a Perfecto or a Racer, or even a Moto vintage, pretty much a cafe racer but with a shirt collar on it. I cannot personally afford a Schott and the best jacket i now own is a vintage Dockers from naked cowhide, i recently put a pretty generous wax layer on it to waterproof it (Still there is a couple months left for the rain season to start in my city) I also got a racer made of calfskin, and i am looking forward to buy a double rider or trade it for something i have.
    Greetings

    • @DudsByDel

      Honestly Schott is a joke like SL😂
      Unless you've got a 1940's reproduction made by Double Helix (with the better quality of leather they use) I wouldn't buy a Schott since they are charging custom jacket prices but aren't in the same league of RMC/Aero/Thedi

      It’s something I want to look more into. Yes I think it’s from 90s due to the buckle, ideal sleeve zips, and pocket tag. However I’ve been hearing this cut and hide have been the same since they put the collar snap back in after the time it was gone in the 80s. Same goes for the label.

  • @javierdiazsantana
    @javierdiazsantana Год назад +2

    Greetings sir. For some reason i cannot find fitted double rider jackets here in Mexico. My first one was oversized on the shoulders and since it had a back gusset, it couldn't be fitted even by the leather workers in my city. Second fitted larger but got torn apart. Third is slightly oversized in the shoulders but overall fits nicely and makes me look more stout. Is made in the thickest and heaviest leather i have found in Mexico (Around 3.5oz) and has padding on the shoulders. I guess i will wear that jacket when i want to intimidate someone. I got a fitted racer but that is far thinner and lighter. Also got a calf bomber (Here in the country, since horsehide is very rare to find, the leather that is the most similar in that kinda stiff and shiny texture is calfskin, surprisingly) and a thick cowhide Dockers which used to be a kind of delivery jacket but i put zipps on the sleeves and a mandarin collar to make it look sportier. That is a vintage, like 30 or almost 40YO. I wanted to get a brown racer with the makers of the latest double rider jacket since they charge like 80 bucks for one, in cow / steerhide, with a single piece back, double gussets, an elastic, quilted liner and such. I am still waiting for a good rainy day to pop here in the city to wear one of 'em and soak the sleeves a bit to kinda break it in quicker. I would be crazy if i took 'em out in the sun that has been extremely hot lately, pretty much dog days of summer since April and May. Hopefully heat will tame down soon enough, in a couple of weeks, and i'll be having a bit of a flood here in the house, but anyway. Nothing that a hike on 6 inches of water with military boots and a hood to release the garage plumbing can't fix. Best wishes

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  Год назад

      Interesting. Hope you can find the jacket that you’re looking for. Would a local maker be willing to build the jacket to your size?

    • @javierdiazsantana
      @javierdiazsantana Год назад +1

      @@DudsByDel The third one i bought recently and it's surely the best fitted i have found. The company made that one in a light hide but had a lining that i didn't like as much and the back and sleeves had more seams than i would like, so it was kind of a compromise. Heavier leather and materials overall but a slightly bulkier fit, or a better fit in a light leather that will get easily damaged and stretch out, so i went with the first.
      A couple of local makers do make them but i do find them flaws. The cheapest makers (Still some 30 bucks more expensive than the one i got, it's brand new sir, less than a week from having been made) leave the slanted or glove pocket zipper very low, barely above the hand warmers, leave the back with a central seam that i find poor, a lapel shape that i don't like as much, and a very thin leather, even when being moto grade. They also lack an elastic on the back gusset so it accordions out a lot and doesn't come back to shape.
      The other makers do have better hides like horse and thick bovine but could only make it in lambskin i guess, because they kinda run out of hides and they have stopped making garments as much, so i guess they don't order the same variety of leather as back in the day. That store is like 60 years old. Their pattern is better but they cost far more than any of the other ones from the country. More than double the price. As i recall, there are no other manufacturers in the city and only a couple of resellers from garments made in Leon, Guanajuato, and from one of them i knew the atelier i got the new jacket from, but they were at double the price so i contacted them personally.
      I have owned jackets of both companies though, i have my complaints on both of them, more on the cheaper company , but anyway, still getting 'em modded kinda gets everything better. I now have a racer by that company, a bomber by the other makers (Got a deal on that one, NOS, 50 bucks!) the vintage Dockers and the newer double rider from León. Belts, i just collect veg tanned ones, they kinda take the beating the best. A single wallet that my mom bought from artisans, a small purse shaped as a jacket which i don't really use but got for the souvenir, a bag from Leon made of calfskin, a couple of pairs of shoes from cowhide from there as well... Owned several jackets before but i don't have them anymore. Greetings sir
