Great video. The timing is hilarious though. I just spent the past two weeks researching the differences in all the Perfecto models and the one I chose just arrived today. This video would have come in handy. Glad it’s here for others though. Perhaps it will save them the hours I spent on forums.
Really awesome video Carl! I would love to get the perfecto without the belt and the softer hand. I have to rewatch and see which model that would lead me towards. I don’t ride but really want to! Maybe you’ll hook me up with some lessons and a free jacket? 😉
i am so fascinated with everything that is leather, from jackets to shoes i have an All Saints biker jacket and a Thursday roadster on the way, and this video made me obsessing with a Perfecto, this is the best informative video i have ever seen for leather jackets
YUCK all saints is good but Thursday leather jackets are some of the most garbage ever made they have no respect at all can't believe you didn't see reviews before purchasing. their footwear does rock however
@@reddead9473 The Thursday jacket"'s got really good quality and i love it, and most of the reviews are positive, you gotta check one for yourself before you judge.

In 1974 Peter Gabriel wore this jacket when he performed “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway “ with Genesis . I think that’s earlier than most of the music icons you mentioned.
Great video. One thing I would add is that Schott Perfecto's are easy to spot from a distance because of their smaller lapels. Most other derivatives have much larger lapels.
This is my jacket! Mine is from the 80's I believe, got it from a bid on eBay for $150, but man was it worth it! Too bad I live in Texas where it's too hot to wear it around too much.
Luckily I live in the NYC area. Schott holds annual factory sale in NJ. The sale consists of everything new at a discount but the real discounts are the extra overhead they cannot get rid of, one off prototypes, & some slight cosmetic issues. I bought my classic black 141 & an antique brown 585. My sister hit paydirt with an aviator Top Gun style leather jacket for her son my nephew. It was an old jacket that never sold. Apparently there was a nick on the front (jacket is distressed so I couldn’t find the nick for the life of me). Anyway a typical Schott runs around $600-$700. My sis paid $80!!!! It’s an amazing jacket. It’s the same leather as my 585 which is distressed. This was aviator style as opposed to my 585 which is classic moto meets army style. It’s a cash only final sale event every first Saturday in December. It’s always my highlight around Christmas time. There is also a $50 & under room. Picked up some awesome peacoats & vests too. No I do not work for Schott I just love their merchandise.
RODZ 79 join their mailing list. To get the e-blast. The stuff on the website is there with decent discount while everything else there has anywhere between a moderate & substantial discount.

AWESOME VIDEO. I'm a huge fan of Schott. I recently bought a Brown leather flight jacket from Ebay without it's fur lining. When I inquired with Schott about a new one they told me my model was discontinued in 1990. I thought wow my jacket still Squeaks like brand new. Anyway Could you do a video on their flight jackets to please. Like the perfecto there's so many models.

Flight jackets are a little different being that they’re usually earned through military service (Pilots) and/or Alaskan bush pilots. It gets me that people buy them for fashion.
I originally wantwd a schott 626vn but couldnt find a decent second hand one in my size so i went for the easy rider by understated leather. I love the jacket and i wear it every day! Walking the dogs, going out for a meal, rain snow hail or sun its my go to jacket. My only issue is the lining isnt really up to par and its starting to wear through inside the elbows so ill probably get it re lined with flannel similar to the schott 626 at some point
I bought a very nice condition 118 for $350 CND, l love it. This is as classic as the A2, and G1 of which I own several originals. The heritage alone is worth it in my estimation, and I also got these second hand.
Hi! You said that your model is 118J. I belive it is from late 80s or early 90s. The ones with leather "J" beside the model number were special order for a french retailer and those are suposed to be made from a thicker leather. I own a 318J.
Why are some of their jackets called a perfecto when they don't look anything like the ones shown? For instance, what makes the perfecto 41 a perfecto?
I bought one used. I usually wear size 38, but I took my time to try one on. Found out size 36 fits me perfectly. So I advise you to find a way to try one on.

Good review. Better than most other Schott review/ or info from Schott or others. And Schott 's site is still vague w/ their sizing on some of the jackets and descriptions. Thanks Carl. The internet needed this video.
Haha, thank you!
Great video! You know what really would have been great? Seeing you had a picture of the tags ,if they were vertically listed ,from first one to latest, with the dates next to them. Then we really would know what year jacket it is. ... Hey! you said leave s comment!🤣👍
Thanks for the tip!
@@CarlMurawski Thanks for making this informative video! My idea was just a suggestion, and I know it could probably could be a lot of work. But anyone who is really into Schott leather would dig it. Just like this here's an example. A long time ago before I purchased a Buck 112 ranger knife,I wanted to by a vintage one. So I Googled some questions. Turned out Buck has a whole chart to view about dates, markings, symbols, its very helpful before you make a purchase especially if your spending a lot of cash. Because we all been there at one time or another, where you buy something that you can't return, and then 2 months later, you see something that you really like 10X more but, you already bought what you have. And you cdack open another beer, snd say damm!! I wish I would have known about this!!🤣
I make in Pakistan these jackets
@@CarlMurawski My jacket just got here, its used, its a 48. The little white tag in the front pocket says Perfecto 118. The snaps have the the Schott name on them. However, the belt does not have a snap like it says in the video. Also it has the footballs, if by that you mean those breather holes, and round talon pocket zippers, but the pulldown zipper is YKK. Does this mean its a 70's 118, because of no snap for belt, and YKK zipper? I'm dying to know what year jacket I have? Can you help? Thanks! Ps,my Harley amf has the YKK zippers and round talon pocket zippers and its from the 70's.
I have three of this style only 2 are Schott, all of them were found from thrift stores. My main one is a battle jacket with mostly death and black metal patches. I keep the other 2 plain, of the plain 2, one is an old brown and brass, the other is classic black and chrome. I also have several denim vests to go over them I enjoy the 80s thrasher look. But it's really cool seeing the history of these jackets
have to smash that like button just after the first 30sec, thanks for sharing!
Good timing. I was look at this and the one from Thursday's.
I did a review on the Thursday version and this is hands down better. I'd take a used Schott over the Thursday Boot model any day.
Great video. The timing is hilarious though. I just spent the past two weeks researching the differences in all the Perfecto models and the one I chose just arrived today. This video would have come in handy. Glad it’s here for others though. Perhaps it will save them the hours I spent on forums.
Damn! Well better late than never?
Awesome guide! I always wished there was something like this when I was in the market for one a few years back
Another great video as always. I’d love to get my hands on a 618.
Really awesome video Carl! I would love to get the perfecto without the belt and the softer hand. I have to rewatch and see which model that would lead me towards. I don’t ride but really want to! Maybe you’ll hook me up with some lessons and a free jacket? 😉
Any time man! I have two bikes and you’re welcome to be the Dennis Hopper to my Peter Fonda. 😆
i am so fascinated with everything that is leather, from jackets to shoes i have an All Saints biker jacket and a Thursday roadster on the way, and this video made me obsessing with a Perfecto, this is the best informative video i have ever seen for leather jackets
@@Maginamortred then you don't know quality
@@reddead9473 how can you say i dont know quality? i am a meticulous person when it comes to stuff i am interested in.. have you seen a Thursday leather yourself or you are just a gullible person to believe what other people say without verifying for yourself?
The perfect Schott video explained! Thank you!
Underarm gussets are great. I only wish Schott jackets came with that inside side entry snap pocket that G1 jackets have. You know what I mean?
I do, and it really seems like the interior of these jackets are overlooked. even a vertical zipper pocket on the chest interior would be welcome!
You do these videos well. So entertaining for a seemingly boring ass subject
Hahaha, thanks so much!
In 1974 Peter Gabriel wore this jacket when he performed “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway “ with Genesis . I think that’s earlier than most of the music icons you mentioned.
The price is what you get. Them and all quality designers are worth it. Set aside $20 a week for 11 months and you have quality clothing. 😎🏁
True story!!!
Great video. One thing I would add is that Schott Perfecto's are easy to spot from a distance because of their smaller lapels. Most other derivatives have much larger lapels.
Good point!
It would look better if it had larger ones
@@maxloyd9682 no it would not
ToneGrail 😱
This is my jacket! Mine is from the 80's I believe, got it from a bid on eBay for $150, but man was it worth it! Too bad I live in Texas where it's too hot to wear it around too much.
The Broadway Reject Best for mall style, I suppose
Great video. Many thanks. Yep little available in terms of diff between these jackets.
Nice review. My next motorcycle jacket will be a Robinson by Vanson Leather.
Who?🦧🤣
Have a collection of about 7, love Schott, great video!!! Made in the good old US of A!!!! And yes, I ride.
Damn, that’s one helluva collection!
Do you know the exact date, I'd be willing to fly out there just for that event!!!!
RODZ 79 yes it’s every first Saturday in December in Union, NJ. at their factory where they manufacture their jackets.
RODZ 79 join their mailing list. To get the e-blast. The stuff on the website is there with decent discount while everything else there has anywhere between a moderate & substantial discount.
Hi, your videos are great! The letter "J" means that it is a model issued for France, the name of the French distributor is "J.A.J."
Very informative, thanks. More Schott Jacket reviews would be great.
Amazing video man, love all the detail and research. Appreciate it
Carl awesome video by the way I really love how you explain the history about schott leather jackets so brilliant. have you heard about vanson leathers they have nice quality I hope in the future you can make a video about them?
One of the besy leather jackets ever.....one of a kind
Awesome timely video for me. Thanks!
Absolutely! Schott is very confusing when it comes to their models, but I'd love to dig a bit deeper on some of them.
@@CarlMurawskiMy Flight jackets got scuffs and it smelled a little from storage but I've given some TLC And now is as good as new with a lovely patina. I never buy brand new as I've leant from experience the new ones take a little time break in. Anyway Cheers for the reply, can't wait for your next video.
Flight jackets are a little different being that they’re usually earned through military service (Pilots) and/or Alaskan bush pilots. It gets me that people buy them for fashion.
I would like to see more detail and comparisons of the jackets, I still get confused, the names are just too similar
Just wanted to say: thank you Carl
Thank you! 👍🏼
Good idea, it's not too difficult from what I understand. You could get something really cool in there too like a badass tartan.
Thank you for the info! Very much appreciated
Why are some of their jackets called a perfecto when they don't look anything like the ones shown? For instance, what makes the perfecto 41 a perfecto?
Fantastic video a great help, takes a great deal of research to make a informative video as such thank you!!!
Thank you, it certainly does!
Carl Murawski I also love researching everything to lol I am waiting in my Schott Perfecto 118 I just bought, can’t wait!!!
This is a great video. Really showcases your work behind the scene doing your research.
Schott is a Real legend jacket.
Great vid! Which jacket is shown at 5:33? It has a zipper near the bicep of the sleeve.
I've noticed the First brand has really well fitting jackets and I prefer them over most other companies .
Mascot and Lewis leathers Uk made this style in huge numbers since early 60s
Yes! Love leather jacket reviews!
The 118 is on my bucket list. I have another brand of that jacket. It's just not the same
😎👍BRAND NEW 618, All Black, from Schott's flagstore in NYC... Hell, yeah!!
Thanks for making this video, dude!!
I bought one used. I usually wear size 38, but I took my time to try one on. Found out size 36 fits me perfectly. So I advise you to find a way to try one on.
Good advice for sure!
r/schott brought me here, then I saw a couple more of your videos and subscribed
Well thank you very much man!!!
Have always wanted one but could never afford the prices.
Hi Carl,
Thanks for the video, it was very informative.
Do you know how the aero leather jackets are compared to the perfecto?
Probably one of the best reviews, great job! You helped me make my decision by covering everything I needed to know. I'm getting my first Schott 118 Perfecto in about 2 months, thanks for the review!
Great video Sir!
Good review. Better than most other Schott review/ or info from Schott or others. And Schott 's site is still vague w/ their sizing on some of the jackets and descriptions. For $800+ jackets they should have eaiser accessibility with regard to someone buying a jacket and the fit/sizing. Great info Carl. Even better than the Revzilla ones, (but theyre trying to sell you jackets)
great review on a great jacket, have had several threw out my 64 years only because I outgrew them or lost.my first was the race model at 13 years old, ($38.00 )when I got my first honda and have never been without one since even during my military service it came with me. I recently went online to buy a new racer and could not believe the price, there are other co's.that make them but I don't want to wear water buffalo from Pakistan, even Harley sells foreign leather, I'll keep looking for a used one which is not much cheaper or more $. Thanks
Throughout
Love my Raven Jacket from Schott
Hi Carl, i have new thick cow leather jacket (light brown). Can you make video, how to take care and brake in leather jackets. Thanks and you are awesome.
I think that's a great idea!
@@CarlMurawski I support this idea.
