      @@CarlMurawski I love it. The leather is super soft and supple. Really like the black on black design, not too showy. It fits really nice ( I went with the website's suggested size), hopefully I don't outgrow it too soon, especially after dropping a grand for it. I was looking at the schott website to find specific care products for veg leather, they're not specified. Everything about it is really well made, no fraying or lose ends. What are some storage suggestion? Would it be best to store on a hanger with a cover, place on a microfiber bag to keep dust out, or something else. I'm pretty open to suggestions, this is the first time I've ever owned a leather jacket. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The leather is super heavy and high quality, the zippers, virtually unbreakable and as long as the leather is taken care of, it stays like brand new for years. paid 600€ for it, but I don't regret my choice! However, the belt does not have a snap like it says in the video. Also it has the footballs, if by that you mean those breather holes, and round talon pocket zippers, but the pulldown zipper is YKK. Does this mean its a 70's 118, because of no snap for belt, and YKK zipper? I'm dying to know what year jacket I have? Can you help? Thanks! Ps,my Harley amf has the YKK zippers and round talon pocket zippers and its from the 70's.

      Luckily I live in the NYC area. Schott holds annual factory sale in NJ. The sale consists of everything new at a discount but the real discounts are the extra overhead they cannot get rid of, one off prototypes, & some slight cosmetic issues. I bought my classic black 141 & an antique brown 585. My sister hit paydirt with an aviator Top Gun style leather jacket for her son my nephew. It was an old jacket that never sold. Apparently there was a nick on the front (jacket is distressed so I couldn’t find the nick for the life of me). Anyway a typical Schott runs around $600-$700. My sis paid $80!!!! It’s an amazing jacket. It’s the same leather as my 585 which is distressed. This was aviator style as opposed to my 585 which is classic moto meets army style. It’s a cash only final sale event every first Saturday in December. It’s always my highlight around Christmas time. There is also a $50 & under room. Picked up some awesome peacoats & vests too. No I do not work for Schott I just love their merchandise.

    Hey Carl, need your expertise on this subject. Schott Vs Real McCoy Vs Himel Vs Aero. Now that you own a Himel I think your insight on this would be really helpful. Also how is Shinky Vs Horween. Many thanks! And keep safe and healthy in these unprecedented times!

    • @CarlMurawski
      @CarlMurawski  4 года назад +1

      Well I think Aero and Real McCoys are fantastic, and among the best out there. Schott is a few tiers lower, but still considered a nice leather jacket by most people. You’ve got to remember that we’re talking about the cream of the crop with Himel, RMC, and Aero so it really is about the details. Like RMC makes some great reproduction pieces, but Himel has his own designs which you can’t find anywhere else.
      Shinki is hard to compare to other leathers, but horsehide tends to be stiffer and less forgiving at first. It won’t stretch the way cowhide or steerhide will.

  • @javierdiazsantana

    A nice jacket. I would advice it for functional wear, if you're riding in the rain get a horsehide, if you fall off from the bike a lot get a thick steerhide like a P613S, if you want it for casual wear and just want the bad boy look, any thin leather like lambskin and stuff will be great, like the Raven for example. I think the Schott Perfecto is a must have piece if you do have a collection of leather pieces, i would advice going to the punk / heavy metal look instead of the Marlon Brando one since that looks extremely old to me, but it is a nice piece. I would take the risk of saying it is the most edgy and aggressive looking piece of clothing there is in the market along some heavy combat boots, and in my experience, women like to hug guys wearing one of these in a heavy black pebbled leather. Greetings

    I bought a very nice condition 118 for $350 CND, l love it. This is as classic as the A2, and G1 of which I own several originals. The heritage alone is worth it in my estimation, and I also got these second hand.

    Hi! You said that your model is 118J. I belive it is from late 80s or early 90s. The ones with leather "J" beside the model number were special order for a french retailer and those are suposed to be made from a thicker leather. I own a 318J.

    I originally wantwd a schott 626vn but couldnt find a decent second hand one in my size so i went for the easy rider by understated leather. I love the jacket and i wear it every day! Walking the dogs, going out for a meal, rain snow hail or sun its my go to jacket. My only issue is the lining isnt really up to par and its starting to wear through inside the elbows so ill probably get it re lined with flannel similar to the schott 626 at some point

    I just bought a schott size 48. I don’t know if it's gonna fit. I wish the guy could have told me the sleeve length, pit to pit, and top of collar to bottom. But all he could say was the tag says 48. It hasn't got here yet. It's used from the internet. I dont know if its a 118 or a 618. It doesn't have the snap for the buckle or stars on the top.I'm 5ft.220lbs.. Hope it fits. The seller wasn't able to communicate to well so I took a gamble.Can you buy the stars from Schott to put on your jacket even if it isn't the 613 model? I like the stars.Do they sell them?

    AWESOME VIDEO. I'm a huge fan of Schott. I recently bought a Brown leather flight jacket from Ebay without it's fur lining. When I inquired with Schott about a new one they told me my model was discontinued in 1990. I thought wow my jacket still Squeaks like brand new. Anyway Could you do a video on their flight jackets to please. Like the perfecto there's so many models.

      Flight jackets are a little different being that they’re usually earned through military service (Pilots) and/or Alaskan bush pilots. It gets me that people buy them for fashion.
