After watching the fight twice, this is my scorecard : Round 1 Doumbé clearly. Round 2 Holzen but EXTREMELY close (no problem if a judge would say Doumbé). Round 3 Doumbé pretty close. Round 4 Doumbé clearly. Round 5 Doumbé (without the last kick from Holzen, it would have been the easiest round to score, but still : more damaging strikes from Doumbé in that round) Total : 49-46 Doumbé. It is conceivable that a judge would give Holzen rounds 2, 3 and 5 (a scorecard like that is wrong in my opinion, but not ATROCIOUS) but anything more than that for Holzen is just ridiculous. Judge 4 should be trained or fired.
you are blind as fuck like the judges. Nieky had ring control the whole fight and more significant strikes..In kickboxing its all about the most damage and dominance in the ring(control). NOT volume. but the judges are dumbasses
Had it 49-46 doumbe on my unofficial scorecard . If your not throwing volume you need to have judges feel your power through your opponent but didnt hurt doumbe much at all so clearly outpointed even thou it wasn't dominant.
Dushanka Perera after watching the fight twice, The second round is extremely close. The 5th also, even if I gave it to Doumbé. The only punches that troubled Doumbé were the left hooks when he was going forward. And the commentators are pretty fair I think. They do their job and they dont seem to advantage a figter over the other. Having said that, judge 4 has only one criteria in mind: forward pressure.

Awesome fight! no where near close to justified a spilt decision. Some of those angles and swiching from doumbe was just beautiful! nickey way to inactive, waiting for the perfect time to throw combos instead of creating those openings himself.
I don't get why glory isn't bigger then the UFC! So much more action and no dudes humping each other. This was One of the greatest fights I've ever seen and I never knew it existed. Shows what I know
It's an incomplete sport compared to just Thaiboxing, where clinch and elbows are possible. In a bar/street brawl 1vs1 you mostly get on the ground at some point and there's no judge to split the clinging. Hence why MMA is the best sport and UFC even though are giving arse contracts to their fighters , they at least have the best fighters in the world. Kickboxing champs come there, Wrestling champs, every kinda world champ goes there to prove he's the best fighter in the world

Just went back and saw the judges score card. Worst judging i've ever seen !! I don't believe Cedric Doumbe lost even a single round. This is a bad organization, shame on them !!
Dumbes style took a total 180 from whn he was breaching world rankings to whn he became a contender he dived from being a world class kickboxer to actually being an "point fighter " with an tenacity to wanna please the crowd I think with the good prep he or someone like lerdsila would transition perfect to mma
He never got "busy enough" in his whole career. Watching him against Buakaw. He was getting teep'ed 40-50 times a round and just stood there the whole time getting hit by a guy who was smirking in disbelief the whole time. Now watch this fight. Just standing there getting hit. This fight is like nearly ANY Glory fight. You can usually predict the winner with a 95% probability of being correct just by watching the opening 30 seconds and seeing who is more active. Kickboxing is simple. It's not Muay Thai. It's not about taking damage like Muay Thai, It's not about impressing the King. It's not about fighting for the village. It's not about using a variety of techniques to wow the crowd and judges as part of the scoring. In kickboxing, the most active fighter wins almost every single time. That requires skill. That requires good boxing footwork, movement, head movement, controlling/limiting opponents movement with your own and a lot of light, "throw away" punches to set up power punches and kick and constantly touching your opponent. The fact that he's never learned this VERY obvious lesson in fight after fight after fight shows that he will never be great. Far too many fighters in Glory treat it like Muay Thai when they should be treating it like boxing. You have to be moving. You have to be active. You have to be touching your opponent continually. The fact that this guy runs around saying he's going transition to becoming a pro boxer "because it pays better" is laughable. Holzkein didn't just lose to a "better fighter". He lost to a "more active fighter".
He's a guy that can't get active, much less even put 3 punches together but wants to be a pro boxer because it "pays better". I don't think I'm the one who needs a reality check. He needs an attitude check and a change of coaching.
Doumbe had more significant strikes too ironically... so I don't understand how 3 rounds straight were given to NH... I would have expected it if NH was the champion... but he was the contender, so I'm lost...

Cedric Doumbe was a far better fighter out of the two. Was coming up with some great combos! The commentators were quite biased to my surprise. What a shame! They were trying to make Nieky Holzken look good whereas he was defending all throughout the fight.
I got Into a fight last week and my kidneys still hurt . Like to the point where it is effecting my sleep still cuz I roll around alot . I've been waking up at least 4 times a night and struggling to sleep

Cedric is the man but nieky is by far one of my favorite fighters of all time. It’s a shame he couldn’t beat Reagan in one, i was really hoping he’d do it
Did you watch his last fight? Stopped the dude with a crazy liver shot early first round. He looks hungry again. He is getting up there in age, and is definitely past his prime. But a hungry Nieky is still dangerous.
I love Holzkin he is an amazing fighter but Doumbe is difficult fighter to hit his style is so unic that’s what makes him so loveable to watch both Great fighters
It's not his age; his style of fighting is to square up and exchange, but he wasn't given the opportunity because his opponent was fighting from the outside a lot of the time. Fighters with good movement are hard to set up on and Nicky didn't seem to learn his lesson.
Holzken fought that fight to lose - he was not as active as Doumbe, who was throwing less-damaging strikes but his activity just made up for it. Holzken loaded up some more damaging strikes, but too many of them missed their mark, and they were just too few and far between. Holzken just seemed to cruise to the end of the fight, and never showed any urgency. When you're trying to win the belt, you need to do more than that....
Number of strikes should be taken into account when they do damage. This fight is one of them where it should have been taken into account, but i dont think the decision was wrong.

Nieky dealt more head trauma. Cedric scored more points and deserves the win. I'm happy to see Nieky back but you need to move not where your opponent is, but where he is going, in order to trap him in the corner.
I think Holzken is the more technical fighter and in his prime beats Doumbe but this is a young man's game. The truth is Doumbe is younger, hungrier, and better conditioned than Holzken is now.

Any Holzken fan has to understand that very few people in kickboxing today can stand in front of Holzken and trade. It's almost a sure loss. Doumbe adjusted and fought smarter. Even though they were both split decision losses. Holzken is still a great fighter regardless of what these inexperienced critics say. His style was developed by the late Ramon Dekkers and it works for a reason.

After watching the fight twice, this is my scorecard : Round 1 Doumbé clearly. Round 2 Holzen but EXTREMELY close (no problem if a judge would say Doumbé). Round 3 Doumbé pretty close. Round 4 Doumbé clearly. Round 5 Doumbé (without the last kick from Holzen, it would have been the easiest round to score, but still : more damaging strikes from Doumbé in that round) Total : 49-46 Doumbé. It is conceivable that a judge would give Holzen rounds 2, 3 and 5 (a scorecard like that is wrong in my opinion, but not ATROCIOUS) but anything more than that for Holzen is just ridiculous. Judge 4 should be trained or fired.

Had it 49-46 doumbe on my unofficial scorecard . If your not throwing volume you need to have judges feel your power through your opponent but didnt hurt doumbe much at all so clearly outpointed even thou it wasn't dominant.

Dushanka Perera after watching the fight twice, The second round is extremely close. The 5th also, even if I gave it to Doumbé. The only punches that troubled Doumbé were the left hooks when he was going forward. And the commentators are pretty fair I think. They do their job and they dont seem to advantage a figter over the other. Having said that, judge 4 has only one criteria in mind: forward pressure.

It's an incomplete sport compared to just Thaiboxing, where clinch and elbows are possible. In a bar/street brawl 1vs1 you mostly get on the ground at some point and there's no judge to split the clinging. Hence why MMA is the best sport and UFC even though are giving arse contracts to their fighters , they at least have the best fighters in the world. Kickboxing champs come there, Wrestling champs, every kinda world champ goes there to prove he's the best fighter in the world

He never got "busy enough" in his whole career. Watching him against Buakaw. He was getting teep'ed 40-50 times a round and just stood there the whole time getting hit by a guy who was smirking in disbelief the whole time. Now watch this fight. Just standing there getting hit.
This fight is like nearly ANY Glory fight. You can usually predict the winner with a 95% probability of being correct just by watching the opening 30 seconds and seeing who is more active.
Kickboxing is simple. It's not Muay Thai. It's not about taking damage like Muay Thai, It's not about impressing the King. It's not about fighting for the village. It's not about using a variety of techniques to wow the crowd and judges as part of the scoring.
In kickboxing, the most active fighter wins almost every single time. That requires skill. That requires good boxing footwork, movement, head movement, controlling/limiting opponents movement with your own and a lot of light, "throw away" punches to set up power punches and kick and constantly touching your opponent. The fact that he's never learned this VERY obvious lesson in fight after fight after fight shows that he will never be great.
Far too many fighters in Glory treat it like Muay Thai when they should be treating it like boxing. You have to be moving. You have to be active. You have to be touching your opponent continually.
The fact that this guy runs around saying he's going transition to becoming a pro boxer "because it pays better" is laughable.
Holzkein didn't just lose to a "better fighter". He lost to a "more active fighter".

It's not his age; his style of fighting is to square up and exchange, but he wasn't given the opportunity because his opponent was fighting from the outside a lot of the time. Fighters with good movement are hard to set up on and Nicky didn't seem to learn his lesson.

Holzken fought that fight to lose - he was not as active as Doumbe, who was throwing less-damaging strikes but his activity just made up for it. Holzken loaded up some more damaging strikes, but too many of them missed their mark, and they were just too few and far between. Holzken just seemed to cruise to the end of the fight, and never showed any urgency. When you're trying to win the belt, you need to do more than that....
Number of strikes should be taken into account when they do damage. This fight is one of them where it should have been taken into account, but i dont think the decision was wrong.

I think Holzken is the more technical fighter and in his prime beats Doumbe but this is a young man's game. The truth is Doumbe is younger, hungrier, and better conditioned than Holzken is now.

Any Holzken fan has to understand that very few people in kickboxing today can stand in front of Holzken and trade. It's almost a sure loss. Doumbe adjusted and fought smarter. Even though they were both split decision losses. Holzken is still a great fighter regardless of what these inexperienced critics say. His style was developed by the late Ramon Dekkers and it works for a reason.
Not much of a split loss when it's 4-1, it mainly shows some judges bias.
